SLG has been doing a new series of creator interviews, including a second video with Eric and I talking about the Tron comic. It really doesn't cover anything not discussed at length here already, I think. But it does show some new bits of art from the final issue.
If you compare the amount of gray hair in my heard in this video versus the one we did a couple of years ago, you can see how Tron has aged me.
Spoiler warnings are implicit!

Hey Man:
I'm kinda late into the comic book thang as I missed out on it when I was younger. I recently got into it with some Transformers comics, and then I heard about and saw pics of the TRON comic you guys did. Boy was I a happy geek that day, LOL!!!!!! Made me feel like the awe-struck 9-year old I was when TRON originally came out in '82. I tell ya '82 was a good, good year for movies.
I just got one of the comic books you did - the one that's got the MCP on the cover (5?). Anyway, I thought it was a really COOL and extremely good follow-up to TR1N (I haven't played Tron 2.0 yet) and the TRON universe. I'm sad to learn that you guys are only going to do six issues.
Question: I know you guys have been working on your addition to the TRON universe for a while - any plans to revisit it in the future? I also heard about the other TRON comic book incarnation from a while back - can that one be found as well?
Thanks for your time and your cool contributions. Peace!

If you ever wanted to explore the digital world of Tron, the Tron 2.0 game is a must. The world they created is amazing.
We have a totally separate story involving a zombie like computer virus plague onboard a security program carrier. It was inspired while I was playing tons of Gears of War. But SLG isn't renewing their license. So it probably won't see print. I'll wait a bit and see if anything comes up for it. If not, I will post the script on Tron Sector.
We did have alot more planned. Once the last issue and trade paperback are out, I'll go into depth on what those stories might have been. I can say they would have featured Flynn quite heavily.
The other Tron comic would be the 88mph hour book that was solicited, but never released. A pity as the art was simply excellent. I heard rumor that the first issue was fully created. Perhaps someday a copy will find it's way online for us all to view.

Lurking Horror:
Thank you for your response and your contribution. I also like it that the light cycles have guns on them - provides much more of a weaponish quality to them, at least a weapon that the lightcyclist can use more to their advantage. I'm writing a little something myself ,where I'm going to give special upgrades to the lightcycles that will make them able to do some really cool things.
I love that part in Issue 5 where Jet and Mercury fake out the red programs, land, and then BAM!!!!! Surprise attack as the lightcycles roll all over the red programs. That was classic! I also love the use of the rabbit character - seems to be a perfect metaphor for when the lines between reality and alternate reality are concerned. I can't understand why SLG doesn't see the HUGE attachment to TRON.
As far as Tron 2.0, while I've seen tons of video clips and art pics of it (and am awestruck by them), I've also heard and read tons of horror stories about problems with the software in the game, patches, and the like. Question: In your opinion, if I were to buy a copy of Tron 2.0 now, given that I have a Vista-running Dell laptop, would it be worth it? Or should I just go play it online?
Thanks again tremendously for taking the time out of what I'm sure is a BUSY schedule to communicate. End of Line.

TronFAQ is a better guy to answer tech questions. I had Vista for about a minute before I switched back. And other than some city building games, I mostly stick to consoles. One thing I can say with some confidence is that the game is cheap enough these days that it might be worth a small bit of risk.
The fake out scene was fun to write. The idea of Jet reprogramming the transport as a trojan horse type thing so it can slip behind the firewall... well, I enjoy studying the history of pre-gunpowder military warfare. And having a classic military tactic on hand that happens to have a bit of computer terminology named after it... I was happy to find a bit that worked on both levels like that.
No need to thank me. I enjoy talking here on the sector. It's nice being able to contribute and participate with a like minded community.

Well, I honestly don't understand how there could be a lot of "horror stories" about getting the game to work. Tron 2.0 is one of the least cranky and most hardware-friendly (low system requirements) games I've ever played. That's not to say it doesn't have its problems (like all games do), but it's really not bad at all.
All you need to do is apply one patch, and you're done. From then on, all the additional content that's been made by fans is optional. It's the additional fan content that can be tricky to get working properly, because the game was poorly designed when it comes to supporting that custom content.
Tron 2.0 also works on all versions of Vista, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Considering that the game can be bought these days for around $10, there's really no reason not to pick it up. In fact, I have a feeling that you'll consider it to be one of the best game purchases you've ever made.
And to bring this post back on topic: I really enjoyed seeing that video. It's nice to see SLG still promoting the Tron comic. It also provides some brief, but nice, previews of issue #6.

That's a good question there... How much does licensing TRON for a six-issue series cost that SLG isn't renewing it again? And now that TR2N is coming our way!
mmm... so that's really it eh? "Emergence of A.I. as a true lifeform"... interesting indeed...
I'm up for that script of yours LurkingHorror...
p.d. Now I know that The Super Scary Monster Show was already published by SLG too... You need to check out the COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL TRON TIMELINE!
Meanwhile in the real world... the controller feeds the shift clock to the VRAM's video port. Each shift clock pulse causes the VRAM to deliver the next datum, in strict address order, from the shift-register to the video port... Next frame-buffer data: Who created users? |

No one has told me the price. But I do know that sales would have to be alot higher to justify the continued publishing. I don't think the book makes any money as it is. Let alone with a larger cost on the rights. Timing is kind of the problem as right now is a difficult time to be publishing. For one thing, piracy has reached the comic book scene, and the comic book industry can absorb the lost revenue much less easily than other media.
