For those that don't know what E3 is:

E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo and is where all of the awesome new stuff that's been hidden under a blanket will be unveiled.

So anyways, who's gonna watch it? Or better yet, who's got an invitation?

The good news about E3 this year is that it's returning to the LA convention center this year. Bad news is that it's still invite only.

Apparently, some gaming site had a security hole that allowed it's members to see top secret E3 information for a while. Most of the leaked info surrounded the XBOX 360. Some examples:

-A new Game Show Channel for the 360
-Avatars (which are like Nintendo's Miis) for your profiles

There was some more stuff but I can't remember it. Here's some Activision leaks:

-Call of Duty 5 to have a survival-horror type experience. Takes place in WWII again. Being developed by the same developers of COD3. Will be available for 360, PS2, PS3, DS, and Wii.
-Guitar Hero World Tour to feature guitar controller with "touch sensitive neck" which will "allow players to wail on solos". Some new confirmed bands (no songs though): The Doors, Ozzy Ozborne, Jimi Hindrix, and Muse, in addition to the ones previously announced including Van Halen and The Eagles.

I'm still not too clear on a date for E3 though. Anyone know?

Oh, and anything you hear about "Nintendo ON" is a hoax.

Yeah, but it's being recirculated around the net and is very believable due to the huge leak.

Here's some info I found:

A major rumor, fueled by posters at NeoGaf, has been spreading throughout the intertubes. It looks as though many E3 secrets have been revealed via a leaked marketing packet now famously known as the IntelliResponse memo. The forum has a host of scanned images of the marketing presentation that seem to back up the series of whoppers. It looks as though Microsoft was hardest hit. Of course, nothing has been confirmed and we have seen hoaxes before, but this may just be a major leak. One thing that looks particularly fishy is one of the scan’s use of the term “Wii Fit Board;” the Nintendo peripheral is actually called the Wii Balance Board (to be more inclusive of future titles). Additionally, a new game called Ultimate Band will be compatible with Rock Band peripherals; this is highly unlikely. Anyway, here’s what the unconfirmed information includes: The X360 will get "Avatars" this holiday season. They will be fully customizable and will enter into many titles as do Nintendo Miis. They are set to replace the current photos that accompany Xbox LIVE accounts. Tony Hawk’s Adrenaline will come with a motion-sensitive, Wii Balance Board-like peripheral for X360 and PS3. Guitar Hero 4 will include 30 songs, two wireless mics with lights, and wireless guitars that have a neck slide function. The neck slide should allow for even better soloing opportunities. Finally, GH4 will let you import tunes via your MP3 player to utilize as if it were a Karaoke machine. Will retail for $179.99. Forza 3 for Xbox 360 will include over 400 cars and 100 tracks. As such, it will come with two-discs. Furthermore, there will be limitless customization options and an assist function to help beginners get into the game. An action adventure title called The Crucible received an in-depth trailer. It is rumored to be the Silicon Knights game being developed for SEGA. Spider-Man vs. Marvel Zombies will come to all major consoles. Call of Duty: World at War cover art was included and is not numbered. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows covert art was also revealed. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 will allow players to choose their side of the fight by selecting from 20 Marvel legends including Wolverine, Venom, the Hulk, Spider-Man, and the Human Torch. Additionally, you’ll be able to mix powers. The example given was that of Spider-Man and Storm, resulting in electrified webs. There are also games like Wii Yoga, Ultimate Band (compatible with Rock Band?), Transformers 2, and Scene It? Pop Culture Edition.

Some interesting points:

Guitar Hero 4 will have 30 songs

Not true. Guitar Hero 4 (AKA World Tour) was confimed long ago to have "More songs than any other Guitar Hero game disk". We're talking around 80 songs here. Not 30.

An action adventure title called The Crucible received an in-depth trailer. It is rumored to be the Silicon Knights game being developed for SEGA.

I believe SEGA recently denied any involvement with this game.

Wii Yoga

Yeah right. Yoga activities were included with Wii Fit, so a game devoted entirely to Yoga seems illogical for something Nintendo would do.

Who knows, maybe it's all fake. What's next? Sega's new gaming console? Gizmondo 2.0? A new Turbo-Graphx? All possible hoaxes. There were actually two big hoaxes revolving around new Sega consoles, both of which would be backwards compatible with any previous Sega game.

Of course, it could all be true. Transformers 2 is confirmed to release in theatres in '09, so a game seems logical.

Only time will tell. E3, here we come!

Dang, that's a shame that Activision pulled out. I still can't comprehend that, though. That huge Intellisponse leak had a ton of Activision-related news in it. Did they just recently pull out? I'm confused and excited, and they don't mix too well.

Hey all, just found out that E3 is going to start on July 14 and will be an all week event. Also, G4 is going to have a "Best of E3 04" feature at 9:00 (central time) tommorow morning (that being Tuesday, July 9).

Also, Nintendo recently said that they plan to unveil several projects at E3 that Reggie Fills-Aime says "will make all gamers excited for".

Awesome.

If you didn't watch the live coverage of Microsoft's press conference (or if you did and your head exploded from awesome-overdose near the beginning), you should go watch the archived version over at G4's site. Somewhere during the conference, Microsoft had a very special guest speaker come and talk about one of the new XBOX live games coming out. Among the announced titles were:

Geometry Wars 2
Galaga Leigons
*something else*

Oh, and the fourth one was the title the guest speaker was talking about. The guest speaker hailed from Aperature (spelling?) Science and was still alive...still alive...still alive...



I'll stop torturing everyone. It's Portal-Still Alive. Unfortunately for me, it's XBOX Live Arcade exclusive (to my furthest knowledge), but I would happily pay a good couple of Wii Points to experience it on my Wii system via the WiiWare service.
