A few weeks ago Frodo had a night of passion with one of the girls from Hakuna Matata Rattery. Today he became the proud father of 13 babies (although unfortunately one was stillborn).

I really don't know, but they seem to manage it. One of my old girls once had a litter of 18.

Looks like I get to keep all 3 of the boys from this litter. Their names are going to be Tron, Ram and Flynn.
Back in the day I also had a doe whose name was Yori so these won't be my first Tron-themed rats.

It looks like they all have their father's coloring. O.o (I'm not very experienced when it comes to rats) but they're awfully adorable!

Bucks can take care of their offspring in the wild but it's not advised in captivity as otherwise they'd be mating with the does and you'd be over-run with babies, not to mention that it's not a good idea for a doe to be pregnant while she's trying to raise a litter as it's too much of a strain.
