And no, I don't think that Disney would try to intentionally kill something. What I do think is that they hoped that they would have something that would make them a butt-load of money with very little effort behind promotion (i.e. Hannah Montana or High School Musical)

Disney is very much these days about massive gains with little investment, so I think they were testing the Tron waters, so to speak. Which is why I am surprised to hear about a Tron sequel and really will only believe it once I see it.

Actually, he's right. Killer App on the Xbox was released the same day as Halo 2. A lot of us said that it was an extremely bad idea, and I think the sales of the Xbox version proved it. (The price of the game was cut in half only a month after it was released, a classic sign that it had been selling poorly.) Killer App was completely overshadowed by Halo 2.

As for the original question. I wish I knew the answer to that. You'd think they wanted it to succeed, but some of their actions were self-sabotaging if you ask me. I really don't get Disney. But I'm guessing there are too many cooks in the kitchen, spoiling the broth.

I won't put it pass Disney but still they don't know what they have its new concept life in side a computer. It didn't bother me in the slighest, if you remember Tron kissed Yori in the end of the movie. :P

Anyway, KH2 seems to be a completely separate thing [from the Tron PC/X-Box games] considering Tron fits very well in Japan considering how they've got quite few things that do with computers/programs/robots, etc etc...


Also, note that 360 *does not* support Tron 2.0 Killer App at all. Not to mention that the two supposed Tron arcade games were to make an appearance on 360 Live... and as far as I know, they still have *not* and the date has passed.

That's the thing . . . the Tron DVD did not sell poorly. In fact, my understanding is that the sales completely took Disney by surprise. It did much better than they expected.

However, the ad for the game was very ambiguous in nature and no one really knew what it was for until much later. Many people thought it was hinting at a movie sequel.

Also, as we can see, the game was originally going to be called Tron Killer App. Then it changed to Tron 2.0. Finally - rather than let the Killer App moniker go to waste - they brought it back with Tron 2.0 Killer App.
