LCD Monitor Flickering

on Friday, February, 15, 2008 2:58 PM
My HP vs15c LCD monitor is flickering as I type this post. It's looks as if it's not getting enough juice and the backlight is doing the flickering and not the actual computer image. The monitor is almost three years old and came with our HP computer.

Rarely, the backlight stops flickering for a second but then continues to flicker.

What should I do and if my mom and dad have to replace it, what LCD monitor should they get?

Have you tried connecting it to another plug that is not on the same circuit as your computer and printer plugged into it. If it starts flickering like that might mean there is not enough power coming to where it is plugged in curently. Or part of the display in the background like a circuit that the backlighting connecint it to the monitor itself is slowing dying there.

Try just connecting the flatscreen to another plug first to see if there is not enough power going to it first before going drastic of buying a new one.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

If plugging the monitor into a different electrical outlet doesn't help (and I doubt it will help), and checking the power cord shows nothing wrong: do you know how long the warranty is on the monitor?

Sounds like the fluorescent tube inside the montior is on the fritz. If the monitor is under warranty, HP should fix it for free.

If not, then fixing the monitor will likely cost more than buying a new one. You can probably get a 19" LCD monitor very cheap. As for what brand, as long as you stick with a brand name they're generally all okay. Some no-names are iffy.
