I want to interject here before derailing this thread and topic about CGI effects. As a short intro, I've been a huge fan of Tron since 1982 when I was ten years old when living in Cleveland and cannot wait for some Clu Fu coming in December for Legacy.

But in all seriousness, I understand and appreciate everyone's excitement with the upcoming sequel but has anyone NOT noticed a very significant actor by the name of John Hurt in the cast list? If you look it up, he's in there. But the biggest mystery is: WHO is he playing?

I do have a couple of theories and I suspect he's playing a role of one of the characters from the first film. Somebody so dastardly who'd love to see Flynn get one-upped.

John Hurt's presence in the film IS a big deal considering the fact Disney is covering up that part of the role. Makes you think twice, does'nt it?

And I don't think they would be this stupid to kill, er I mean de-rezz Clu 2.0 since he would be a great main character in the Tron tv series either as a reformed hero or independent program.

Lastly, if they ever do TRON 3, I think it's fair if they use all of us Tron Sector Users to pose as background characters/cast as Subscribed Avatars, FTW.

I never said that I thought every shot in the proof-of-concept was "100% live actors."

I said in some of the up-close shots, the *faces* are the real actors faces, not CGI rendered faces like the CGI characters in "Beowulf."
There's some shots that are CGI, and some that are not.

Which Joseph has said they are recreating a "CGI feel" with live actors, live sets, and real costumes but to have everything look both real, and also have an element of surrealism.
Where the distinction of what is CGI and what isn't is not easily discernable.

The villian in the test footage looks absolutely nothing like Jeff Bridges "de-aged" IMO. The Clu shown in the official trailer does.

Yeah, I've been getting the same vibe too. Honestly, it's really gotta stop. I mean, come on...we're Tron fans. We're suppose to be happy that we're even getting a sequel, not complaining over details that really aren't important.

I also swear some people in these forums attack others just for the fun of it when something is said that's not to their liking.

We are all Tron fans, so lighten up and keep the conversations stuck to Tron, rather than personal attacks or cheapshots on fellow Tron fans who may have a differing opinion in a few regards. It's one thing to critique a movie and game; quite another to defend your opinion to the point of name-calling or condescending sarcasm.

If there's an occasional critique from seasoned Tron veterans who prefer to keep the canon and other things we observed in as gospel that shouldn't be messed with, then you can disagree ... but there's no need to be sassy and snarky about it.

Contrary to Mr. Sinistar's comment, I don't purposely look for stuff to complain about. I just happen to notice it and feel strongly enough about it to bring it up for discussion. If this forum's only purpose is to spread Tron rainbows and blue sky across the internet, then change the color scheme and ban any user who says anything negative about Tron.

Can we maybe get "Tron Critique" spoiler-type quote tags created, so people who are willing to have an adult conversation about Tron can do so while knowing fellow users who also want to have an adult conversation can hover over to read the observations; so the immature can save their eyes from reading critique observations? (I'm being facetious.)

I'd rather some critiques be given from long-time Tron fans and newcomers alike, if they feel the need to ... rather than everyone being silent zombies who will take everything they give us 100% "pure awesome."

If Disney or Propaganda games sometimes views these threads, I think it's nice for them to hear from long-time Tron fans that we love to see and have everything they're working on... it's fantastic! ... but not to get too carried away. The Star Wars franchise is an example of things getting carried away, in a number of respects. If you don't see that, then you may be too young to understand. I don't want the same to happen for Tron. i want to try to nip it in the bud now, rather than wait for it to be too late.

I want them to continue to realize there are some Tron fans over the age of 18 who appreciate the canon and universe enough to want future evolutions to be somewhat grounded by that.

The details may not be important to you, but they are to me, somewhat; otherwise I wouldn't bring them up. If I ever see any complaint from CaptainCR, Mr. Sinistar, ShadowDragon1 or Theflynnabides about the Tron ARG, new Tron toys, Tron at SDCC, Tron Evolution, Tron Legacy or the original film, book or other movie tie-ins, all you're doing is tempting me to say, "Stop complaining about unimportant details. It's got to stop. We're supposed to be happy."
