Indy Games

on Thursday, July, 31, 2008 6:20 AM
Hey everyone. I started a blog a while back on blogspot just around the time the TR2N footage was released. I made two posts about it, but directed everyone to Tronfaq's site since he has been doing an excellent job keeping up with everything.

However....

I'm now posting blog entries about downloadable freeware games. I'm going to try to keep it updated daily (or at least weekly) and post what I find to be impressive freeware games for everyone to down load. I'll offer a screen shot and a link to a site where you can get it.

Just a little something I like doing. If you guys are interested, visit my blog.

http://qix77.blogspot.com/
Although it won't always be about games, it will include some crazy crap from time to time if you are interested in reading that sort of thing... but it will mainly be about games and movies and tacos and beer and women and the friendly people who locked me in the mental institution and forgot to lock the door and will never find me because I'm hiding in a box 'Solid Snake' style. :P

Hey... just a little something related with the current blog post.... there is a Ghostbusters 3D freeware game that is really really impressive... only problem is that it crashes every time I use a power pack (must be my configuration)... Other than that, it works great.... Here is a video clip...

Hey... are there any fans of Metroid in here? If so I found a really cool game. It's a clone of Metroid Prime for the PC. I might blog about it next month.

It's called 'Another Bound' and the whole thing is in Japanese but you don't need to understand Japanese to play it.

Here is a screen shot...

.. and here is a youtube movie so you can check out the game play..

Wow, that looks like it'll be a good replacement if the Wii version of that Ghostbusters game turns out to totally blow (which seems likely based on screenshots). I really can't take these "special cartoon version" ports anymore.

I remember a while back I found a cashload of awesome freeware games off of jayisgames.com. One of which was this cool game that was like a 3D lightcycles, where you could turn up, down, left, and right. You could crash through walls too without having to use the shield break (SHIELD BREAK!).

After that there was this game where you played as this ball and bounced around lighting blocks on fire and the object was to get to some portal or something to enter anothe dimension of more fire I dunno it was wierd.

Nevertheless both game were good and I would link to them if I could find them on Jay's blog (can't remember the names! arg!)

Thats cool. Knowing me (since I'm a freeware gaming nut) I'll most likely find them. After I post all the remakes that I've been playing that I think is good, I'll post a ton of original games as well.

One of the best that I've played is a game called 'Within A Deep Forest'... It was made with Multimedia Fusion 2 and that was what sold me to the MMF2 engine. So I'm going to make a game from it (and hope to have everything done by this winter but thats unlikely)...

I'll keep my eyes pealed.. If you get a chance, check out my blog http://qix77.blogspot.com/..

There's a really neat free game on Steam right now called Track Mania. I don't know if you could call it freeware, though, as there is the option to make a purchase for some more features (I don't know what they are, though).

It's overall a pretty neat game. It's got online, LAN, and hotseat multiplayer modes, along with a Track Editor and the ability to paint cars. Seriously, check it out. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

The first one sounds like a freeware game I have, and in fact I heard about it from Qix. In theis LC gam, do you shoot?

I have one of the TrackManias. I can't remember which one (United?). It's a fun game. Played it all the time and I love the huge ramps they have on it on the difficult levels.

Steam and I are not on intimate terms. They won't let me play Half-Life 2 anymore just because I had to wipe my harddrive due to a major system issue back in early 2007..... however I can play Portal, HL2-E1 and HL2-E2 for some reason.

Theres a really excellent spooky game over at http://www.studiotrophis.com/site/projects/thewhitechamber called THE WHITE CHAMBER

Its pretty gruesome in places and has some bad language, and definitely not for youngsters. If you've ever seen the movie Event Horizon, you'll know what to expect, however, its a great game.

Quite simple to complete, but worth a shot if you like Sci-Fi Horrorabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Speaking of Sci-Fi horror, I've been thinking of a game in the similar genre. I don't know if you'd call it Sci-Fi HORROR, but I would think it could have some pretty frightening elements to it. I'm thinking of making this game called "Nuclear Winter". As you can tell already, I've probably been playing a bit too much DEFCON (which is another great indie game, btw). Here's what I've got so far with the storyline:

It's the future (no particular year, kinda keeping it omnious). Temperatures reach extreme highs in the summer and extreme lows in the Winter. In the midst of a huge snowstorm, a group of pro-soviet union Russians stole all of the nukes from the United States (it's the future, I can have whatever the logic probe I want happen). The snowstorm has died down a bit, but it doesn't seem like it's going away anytime soon. You are one of the last few members of the United States Arctic Military group. Now, you'll have to fight against the invading soviets in the abandoned, buried, iced over ruins of the cities of the United States, in a future where a nuclear missile strike is a regular occurance, and where fallout and frostbite are your worst enemies.

How'z that?
I'm still planning everything, so don't expect anything huge. In the meantime, though, you can check out DEFCON. It's not freeware, but the demo is awesome. If you liked Wargames, then you'll love this. order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

On the game I'm working on, I'm staying away from anime. It's not so much that I can't draw it, but I see way too much of it in games these days.

Don't get me wrong. I really dig anime. If you like a good online anime golf game (freeware), try Albatross 18 Season 3... Really good game and retail quality.

However, I sort of believe in following my own style. Here is a title screen that I worked on several months ago... I might change it (top secret stuff here) and it's got the working title of my game.

The intent of the game is suppose to be a platformer with similar gameplay like "Revenge of Shinobi" for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The story is based on something I've been working with since 1996 and was suppose to be a novel. The story of this game is just a very small fraction of that story and more of a distant squeal to a game I want to do in the future... a classic style RPG (sort of like 'Phantasy Star II' and 'Final Fantasy III').. Mainly because I can tell more of a story that way.

Ok.. I gave away too much.. but I hope to have it finished by this winter or spring.

I wish I had learned more about programming when I was younger. I learned to fix computers and networks instead!

I have dabbled with Darkbasic a bit, but Im too distracted by my life to put hours of development into something.

Ahh well, I do write music! If you want a ditty for your game, let meknow and ill have a dabble in fruity loops for you!

You're in luck.. See.. I'm not a programmer either. I use to work on Commodore basic back in the 80's but that was it.

I use the program called "Multimedia Fusion 2". I like it a lot better than Game Maker but that is because if you are doing some advance stuff with GM, You do need to know just a little bit about scripts and how they work... So far with MMF2, there hasn't been any need of that.

Ahh.. A fellow musician.. I did a sound track for Gemi XII back in 1994.. it was a puzzle game a friend of mine made but it really sucked. I think I still have my music samples around here somewhere.

I'm currently doing music with ModPlug. It's a Mod tracker and I have almost an endless collection of samples but I need more. I would play my guitar and do some recordings but my sound board is RIP and that was the only thing I had that I could hook up to my computer (which I need to go shoping for something soon).

A friend of mine is a professional vocalist and I'm hoping that we can record a few tracks together for the end credits.... but before I go that far I need to finish at least 14 levels and see how the game is going.

I've got a few mods I made (.it to be exact) and it's towards the mood that I'm looking for. I might post one of them on here sometime in an MP3 format to get everyone's opinion...

I really hope that I have enough time to work on this project since I have a lot going on in my life at the moment.... Life sucks.....

I used Modplug forever until I discovered the world of VSTi's. I actually still use it but sometimes modplug doesnt like loading VSTi's like Absynth, and Fruity Loops comes with the excellent SYTRUS vsti as well, which can pretty much do anything.

my music myspace page is over at http://www.myspace.com/digideusmusic. Take a look if you want. the song "Darkness Complex" was written just with Modplug. the others were all modplug and Audacity for the guitars

As for soundboards, buy a 2nd hand Line6 POD. they are awesome for the money. Ebay has loads of them at really cheap prices abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I used to be on VGMusic.com, which has the largest collection of videogame MIDI music, but I got in a fight with one of the admins and left. I currently have a Street Fighter remix for judging on OCRemix.org and I also have that remix on my Reverbnation Profile. I also have a couple of other Videogame remixes on there as well.

I added you to my friend on MySpace, digideus. I really like your music. Keep up the great work
