Tron 2.0 had a rod that turned into a tazer, a shotgun, and a sniper rifle. Whoopdee-doo. I think using it as a sword, baton or staff makes more sense anyway.

Every program's baton is used to create a variety of things. Lightcycles, Quorra's sword, light runners, light jets, etc. are all created using the same baton.

Yes. But all of the weapons in both the movie and the game used primitive shapes. They didn't have a real world look. They were distinctively Tron. If you took away the Tron logo and the glowing parts of the outfit, then shown this picture to someone who knew nothing about Tron Legacy they would probably ask if they are making a new Matrix movie. It doesn't look anything like the Tron world.

I know we have been waiting for a sequel for a long time. But that doesn't mean we have to like anything that Disney calls Tron. It's definately a great looking movie, just not Tronish.

In Star Wars their were a lot of great looking designs that the creative team came up with. But, Lucas had the wisdom to pick designs that were distictively Star Wars looking.

Too many Tron fans are falling for this "it evolved" bait. That's just an excuse Disney is giving to abandon the computer world look that the original and 2.0 had. They don't want to take a chance and create an authentic Tron sequel, visually speaking. They're afraid it'll go the way of the original and only be a cult classic. But the original computer generated look is what separated it from all the other movies. And it's what has always captured my imagination. Disney's main focus has become all about money. Not what Walt was about. Money was a necessary evil but the art and story was what was important.

This new movie is going to be exciting and fun. But it's not Tron visually, by a long shot. It looks too real. And I'm not biting the "it evolved" bait. You can be a fan and still have constructive criticism.

Now that looks tight. Her suit color is more in line with the original Tron. I like it. Her look is my favorite so far. Maybe, when the system is free again, we'll see more of this kind of a look.
