V

Anyone see the new V pilot Tuesday?
I planned on hating it (ala Knightrider), but loved it. The CGI was clean, and the casting is fantastic!
Anna is definately creepier then Dianna was. I do miss the shades and bi-vocal voices, but it leads to more of the "visitors are already around us" angle. Hope they keep up the level of quality, with only 4 episodes planned this season.

I thought the reboot was wonderful too! I didn't realize about the voice thing until I borrowed my sister's copy of Miniseries DVD to watch. (Mostly because the other characters in the original miniseries are always talking how the visitors sound different.)

Also, I understand why they did the reveal so early, I mean, everyone pretty much *already* knows what they are. >.> The skin covering was amazingly thicker compared to the paper-thin the original miniseries had. :X

I saw it last week. I was really impressed. I agree with Kia. It was good that they sped it up a bit since we already know whats going to happen. I think this was a wise decision because origin/character-build-up can drag out too long if not done correctly.

I was a fan of the 80's miniseries, but to my surprise I liked this one so much better.

Why does an alien race who came across the stars in massive ships with no visible means of propulsion have shuttlecraft that use jets? Why?

Why does an alien race who flies across the galaxy to our little unprotected planet need to futz around with hiding amongst us? They can simply take what they want!

I liked the old V, and I will watch the new V, but so far....not impressed.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I watched this, aesthetically it looks nice. The story does seem too watered down to grip the attention of the audience they're targeting, it seems fun to explore the new stuff to me.

I say so far so good.. I don't like the spontaneity, but I can live with it as long as there's eye candy and regular alien beatings... hehe

Dave, good point on the jet engines, kinda reminds me of the shuttlecraft in Earth-final conflict.

Also, if they have shuttlecraft, why don't the motherships remain in orbit? (like Earth-final conflict).

Jade, please explain the spontaneity comment.

I am looking forward to tonight's episode.

what I meant was that while the plot has some consistent parts that match the story, it seems like a quick screenplay, to me, it is lacking material that makes me think how realistic the story is.

I guess this is where I'm different. I liked it moving fast but I say that because there have been way too many shows I know that tend to drag out when developing a character or sub-plot lines. Don't get me wrong, those elements are very important to any story. I guess it's just that I've fallen asleep too many times watching 'Defying Gravity' that I enjoy the change of pace.

I hope I don't miss out on tonight's episode. I've been a little sick and I'm so sleepy right now.

I didn't notice the jet engines. o_O

I should have made an in-depth explination.. The chaos around the globe happening is disregarded in the middle of the show, the violence against the aliens was just not effective, believable, and broad-reaching. There are much much more violent societies that would be nuking that tin can in reality..

It's very awkward to sit and watch because the militaristic entity here would have forced that ship out before it got that close to people... Them overlooking stuff is nothing to argue right or wrong, it's just awkward, since it doesn't have the draw that it did in the first half of the first episode... a very sterilized form of entertainment for me so far. I'm still watching,(that's a good thing) compiling video between power outages over here, while I browse on my mac..

Lot's of commercials tho...

I agree w/ Qix in that so much time hs ben spent on character development/back stories in other series (Lost), much to the detrement of story progression. Characters can be fleshed out throughout a series, as is being done in V. You pretty much know where the characters stand in the pilot.

Like Jademz, I too would have liked to see some government/military reaction to the ships approaching (eg: Independance Day) before they entered airspace. The only initial military reaction was an F-16 falling out of the sky?! That was glossed over, without comment as to whether that was done intentionally by the V's or not.

I DVR'd Tuesday's show

I missed this 2nd episode (and I don't have DVR) but it should be on Hulu this Saturday so I'll watch it there when I get the chance.

It was good. Focused on the "anyone could be a V" angle.
Funny seeing a "Peace Ambasador" punching a guy out. lol
I do hate the vistors being referred to as "V's" In the original, the letter V was used as a symbol, drawn by a Holocaust survivor, for victory over the visitors, not a nickname.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

Good point. It's been a long time since I saw the miniseries but I always thought 'V' stood for 'Victory' or 'Vigilance'.. but it's been a really really long time.

Elizabeth Mitchell is such a beautiful lady. I was going to ask her out but she got married before the restraining order was lifted (lol... kidding..)

Morena Baccarin is another hottie, but I wonder why they thought it was necessary to cut her hair so short.

I'm not impressed, either. At this point the original is, by far, cooler than the "reimagining".

Great point about their shuttles. I think the new BSG's "realism" may be negatively affecting subsequent sci-fi shows; the shuttles in the original represented a more advanced level of technology than the new ones do.

I also don't buy the idea that a race that has mastered interstellar travel would have any need to deploy a covert vanguard to soften us up for the main force.

Still, I'll give it a bit more time before I dismiss it as complete drek.

I guess for me, I'm still looking at it like I do with 'popcorn movies'...

I suppose the softening up part may be due to the same concept that we have the power to strike them (weather it be nukes or whatever) and they just want to play it safe I guess? I don't know.

I guess it would be the same if we invaded natives in South America but they know the territory and Indianan Jones has to ride in a prop plane with a snake... complete utter chaos... OMG.. lol....

I just want to see lazer guns... All aliens have laser guns... Are they aliens that don't have them (we don't know yet) because if they don't they suck.... and deserve to receive an all American butt kicking..

(can I ramble any further?)

When I worked at Warner Brothers in security I saw Jane Badler and June Chadwick all the time. Both were gorgeous.

I used to eat my lunch sitting in the cockpit of one of those ships sitting in the hangar set. I love V. I need to watch Ep 2 yet, and I am hoping like BSG MkII I find something to love in this new version, but so far...nah.

Keep in mind that I felt that way about BSG MkII when I saw the mini series! I might be won over.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

I've been even re-watching the V (1983/1984) miniseries again because I realize that it's been a while since I've watched them and my memory is like "lol". :P

...I even bought "V: The Final Battle" on dvd for my sister because I just realized that she doesn't have that one for some reason. She owns V and V: TV Series. Noted that on Netflix, there's LONG WAIT times for the V dvds and they're also sold out on deepdiscount (which was why I had to get the Final Battle from amazon. x_x)order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I remember a discussion we had in another thread about you working security. Do you still have that picture taken of you and one of the actresses?
