Good gravy people. There's no reason to get so uptight. This is the internet and we're all (mostly) grown adults. Swearing on the internet is nothing compared to a lot of the stuff out there, as I'm sure you're all aware.

Personally, I think life is way too short to be offended by swearing, especially if it's used for something funny.

Just that some people might not care for that stuff, and some parents visiting this site and its forums might stop letting their young kids from viewing this site if these jokes continue is all.

I have no problem with the joke or innuendo comments, but it may push away alot of visitors, and maybe push away new people from signing up to the forums.

Perhaps just having your own opinion and letting others speak for themselves would work better? You are fighting a fight that you are not sure even exists. Seems pointless and I think you are totally over-reacting to this.

I love how violence is okay, but anything remotely sexual is immediately shunned.

Violence, Negativity and Grimness: TV showing the nightly news with constant death and negativity, CSI, House, the luge person death being played over and over, sporting event brawls, UFC and similar fight leagues, Jerry Springer, the constant negativity from Judge Judy and other court personalities, kid shows where the characters constantly poke fun at people or friends, etc. All this is A.O.K. ... no problem. It can be on TV. It can be in PG and PG-13 movies.

But a 1/2 second wardrobe malfunction? Then it's, "What is this world coming to?". All the sudden radio and TV industries need to live in constant fear from the FCC. Many other examples could be listed here.

Basically, anything remotely sexual (e.g., DaveTron's post) is way too controversial and bad for everyone. We need to be protected from this evil!

Yet the derezz at the end of the new TL trailer? That's ok. No harm done.

I would like parents and friends who watch over kids take more control over what their kids see and do. And the parents need to lead by example. I've heard plenty of little kids on microphones playing Bad Company 2 multi-player shooting up a storm with dad.

Generally, the Sector doesn't have threads like this. Don't you feel it's relatively more P.C. and safe than a lot of sites? I've been here years, and I don't notice much like this. The point above is valid, imo. If it wasn't blown out of proportion, it probably would've gone more easily over heads of the crowd trying to be protected.

It's the internet, so obviously, nothing and nowhere is safe. I don't think the Sector is owned by Nintendo where only Mario is allowed (although, have you seen the violence in those games?), and the Admins probably don't get paid.

If I had kids I'd be more worried about them going to cnn's site or some other news site and clicking a link or video there. Or some other news site or Youtube and reading peoples' comments in the blog sections. Forbidden words occur much more frequently in those, and much worse things are said, in general.

It is unfortunate that it's so tough to control what our kids see. It'd be tough to be a parent. Even when trying to watch an innocent TV show some of the movie trailers and TV show ads that randomly pop up on TV are hard to protect kids from.

But people grow up into, well, grown-ups. And I don't want my world ruled by kids and the needs of kids. I will be cognizant and mind my manners, yes. But I don't have kids and we all shouldn't need to police anything and everything we post when we're mostly talking amongst other adults. This site isn't owned by the MPAA, ESRB or some kid-friendly company.

I'm not heated or angry about this subject at all, so please don't mistake what I type as such. I'm just sayin'. I don't claim to fully understand or relate to the objections, as adults... but I do respect the concerns. It doesn't mean I should have to enter my birthdate every time I enter this site (I hate that), or see my Sector experience become an episode of Pokemon.
