I, like many others, enjoyed James Cameron's Avatar. However, I do not feel it was as good as everyone is makign it out to be, and it def. doesn't deserve all the money it made.
I'm somewhat concerned at how regular movie goers will feel when Tron Legacy is released cause i'm sure there will be idiots that will lable it as a rip-off of filmms like Avatar and the Matrix.
Also I doubt the film will make as much money as Avatar but I do hope more ppl enjoy it and that alot of critis will like the film.
but this annoys me:
Avatar's official fb page made this post:
"On August 27, return to Pandora and re-experience James Cameron’s History-Making Epic film, with more than Eight Minutes of Never Before Seen Footage- exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX ® 3D. Since – and largely as of result of -- AVATAR’s release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity."
It's like haven't they made enough money already? and why the heck couldn't they just ahve added the 8minutes of footage on the DVD?

Despite it being derivative of the storyline of films like The Last Samurai and Dances with Wolves, I did enjoy Avatar and it was pretty good film overall in my opinion.
The movie's 3-D was very well done in my view.
It's sad to see the big hollywood coporate owners of the film trying to milk the film ad infinitum.
This re-release to theaters is kind of uneccessary in my view.
But I'm not really seeing an "Avatar vrs Tron Legacy" going on that much. Tron Legacy is coming out in December and will be a good deal of time after Avatar
re-release to theaters, will most likely have gone away by then.
Resident Evil: Afterlife in 3-D will occupy the digital 3-D screens in September and for at least 4-5 weeks after it's release.
So I think this re-release of Avatar will be pretty short lived. By December I am sure a lot of people will be tired of blue cat-monkies in space.
It is unfortunate that some people will ignorantly but poorly try to compare Tron Legacy to Avatar or The Matrix, but that's just dumb people that can't think outside the narrow scope of their own limited, closed minded thought processes.
I think it doesn't really matter what the people with narrow, ignorant minds think of Tron Legacy.
Just my two cents.

Avatar ain't the most original movie in the world, but it was pretty cool. I hate how people accuse of it rippong off of Pocohantus as if disney invented the TRUE story.
It's like accusing Halo: Reach off ripping it's grenade launcher off of Modern Warfare 2 when there are REAL grenade launchers in real life.
Oh well.
Avatar was cool, but Legacy will be 100% cooler simply because it's not tethered to any reality. We WILL see things we've never seen before.abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Bleh, putting it back in theaters?
Are they trying to get me not to go to the movies? D:
I saw Avatar and it was ... nothing special. There were some nice concepts in there but when it got to the friendly natives, that's when it felt like "same old story" to me and that's not a good thing.
I think Avatar has been over-hyped much like Twilight. X_x (I also hate James Cameron a lot for the title because whenever I talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender, people get confused. RAGE.)
Bring on Tron Legacy!

This is an act of desperation by the studios who have just about run out of new ideas to get people into theaters and this is the least expensive way of doing it especially in this screwed up economy.
First they over did sequels.
Now they are overdoing remakes.
The next trend will be just to re-release movies. The general public has a memory span of paper bag and will think "gee whiz! a brand new movie!"

Amen....I felt like they Cameron could have made the same point (politically) if he did a story based on how real corporations or nations screwed over indigenous populations on Earth. I would have had more respect for him if he tackled how the Spanish treated the natives of the Azatlan lands or perhaps the how the native Canadian Indians were mistreated by the Canadian government over ore mining. I guess a topic would have been too deep for him. We have seen the story before, we don't need scifi allegory to make the point, just have the courage to tackle the subject's true history.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion "Word to the Motherboard!" - IsoLine |

He could have done that BUT the reality is that the majority of the people from the U.S. that went to see the movie are incapable of comprehending social commentary much less history beyond who was the last winner of american idol. Catering to the lowest common denominator is the safest thing to do. This probably doesn't apply to people outside of the country but it is getting pathetic here.
Here is an example of how dumbed down people are nowdays. The simple question was "why do we celebrate the 4th of the july?" The 2 foreign ladies knew more than the americans.

It means THEY are scared of Tron: Legacy and they know it. Because Kozinski was shooting with actual 3-D cameras that Cameron used for Avatar, but newer, more advanced technically. So, in a word, think of it as 3-D version 2.0.
Cameron's people don't want the viewers to forget Avatar and is re-releasing it again close to Tron: Legacy's release date, despite the fact they're adding new scenes to it.
EDIT: And by the way, the story should be tons of times better than what Avatar offers. Tron is the grand-daddy of all CGI films.
And Tron: Legacy will program everyone to believe. |

Whatever man...I'm thrilled Avatar is coming back to 3-D IMAX and I will see it again before the Special Edition Bluray. All this means to me is 3-D is here to stay and its about
time they got it right ! I don't see this as a Legacy Vs Avatar match. I celebrate Lisberger and Cameron as film pioneers.

I may poke fun at Avatar (it doesn't have anything to do with being a TRON fan), but it's just because I wasn't all that impressed with the film's story. It's just me. It was a good movie though.
3D is being done right, finally. Somehow they figured it out. Avatar was the first 3D movie I seen since the old movies and I was blown away. However, I don't think 3D TVs will go over too well. I mean, I'd like to own one but I don't think I'd care to watch the news in 3D.. lol.. but for sci-fi shows and movies, that'd be awesome.

"Hi, I'm James Cameron. Welcome to my Avatar Comic-Con 2009 panel."
-James Cameron at Ubisoft's E3 2009 press conference.
In all honesty that speech he gave diminished any interest I had in Avatar, and that was the first time I had ever heard of it.

I work in the education field, and believe me, I've got horror stories. However, I don't think that's the issue here. The reality is: if you do a story like this about a real event or real person, you get wrapped up not just in politics, but in accusations of misrepresentation or lying outright. (Naturally - because real people contain multitides that don't translate well to screen.) Whatever you say in your film about the Canadian government or the natives, people on one side or the other or both will say, "You misportrayed so-and-so to bend the film to your political views."
Fictionalize it, and you avoid that problem. You still get politically labeled, but you don't get called a liar... so much.
