I love the robot in Metropolis.

How about Heartbeeps? Not really, but it has robots!

Avi Wrote:No one has mentioned Short Circuit yet. My son loves that movie.

I was actually thinking of this film when I started my rambling post earlier in the thread. But in typical Todd fashion, I rambled on and lost my train of though.

I thought Short Circuit was an awesome film back in the day. What ever became of John Guenberg? (sp?) He was in pretty much every 80's film and then just vanished only to be seen in the occasional low-budget TV movie.

I loved the robots in Short Circuit and thought the design of them was very realistic for the time. I actually believed they were using at least one fully functional robot during production (via remote, not actual AI). They were not. Like I said - the design was totally believable to me. Unlike the Terminator robot. Major coolness - but totally not achievable with current technology (as in you can't build one that can actually fully articulate and move about on its own power via remote or whatever).

Ok, here's another one I don't think was mentioned. What about Batteries Not Included? It had that 80's touchy sap factor to it, but that was pretty acceptable (and expected) in films at the time. Anyway, I thought those little robot frisbees were pretty cool. The visual FX in that film still hold fairly well today if you ask me. Maybe the lighting isn't always dead-on compared to today's full CG animated FX, but they sure did a great job for the time IMO. The sound design of the robot saucers was excellent as well. All around cool mini-flying saucers from a mini-galaxy far away.

Exactly, and while I am at it, why not "Bicentennial Man" with Robin Williams!

Yeah, I am. Huey Dewey and Louie are excellent robot designs. Functional, expressive, and darn it they are so cute when they waddle around.

Maybe Forbidden Planet or The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Come to think of it, both Alien and Aliens feature androids/synthetics/artificial people in prominent roles and I love those movies.

Yes Todd, you may very well be the only sci-fi enthusiast who doesn't like Blade Runner, which had more android/gynoid main characters than it did human, I think.

Because the first couple of episodes of the original Battlestar Galactica were released in the theater as a feature film, it qualifies for this list because Cylons are therefore movie robots. That goes for Buck Rogers in the 25th Century as well; can't forget the ambuquads - e.g. Twiki - and the computer council - e.g. Dr. Theopolis.

I've read that Star Wars can be seen as being told from the points of view of R2-D2 and C-3PO. Even if that isn't so - there are so many droids in that series that you can't help but include it on any list of robot movies.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture could be considered a robot movie; wasn't V'Ger just a massive robot? There was also the robotic probe V'Ger created in the image of lieutenant Ilia whom V'Ger had killed/absorbed. Then there's any Star Trek: The Next Generation movie because of lieutenant commander Data.

Of course The Terminator and Terminator 2 are right up there with the best of them.

Lastly, there's Runaway with Tom Selleck, Kirstie Alley, and Gene Simmons as the evil scientist who creates those wicked assassin spider robots, the high-speed wheeled smart-bomb bots, and that gun with the heat-seeking bullets that can be set for particular people and avoid hitting everything and everyone else.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

See I had thought to mention that movie but I figured that it's more of a sentient computer than a robot. I also tried to avoid cyborgs seeing as how they're mostly humans with mechanical replacement parts and not really robots.

However, if we are to count sentient computers, then we can't forget Proteus IV from the movie Demon Seed, WOPR from WarGames, Skynet from The Terminator and Terminator 2, and... oh yeah, the MCP from TRON!

WOPR is for the win!

Well, at least until he plays Tic-Tac-Toe with number of players 0.

Also, there's a reference to THX 1138 in the que line for Star Tours at Disneyland. Sometimes, you'll hear some announcer say: Will the person with a speeder with license plate number THX 1138 please move, you are in a no hover zone.

hehe.

What about the upcoming Wall-E? Just saw a trailer and it looks great.

Where?

Although there is an homage to Max from The Black Hole (When te robot comes out of the lava all red w/ spinning arms).

The scene where Elastigirl is flying the jet and is being fired at the plane.

Elastigirl: This is IG-99...

Iron Giant, 1999

The first film The Incredibles' director directed was The Iron Giant.

And yes, I must correct myself on what I said earlier. Transformers is my favorite robot movie.

That's a reach.
Am I alone in thinking that the volcano robot was an homage to Max?

What about Flight of the Navigator? The whole ship was a robot.
Also, I love the ice cave robot from Logan's run(ohh, "shiny").

There's HAL 9000 of the USS Discovery One from 2001: A Space Odyssey, and his Earth-based counterpart SAL 9000.

I'm a little surprized that no one has mentioned Robots seeing as how there are nothing but robots in it!abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

If I have to pick an all-time favorite robot... it has to be Bender Bending Rodríguez of Futurama.
