Roger Ebert TRON review

Okay, this is probably old news for those of you who have been on TRON Sector. Anyway, I was Googling around and found Roger Ebert's review that was quite interesting. Thought I'd share the link. Would love to read other reviews of the original TRON.

TRON review, Roger Ebert's Four-Star Reviews 1967-2007

So the movie's plot deals with a programmer's own creative properties being stolen, seeking justice and then embarks on a quest to eliminate a authoritarian, fascist entity (the MCP) hell bent on taking over world governments and the military in the real world after having spread it's influence and exerting control in cyberspace.

Um let's see here in this film characters express greed, lust for power, megalomania, justice, enslavement by an authoritarian power, fighting to suvive, and love... yeaaah nothing in TRON about human nature at all *sarcasm* *rolls eyes*where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

"The film is about finding human connection in an increasingly digital world." - Joseph Kosinski

I never liked Roger Ebert's reviews. Anything with special effects is just to dazzle? Saying Tron and Star Wars have no human interests is redonkulous.

Ebert, I think, is in the back pocket of the old school film directors. Marginalizing or out right degrading anything with special effects. He even says that Tron justified Dolby Stereo sound; as if any film doesn't justify it's use. He must have freaked when all movies started using surround sound. I wonder what his view is on new 3D movies.

While Tron didn't have a complicated plot, the symbolism and themes running through the movie made up for it.

I remember reading in a big book on movies in about the early '90s where he highly recommended Tron as a movie people shouldn't miss. Gave it 4 stars, as I recall. And I think might've even been one of his "Top 10 don't miss" movies of all time (at the time of publication).

As a result, I've always had an appreciation for the fact that he had an open mind for Tron, while so very many others had and have a close-minded view of it. He was one of the few at the time to embrace Tron and see it for what it was and also saw the potential of CGI, rather than be afraid of it as some were. If he missed the mark a little on the human emotion of it in that review, I'm okay with that because I've always felt he held Tron in very high regard.

And that review even has quotes like the following that shouldn't be forgotten:

A dazzling movie. Sensational and brainy, stylish, and fun. What a world it is! A whole lot of fun. A machine to dazzle and delight us. Brilliant at what it does.

You can even see he gave it 4 stars at the top of this page:

And regarding the scale:
Q. How many stars are in Ebert's rating scale?

A. Roger Ebert has used a four-star scale since the very beginning. So, the star ratings range from Zero stars (beneath contempt) to Four stars (first-rate).

Here are other reviews of Tron.

I'd like to see more of the reviews from critics in 1982, like Ebert's, to see critics' short-sightedness and close-mindedness at the time of launch compared to Ebert's. You might be surprised how unique Ebert really was for embracing this film. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion
