The article on front page had me fooled for the first two paragraphs. I realized it was a joke/fake news when it mentioned Uwe Boll. Good job, I'm usually not easy to fool not at all.

For those asking "why don't they film the teaser trailer at the Disney press events!?"

Well, they aren't allowed to. Security patrols these events. Anyone with caught with a camera or mobile phone while a press presentation is showing teasers/trailers/early footage; well Security will remove the person and confiscate the cell phone/mobile phone/camera/etc. (it may be returned after the the device is wiped of all it's files.)

The ComicCon '08 recording of the teaser was someone taking a huge risk.
*If* Convention security caught him, he'd be taken out of the convention center, his badge taken, his cell phone will be taken and not returned until all it's files have been deleted.

He or she would *not* be allowed to return to the Comic Con during the four days of the Con. They are very very serious and strict about this.
Absolutely *no* filming is allowed.
A similar set-up is in place at many of these special press presentations.

I once went to Paramount Studios to see a special press and public screening of a film.

Everyone's cell phone was temporarily confiscated and each person patted down, and any backpacks and purses searched thoroughly for any recording devices or other
not allowed items. Those may have additional consequences if for members of the press caught filming the footage or film.

I hope this explains why these bloggers/website journalists aren't recording the Tron 2 teaser footage and putting them up online.

TRON Sequel Gets New Director

Glad you enjoyed the story, programs.

Sounds like it wasn't too hard to figure out. We were going for a pretty high absurd factor on that and tried to keep it somewhat believable. A TRON sequel not set in the digital world of TRON? Yeah - right!

There's some hidden text at the end of the article. You can see it by selecting over it, or just doing a CTRL+A.

Basically, TronFAQ came up with the idea of Uwe Boll replacing Kosinski. That's pretty absurd and so we went with that angle. I wrote up an initial rough draft and then TronFAQ tweaked and spiffed it up very nicely. Mr. Sinistar created the main page graphic and TRON-Rick-Roll.

I made the posting (as in put it on the main page), but make no doubt about it - I was only a part of the team effort. TronFAQ's beautifully absurd idea and contributions to the write up along with Mr. Sinistar's awesome graphic and animation work really made this year's gag story the best in years, in my opinion.

We were all cracking each other up during its preparation. I hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Curse you, TRON-Sector peoples!

I completely fell for it, even though it is the day after April Fool's.

Nice Job TronFAQ, Mr. Sinistar & TheReelTodd.

ShadowDragon is right about why there's been no further leaked footage. Except for Comicon last year, all the showings of the teaser have been at private industry events. We're not going to see any leaks from those, because somebody could lose his or her job over it.

We have to wait for another public showing in order for a better bootleg to show up. Then again, if it's shown in 3-D from now on it will be just as worthless as the first bootleg in terms of image quality. The camcorder will record a dual, ghosted image.

Just a couple of news tidbits I want to mention now.

First up? Apparently, filming for the sequel has begun. And one of the first scenes to be filmed is a stunt scene involving a motorcycle chase in the real world. There are some amateur videos out there that someone took, but there's really no point in linking to them. They're very dark and taken from a distance. You can't really see anything. (Thanks to maxiekat for the tip.)

Second, is something I came across a few days ago but forgot to mention. Over at SlashFilm, they report that at ShoWest it was revealed that the TRON font/logo for the sequel has changed from the original.

The article features a drawn replica of the logo, which I'll include in this post.

As someone noted in the comments: the T and the R could be interpreted as showing a program riding a Light Cycle, with the O representing the rear wheel. And the N could possibly double for a "2" turned 90 degrees on to its side.

Oh my god.....

That is absolutly rediculous. Honestly, the original font for TR2N looked MUCH better. This new font makes it look like a stand-alone, indy-made film.

Oh god, please save our much loved Franchise from turning into a massive Hollywood failure AKA The "Star Wars" prequals. (In My Honest Opinion).

Ugly logo. How a 5th grader would draw.

TRON logo, is something that needs not be original. It just needs to be stylish, just like the previous logo. Like 'wow, how original, I see a cycle in the T & R, how cool'. NOT.

Edit: Has to be April fools joke.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Here's a slightly better shot of what TronFAQ is talking about.

Also, just for information, this is where I believe they shot this scene, according to the video's description.

I looked pretty close at the area you marked on Google Maps, and I think I may have found the area the person was filming at. I think it's the top of the building to the right of the location you zoomed in on.

@achilles_

Mouthful in a single word.

@deadly_Cookie_

I know it's suppose to be a recreation from what someone saw and all, but I really don't even see a lightcycle in that logo.

Probably is a fool's joke.

I looked at that you tube link because my internet keeps bugging out when ever I try to go to SlashFilm. Crazyness .

I can't even imagine a motorcycle jumping off a bridge, let alone going the wrong way on the road! How the hell......

Now I'm trying to figure out how this relates to the story.

I'm cold and calculating. Don't press my buttons.

No, I don't think the new TRON font/logo is an April Fool's joke.

First, the article that logo appeared in was published on March 31st. To spring an April Fool's joke early is in very bad taste.

Second, and more importantly, other sites who had people at ShoWest have commented on the logo and have not debunked it or said it was fake.

Also, don't forget that the person who drew it did it to the best of his ability. It's not going to be exactly the same. The logo shown at ShoWest might have looked better than his imitation. He had to draw the logo himself because nobody at ShoWest was allowed to release any photos or videos of the event.

That said, if the logo is fairly accurate, then I'm not exactly in love with it either. Besides, why must changes be made just for the sake of changing them? What's wrong with the original? It looked great. It just works. No need to change it.

It's always the same. People working on sequels always have to put their "personal stamp" on the followup. Change things because they're worried that they won't personally be recognized for the success of the film. (e.g. The artists who work on the Light Cycles get no recognition, and everyone mentions how great Syd Mead's work was in the sequel. Even though he didn't work on it.)

I'm not against a certain amount of change. But there are things that can be changed, and things that should be left alone because they're iconic. The TRON font/logo is one of them.

In the end, the logo should be fixed to normal. Tron is not just about lightcycles. It's not even about the logo. If doing an original logo, the TR2N logo was perfect and subtle (I still don't mind if they end up using that title). Or just use the old one.

I agree. Did the Star Wars logo ever change? It is iconic.

For some movies, it's obviously okay to revamp logos. But for Tron, it just wouldn't make sense to. (I'm trying to be as unbiased as I can even.) Tron could easily be a franchise, building on the old or tweaking elements of the old. The Tron font is still great, imo, and doesn't need changing. It could easily be iconic, like the Star Wars logo/font, if left unchanged. Similarly, every future Tron movie could start the same way as I mentioned earlier, to help make it iconic. Camera zooms into the font. I just noticed that the site re-drew the logo, in an attempt to make it more accurate.

Looks a bit better now. But I'm still not liking it that much. Stick with the original font!

SlashFilm is also reporting about how the sequel might have a budget of $300 million, but we already found out about that two months ago.
