Yeah, at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto we got posters and one postcard (Rinzler). How did others get the whole set so quickly?

The footage was awesome, I'm glad they didn't show more than they did, and yes, there wasn't a lot of fanfare in Toronto either. I was surprised because it was one of the first theatres to sell out!

I was in my glow-in-the-dark Tron sweater, with Flynn Lives shirt, Encom ID and Space Paranoids and 89 pins. I saw one other guy dressed the exact same! Haha!

Even more stoked for December now! The Recognizers blew me away! And lots of tributes paid to the original film, lots of winks to fans I thought (trying not to post any spoilers)

The font used to introduce each numbered scene was very reminiscent of Tron 2.0...

I just got in from the New Orleans, LA screening (about an hour away from Baton Rouge where I live). The theater was probably about half to two-thirds full roughly, maybe 100-150 people, that's just a guess. Each ticket holder received a movie poster (the one reminiscent of the original), and some postcards. I got a 5x7 inch postcard of Rinzler (with an ASUS laptop ad on the back) and a smaller 3x5 inch postcard of Daft Punk.

As for the preview footage, it was amazing! The 3D was extremely well done and the colors were bright even with the glasses on. (My glasses had some light smudges on them, so I experienced a slight fog effect, but it wasn't too bad. I tried to clean them but it didn't really help.) After seeing this footage, I'm more excited than ever to see the full film. Come on, December 17th! Hurry up and get here!

I only have two negative issues, but they are mainly with the theater. The sound level was EXTREMELY LOUD. Now I usually like a fairly loud movie; that's so I can experience every nuance. But this was so loud, you could hear the speakers distorting. And it took away from the experience.

The other issue is with the 3D glasses. They were the red/green kind of 3D glasses, not the polarized colorless kind that I'm used to. While watching the footage, I saw some slight red-green artifacts that was really annoying. Since this was my first IMAX experience, maybe the red/green glasses are something that is exclusive to IMAX films? I don't know. At the Rave Theater in Baton Rouge, they use the "Ray-Ban" style glasses with the radially polarized lenses that are tinted, but colorless. Those glasses seem to work much better, at least for me.

Overall, it was an incredible experience! I'm very pleased with the look of the film, the effects, the story line, and the emotional element. I think ole' Joe Kosinski is gonna knock one outta the park with this one.

Got the movie poster (the recently revealed one) and a Rinzler postcard. Also met Jai Nitz, writer of Tron: Betrayal and got a small double-sided Betrayal poster along with a massive one, both autographed by him.

And the footage was amazing. I was shaking from excitement the whole time.

Just got home from the Vancouver BC showing. Very few people in the theatre of 250 which was a shame. It seemed a lot of people just didn't show up.

The preview was awesome and it used the Wizard of Oz trick I was hoping for. No spoilers to speak of, other than that Olivia Wilde is hotter than I thought she was.

I snagged a box of posters for giving away through the Facebook Tron Legacy group and am hoping to get some more swag to send out to all you fine people soon. Thanks for the hookup on that, Mark.

They didn't show the "I'm not your father, Sam," scene so it's hard to say. The only speaking CLU bit I saw was the "Come on, Flynn...Your move!" scene and that looked really good to me. I didn't notice any uncanny valley issues at all. I have a feeling that after all the negative comments across the web about the, "I'm not your father, Sam," scene, that Digital Domain probably went back and completely reworked it so that the uncanny valley isn't an issue anymore. I guess we'll just have to wait and see the finished product.

Yeah Nick, I thought it was kinda weird too. It wasn't the old 1950's style cardboard glasses. But they weren't far off. They were made out of the modern hard plastic, but they definitely had red/green lenses. I pulled them off and put them at arm's length during the ads they showed prior to the screening and when a white background showed up, you could clearly see the red and green lenses. The 3D effect was there and looked fantastic, but the red/green artifacts made the preview less than ideal.

I'm just gonna see it at my local Rave theater as they have a very modern setup: all digital 4K projectors with REAL-D Z-screens. I saw Avatar there and the 3D effect was pretty fantastic. So I know that TRON: Legacy is gonna be even better!

Man, I can't wait for this movie!! LOL!

RustyMuffler Wrote:But... AMC YOU SUCK!...And there was NO excitement what so ever from the staff, particularly the chick they sent in to talk before they showed the scenes. Imagine the most monotone voice imaginable droning on, "Tron Legacy takes place in a digital realm and features visuals the likes of which have never before been captured in motion pictures". It was brutal.

That must be an AMC standard because the EXACT SAME THING happened at the New Orleans screening! LOL! I leaned over to the couple next to me and said (in my best radio voice), "That's right, you too can be a voiceover artist, just like her..." LOL! They laughed. It was just painful to listen to her struggle to read the card.

yea good idea, dont go back to that theater o.0

This was actually the first thing I've seen in 3D since I was really little at disney world and they had that Honey I shrunk the myself thing with the 3D. I gotta say I was pretty blown away by it at points. Looks amazing. Even just the title screen at the end looked ten times better. Looked like it was floating right there. I mean, obviously, thats the point, but still. Amazing. :P

Mine only gave out Rinzler too. No words at the top. Oh well.

They did give out a little card for the sound track though. Had the picture of Daft Punk on it.

That is good to hear. The "come on flynn" part did look good in the trailer. Did they show any other scenes of young Flynn or Alan?

Greetings from "The City!"

The theater manager came out and said something along the lines of "Thank you all for taking the time out for coming here when you could have been doing other things..." and then he introduced the director, J. Kosinski himself to answer a few questions about the movie. First question asked: "How're the Giants going?" That question was followed by more on-topic discussion, with the askers of good questions getting a signed hat and poster. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Bit will be in this movie. You just have to look hard enough for him.
  • The assets used in the movie were given to the game designers, and there is some very good synergy between the two teams
  • Like the Pac-Man appearance in the original movie, there will be several easter egg appearances of games in Legacy
  • (response to my question) All the arcade games in the Flynn's Arcade set were actual functioning games. Kosinski had to drag Garrett and Jeff away from the arcade set several times
  • There will be several shout-outs to the Flynn Lives ARG in the film.

Also, several photographs were taken around the Metreon for the website. Look for me -- I'll be in a black "TOKYO 96" sweatshirt.
