The white and blue ones kinda remind me of McFly 2015's from Back to The Future 2. Oh yeah, they can make those shoes totally light up like in that movie now too! They do look good, but I have a feeling the black would go better with my wardrobe. I don't wear alot of black but, with navys and dark greens and greys they should look better.

HooDooMan Wrote:That's a good point, IsoLine. Those suits are engineering marvels. I'm sure a lot of the cost went into the different textiles used, the fabrication, and increasing the durability of the costumes for stunt work.

And I never thought about using clear latex, that might be an avenue to explore. It would help, as you pointed out, with structural balance, but also with possibly insulating the EL tape as well.

I ordered an A5 sized custom cut-and-shape EL sheet to evaluate it's feasability for costume work and it came in the other day. After a few days of looking around, I finally found a power supply to work with the inverter they sent. It looks great all lit up! But, as I was messing around with it, I forgot about the exposed terminals and shocked the crap out of myself! LOL! So, that's why I mention the possible "insulating" properties of the latex...

BTW, I sent a pricing inquiry email to Oryontech through their website. I'll let yall know what they say.

Right, and don't forget, paying the costume designer(s) which are known to get their pound of flesh when it comes to film budgets LOL. But you hit on another good point about the glazing with clear latex, isulation. You found out the hard way how important that is, sounds and yes, you cannot have enough of it, even if you don't perspire gallons while wearing all black in possibly warm environs, it's still nice to keep wetness away from circuits. I too sent inquiries to Oryontech so I am anticipating some good tech news. I remember doing a little research on EL lighting for watches a few years ago. I would love to be able to create small unobtrusive power-supplies to go into designs. I'll have to find that data sheet on those chips. Oh as well they also have flexible resins now that could also be a boon to designing armor accents and such but that idea may be too costly. I should see if anyone on Dewback is doing any TL costuming.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Reading that part about lightup costumes made me ran out to Joann's to pick up some blue and glow-in-dark paint so I can do tests to see if I can at least get "lighting" effects :P

Not to burst your bubble Kia, but that will serve to give you "lighting effects" only in dimly lit or completely dark rooms after you have charged the glow paint in the light. UV light could cause it to glow a little brighter but that would require external light sources that may not be portable. Basically it would be no different than any"glow in the dark" toy you have probably seen a million times. If you were to mix the blue paint with the glowing paint, you would probably dampen the glowing paint as the blue pigment would override the phosporus paint's abilities to glow. What we are going for and it appears the producers used was a form of electric lighting not too removed from a neon light. EL sheets and wires use high frequency current to cause the materials to glow and as such must have power constantly applied to achieve the desired glowing effect. I hope I wasn't overly technical.

Another thing I just thought of would be to build a costume with the areas you want to be lit, formed and cut out and then make clear membrane packs that could be sealed and filled with the fluids found in glow sticks and then sealed up tight to prevent spillage and inserted into the spaces. Nurdrage has made videos on youtube about creating your own glow sticks and glow fluids. Hell, if you did it this way you could even make the glowing packets ahead of time and freeze them, then when you wear your suit, whip them out of the chiller and put them in your suit. When they defrost the reaction would begin the glowing anew.

Any word from Oryon on purchasing a piece of ELastolite?
