WHen I was at Epcot and disney land when I was 16 years old I don't really remeber seeing a ride based for tron itself. I do remember going on the roller coaster ride at disney space mountain I think it was called I think. That had something in the very beginning of some sort related to tron. But that is going bacl like 23 years ago. Unless something has changed that they are introducing a ride based on tron nowadays.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I remember reading somewhere about a TRON Tunnel, but it's probably just a thing of the past now.

The People Mover ride had a small section in a tunnel that was based on TRON, like shadow_user said. But that ride was shut down many years ago.

I'm not sure if Disney ever had plans for a TRON ride or section at Disney World or Disney Land. I think they did. I seem to remember concept art for a sort of real "Flynn's Arcade" attraction. But it never went past the planning stages.

I have a theory that the Tunnel of TRON will come back:

It all starts with (believe it or not) Star Tours at disneyland.

Star Tours is planned to undergo a renovation soon. However, when Star Tours originally opened in the 80's, lines were so huge they went from the entrance to the ride to the entrance of the park. Astro Orbiter and Buzz Lightyear attract big enough lines near midday as it is, and if "Star Tours 2" attracts huge lines, then there will be MASSIVE bottlenecks at the main entrance to Tommorowland. One solution would be to move the Astro Orbiter to it's previous location where "The Observation" currently is. Now, the area under observation was the station for the People Mover. So, with all eyes in the sky, they would need to reopen the People Mover, and, with the Tunnel of TRON area still unused, maybe a Tunnel of TRON 2.0?

Then there would be the (hopfully) successful movie that would cause Disney to figure, "Hey, this is better than Hannah! You, go sell her contract to Sports Illistrated and start working on TRON T-Shirts, lunchboxes, games, coloring books...".

As you can see, I'm not a big Hannah Montana fan.

dude thats.... awesome how do you now this?
the tron 2.0 idea would be cool but what it be about, like would it be about thorne being destroyed or jet being digitized into the computer world?

and when they open the tunnel they could sell toys, comic books and tron 2.0!

Epcot had a section of Communicore closed off for a new TRON arcade w/ a beautiful mural that I saw back in '82-'83, but it didn't open. I know there was a picture of it in the file archives section.

Also, there was a short section of Journey into Imagination that had the "wormhole" sequence projected on a tunnel that your car went through.

Early on, they had an activity at the end of Imagination where you and 4 other people stand in front of a blue screen, and they place you in front of the rolling meteor scene from The Black Hole, and you had to act like you were running across the bridge.

I found video from Peoplemover that someone took from 1991. At 1:50 into the video, the Tron Tunnel begins... :

I've read that the PeopleMover was a very high maitinence attraction that constantly broke down. As you can sort of see in Mr. Sinistar's vid, there's some tires on the track that cause the trains to move at a constant speed throughout the entire ride. This was expensive to operate, though, and so when they built the Disney World version, they used a more efficient Linear Induction Motor (LIM) ride system. Essentially, Disneyland's PeopleMover was a roller coaster with breaks and accelerators everywhere.

Yeah, the tires used were Goodyear tires.

I was VERY young when I was there with my father (heck, might even not be the same place), but I *clearly* remember seeing four different TRON arcade games sitting in the arcade, back to back.

Ok, unrelated, kinda. But I'm miffed at my dad to this day for not letting me go see what they were and play them. >

Don't you wish your corruption was hot like me?
