I think the most expensive item for me was the limited edition 82 print. Getting the post cost a bit as well. But I'm told that the print is well worth it "Like the man said, there's no problems, only solutions"-Kevin Flynn, prior to his entry into the electronic world- 1982 |

Ok Wheat, the suspense is driving me mad!! Since we can't see what the SDCC exclusive is, can we at least know what it is or get a hint? Is it a toy? Is it a , or a , or maybe a ?
All the big toy companies list and show their SDCC exclusives before the show, hopefully Spin Masters will also.

Honestly, I dont think I'm able to tell you much about ur SDCC stuff. Spinmaster & Disney are REALLY excited about it (which is sweet because I'm really proud of it) and I believe they are planning some kind of grand reveal in the month or weeks before Comic Con.
I'll tell you this: we're offering 2 items...one being a higher-priced item with very limited production, and the other being a more modestly priced item with a little bit higher production run. Sorry to keep you all waiting...

seeing as how spin masters is a toy company i'd assume that the exclusive would be a toy. "You know you don't look a thing like your pictures?" |

You know what I (and I'm certain the majority of us) would REALLY like to see in the toy line? New toys from the original. Because really, I NEED an old tank and a reco displayed over my TV with my Enterprise and Optimus Prime. And I can't justify the costs for importing those kubrick ones.
Seriously, old school vehicles FTW.

I think it would be really cool if Spin master made toys bassed off the original movie as well.
taking it a step further, it would also be very cool to have toys inspired by the new game Tron Evolution "You know you don't look a thing like your pictures?" |

Yeah I think the Tron Legacy licence is in good hands IMO.

Based on the descriptions of some of the toy descriptions at Amazon, it sounds like they'll be pretty cool. I bet they'll be following the Disney license and new characters/vehicles pretty closely. Just my hunch...
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

I've noticed an increase in old movie stuff and the NECA re-issue figures/bikes on ebay. (People cashing in on the current flurry of excitement) And yeah, the bikes are very expensive. I'm bidding on a couple of little things - not telling you what, I don't want you to outbid me! - but a companion series of original TRON toys would be great. Just like the Transformers Universe and Movie lines running in parallel.
Current wishlist:
Glowing action figures of main characters (old and new)
Lightcycles (old and new)
Glowing disc
Wii based action involving a Mario Kart wheel in a TRON stylee
Oh, and the film should be good too!

Rusty..I had doubts at first too but after seeing that giant lightcycle that they made and put on display..talking to a girl who works for them on the phone..reading discriptions about them from amazon and from a toy review website..as well as chatting with weatking on here..who is one of the designers..I'm sure the toys are gonna rock....and I've never been so excited for movie toys in my life.
btw the only good toys NECA has made so far IMO are the TMNT comic figures...all the nice sculpting doesn't mean jack squat if u don't have a good ammount of articulation to go with it.

RustyMuffler Wrote:I'm still trying to wrap my head around why Spin Master would get the Tron license. Nothing they have done up to this point gives me any level of confidence that they will be able to produce quality figures or vehicles for the line that don't look childish. From browsing their site they look to be a company with toys geared towards the VERY, very young. I am worried that if we do see toys from them that they are going to be goofy as hell looking. Would have much rather seen someone like Hasbro or Neca get the job. (I would say Mattel but after the way they screwed up the Dark Knight and Ghostbusters figures making them Mattycollector.com exclusives I wouldn't want them anywhere NEAR anything else I like.) |
I'd love to post here to say I think we're doing alright with the toys. its true, Spinmaster is traditionally a 'creative play' type toy company with craft-type brands like Moonsand etc, but the good news is they opened up an office in Los Angeles 3 years ago that deals almost exclusively with entertainment properties. Out here at my office we've done Bakugan, Stormhawks (they were good figures...RIP), The Last Airbender, How to Train Your Dragon, and now Tron: Legacy as well as a lot of quality non-figure brands that might surprise you. And, we have some AWESOME and experienced action figure designers, who are also toy geeks and hardcore collectors. We're the guys spending hundreds of dollars at Comic Con on awesome stuff because we're crazy and we care about things like action figures. We're also the guys who go to Target (straight to the toy aisle) and Toys R Us 3 or 4 times a week during lunch to check out the new Iron Man figures and Transformers.
That being said, we're still at your mercy if you think the toys suck. I'm probably the first person you can point your finger at (be it index or middle finger), as I am the 'lead designer' on the line, although not really the most powerful. Most (all?) of us are really excited to see these toys on the shelves and to get the opinions of hardcore fans such as yourselves. Even the most critical and nerdiest of my toy collecting, toy designing peers are telling me the Tron toys look "freakin' awesome" and that they "need to have all of it."
Anyway, sorry if I sound like a company-man, I just want you to feel some sort of reassurance that the toys are being VERY well received by my bosses, their bosses, Disney, and the retailers, and that includes a decent amount of scrutiny by the toy geeks in each of those groups. In a sense, the Spinmaster most of you are familiar with is NOT quite the same Spinmaster working on the Tron products. Same company, different office. Not that I have anything against the 'other office' hahwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

If they make one we should all send you a dollar! I don't usually like the Transformers crossovers but in this case it would totally work! I'm a complete Transformers geek.

Glad someone agrees. Realistically I guess Hasbro would have rights issues that stop it. If only we knew someone who worked in toy design for a company that has the rights and could design a figure that converts (not transforms - lawyers) to light cycle........

RustyMuffler Wrote:Thanks for the response, Wheat. I'll reserve any further judgment until we start seeing some pics. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. I guess that's another thing that also kind of worried me. I had heard that there were items around the light cycle display at Toy Fair yet they were the ONE THING that I couldn't find ANY pics of online after the show. I mean... even if there are no pics allowed, usually SOMEONE finds a way to post a few spy shots. This time... nothing. Is it true that you guys had stuff there, or was that rubbish? |
No, speculation is alright. Obviously I'm biased on the quality of our action figure design skills In the end, we ARE a toy company, and we're not trying to compete with Hot Toys etc. The good news is that our team consistently keeps the older collectors in mind, partly because we ourselves fit into that category, and partly because we know a property like Tron has a solid fan base that's expecting quality and a certain level of respect for the followers of the original movie. I figure kids and moms are more likely to buy toys because they like the movie, or see them on TV...and the 'quality' as we collectors define it is probably a secondary consideration. Collectors are the ones who are a harder to impress, because they care more about things like articulation and sculpting and displayability, and we're definitely taking those aspects into consideration as often as possible.
Okay, I promise I'll shut up about all of that now, I'm just excited.
We did have models at Toy Fair, and I'm also surprised no pics got out. Honestly, I'm really glad they didn't because at that point we were still showing outdated models, and I would have felt embarrassed having everyone critique them at that level of development (or lack of). The models we're looking at now, in my opinion, look awesome...of course I am biased. From what I've been told, nothing will be public until Comic Con sometime between July 22-25.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online
