It has been announced and confirmed that there will be a Metal Gear Solid movie. The Movie seems to be set in the first Metal Gear Solid game that was released for the PS1. However! David Hayter will have nothing to do with this movie leaving alot of MGS fans angry (like myself).
If your a fan then you all know that Hayter is Solid Snake and the internet debate is hot with who should play him. I personally think only Hayter could pull off Snake but I was watching Resident Evil Extinction last night and Oded Fehr looked like a good canditate.

However his voice is completely wrong for the part. Personally I am a lil worried about this movie. I mean it seems like it could not fail with the massive script and good story telling that the games has to back it up already. But can it translate to the big screen? What do you think? Who is your perfect Solid Snake?abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Hehe, if they base it off of MGS4, they could have Harrison Ford play Old Snake, he definitely looks the part...
Sounds kinda interesting, as long as it doesn't end up like this.
Or you could just watch the trailer.
Bob Hoskins (who played Mario in that movie) was recently in an interview concerning that movie. He said everyone who was involved in that movie was a "f***ing idiot".

I used to like it is a kid... but yeah, it's a god-awful film.
No doubt Evil_Tom_Gu will be along soon to rant and rave about how much he loves Metal Gear Solid and how long he's been waiting for this film. When it comes out, he wants us all to go to the cinema dressed as MGS characters. No chance. :P

I've been looking for the original MGS for PS1 lately. I've never played it.
Or any MGS game for that matter...
But I have seen a video of the Psyco Mantis boss fight, and I can't wait to see how that adapts to the silver screen. Maybe the person operating the projector will have to switch the lights on in the theatre or stop the film or something. lol
I read that MGS was considered one of the most cinematic games ever created on the PS1, so it should adapt pretty nicely to a real cinema, hehe.
I hope it's done in the same form as Transformers and Iron Man, meaning, I hope it's enjoyable for people who haven't played the game/aren't big fans of the game.
What I like in my cups of movie awesome:
-Explosions, and lots of 'em
-Over the top stunts and non-CGI special effects
-Real military personell
So, is the movie going to have Japanese actors, and then be dubbed in english? If so, I'm out. I'm not against the Japanese or anything, don't get me wrong; I don't want this thread to end up looking like the "Marvel is on a Roll!" thread by any means. It's just that when I see dubbed english, the uncontrollable dubbing effect (mouth not moving in sync with audio) drives me crazy. Except in Wayne's World 2, that scene was awesome. order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Nah, it'll probably be dubbed in Japanese.
Kojima is a fan of the American cinema... and it really shows. (I just realized that his other game, Snatcher had the same feeling as Blade Runner.)

Wait, you mean dubbed in Japan? Or the movie will be shot in english, dubbed in the Japanese language, and released like that everywhere? I certainly hope it's not the latter.
Just keep in mind, Super Mario Bros. was like the Atari 2600 E.T. of videogame-based movies. Will MGS be the NES of that industry?
Okay, horrible analogy, I know. But seriously, 2008 seems to be bringing us boatloads of awesome announcements and releases. E3 will own. order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

The reason I want the PS1 original is because there's a Dreamcast thing that lets me emulate it. It's called Bleemcast, and it was made and sold by an official company that let it's users play select Playstation games on their dreamcast with slightly smoother and high-res graphics. When I say select PS1 games I mean there's a disk for MGS, and a separate disk for other PS1 games. Sony didn't like Bleemcast emulation, so they sued and lost. They kept sueing and kept losing, but it was costing Bleem (the company that made these things) a fortune (hireing lawyers, etc.) to keep going to court. Sony was rich and eventually won and put Bleem out of buisiness.
The Bleemcast disks required the original PS1 game that it supports. You would put the Bleemcast disk in your Dreamcast, click something on the menu, then replace the Bleemcast disk with the supported PS1 game. I know where to get the Bleemcast disk, in fact the MGS one is the most common, but I can't seem to find the PS1 version of MGS anywhere for under $30. Is it rare?

It was only a matter of time! Much as predicted, I am now here!

I'm torn in two about David Hayter being involved with the film. Let's face it: Hayter is the Solid Snake. Despite this, I think a fresh take on Solid Snake would be interesting.
Hayter already knows Snake's character inside out and has developed the voice that we have all come to know and love. However, he is a screenwriter and voice actor and is probably a voice actor for a good reason.

I agree with KiaPurity. After all, Kojami directed a few films before he went onto directing and producing games.

Hey he was good in Guyver Dark Hero. Probably the only decent actor in that movie. The thing is, this isnt a fresh new take on it. It is a movie version of the Original MGS (Twin Snakes) at Shadow Moses. It might not feel right without him, it wouldnt be so bad if Hayter himself didnt want part in it. But the fact that he submitted alot of work (FREE work) for the movie and wanted so much to take part and Kojima flat out refused seems a little harsh to me.
I think Hollywood has taken over like they do with all Japanese to Western Adaptations. Apparently they want well known stars for MGS. Kojima has said he would love Viggo Mortensen for Snake however he thinks he is a little too old for the role. If it was MGS2 he said Viggo would be perfect but Snake was younger looking in MGS. I think he is looking for some one that he could add age onto with make up in case he wanted to go back and shoot the original Metal Gear games. Thats if this movie isnt just a one off project.
@TRON.dll: Yeah but the Gamecube version is the original game with the updated Graphics from MGS2. And its fantastic its fresh and things are a little different so you cant just power on through the game if you've beated the PS1 version before. Its like a whole new game with the MGS2 engine.

Yeah, I know that. I'll have to give it a shot someday.
That'll be a neat movie, unless it ends up like Super Mario Bros... ugh, now that TV show theme is stuck in my head:
Swing your arms from side to side, come on, get up, let's do the Mario.
Ugh...
Did you know that there was going to be a Ms. Pac-Man movie starring Rosie O'donnel, it got canceled before production, thank god.
Ms. Pacman was supposed to be an accountant who gets really mad at the monsters for stealing her food. Oh, and then there was that canceled Qix movie starring Christopher Walken...

If you want MGS for PSX, you will have to buy Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection as it has both MGS (psx), MGS2 (ps2), MGS3 (PS2)
...however, I'd stay the heck away from the bleemcast version as it does not even improve anything!

I much prefer the PS1 version to the GC version. The graphics of the GC version are too clean and smooth, unlike the pixelated, blocky graphics of the PS1 which I love and really give the game a gritty, darker feel. Also, I think the soundtrack of the PS1 version is way superior to the GC version.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Yeah the MGS2 engine was nice and clean it should have been more like MGS3 which went back to its gritty dark feel.

I must agree that the music for MGS of the PS1 is better, nut I must admit that I do prefer the graphics and game play of MGS for GC.
What's everyone's favourite MGS game? Mine is probably MGS4, despite the ridiculously long cut scenes. I think it rounds off the saga nicely. What do other people think?
