Steampunk is rather cool and I just wish there were more of it |
Yeah, that's one reason I like Fullmetal Alcemist, for its resembelance to steampunk ^_^ Steampunk really has no se date, but generally between mid-1700s to early early 1900. Once you hit the 1930s, you start getting into dieselpunk.

Just watched "9" this weekend.
The storyline could have been better, but the scenario...
A postapocalyptic nazi steampunk world, that is pure brilliance. ---------------------------------------------

well what about gear driven steampunk computers Edison and Tesla lived through the age of steam like men |
You don't seem to understand the concept of a computer. The closest steampunk counterpart of a modern day computer would be the Difference Engine, proposed by Charles Babbage in 1822, which in essence was nothing more than a mechanical calculator. A computer is, in steampunk terms, utterly impossible on that complex of a level. Furthermore, Thomas Edison and Nicola Tesla were men of electricity, not steam, although I do admit Tesla would fit the steampunk mad scientist persona quite nicely.

"The Difference Engine" that was what i was talking about |
Okay...well the Difference Engine was at most the very primitive computer. As I said, I was essentially a mechnaical calculator. As in, no electricity. No programs. No TRON.

Ok.. I cant help it, but I did feel the last debate interesting.
I do not belive that “TRON” can exist in a steampunk universe. But the “TRON” story can easily be implemented in a steampunk world.
Imagine.. A Tezla dude creates the “brain” The Brain Grows and sucks a man into his world.
It would be a fantasy version of the steampunk world.
Imagine a steampowered Cybertron.
And the inhabitants might look like this:

Kinda building off of bigbangbilly's post, I think it would be somewhat interesting to see TRON vehicles in Steampunk format.
On a sidenote: Steam in steampunk format.

Now this is quite new, and certainy creative, but I don't believe it is steampunk. It has neither the elements nor does it take place in the proper time period. Still, nice find

IRONSKYteaserA sci-fi-nazi-steampunk movie coming out 2011.
This teaser is sooo bone-hard, and sooo geeky
Some purist will probably say that this is not steampunk. Its not victorian and there is no steam.
Well, a "lowtech" comunity reaching hightech goals with a lowtech twist. It falls under the same catergory as Sky-Captain. Call it hightech-steampunk. At the other end of the scale maybe DaVinci style is lowtech-steampunk...? ---------------------------------------------
