I read the first book recently and thought it was fantastic. It was confusing at times but made sense at the end.
I wanted to see the movie even though I heard it sucked. It was okay, but there were a lot of parts that could have been done better. I liked the art direction though.
What do you guys think of the book(s) and the movie?

People say that Dune is like Sci-Fi's masterpiece. There's stuff in there that Star Wars borrowed, like:

I guess I'm the weird one... I never really cared that much for Dune. Read the first book... it was ok... I saw the movie and parts of it was ok...
They made a better movie back around 2002 I think... Sci-Fi showed it... It was ok...

Deadly Disks summed it up pretty good. If you like David Lynch though, you'll love his take on Dune. Just remember when watching it, it's not an adaption of the novel, but Lynch's vision of it, and you'll enjoy it.
If you don't like David Lynch then steer clear of it 
You should read the next three novels in the series. I especially liked God Emperor of Dune. That's where it stops though, I pretty much had to STRUGGLE through Heretics and Chapterhouse, and didn't quite care for any of the characters.

I heard something about that, but don't know any more than you do. I remember thinking "really? Do we need another Dune?"
An MMO set in the Dune universe would be awesome though.
