The Orange Box

on Thursday, October, 11, 2007 6:08 PM
Anybody else grab one, or order it over Steam?

I played Episode 2 a little bit last night and I can't wait to get back to it tonight. Man, does Valve know how to tell a story, or what?

Also, I've been very interested in playing Portal so I figured I'd get a quick taste of it before I hit the hay...and got so hooked on it that I stayed up past 4:00 AM until I finished it. That portal device is awesome, and I hope it's somehow in Episode 2 or maybe Episode 3.

TF2 playing yet to be done, thought all I hear about it is extremely good things.

I certainly have, being quite fond of the Half-Life series of games myself. I found Portal to be great, a little choppy on my Laptop though.

I don't think the portal device will be in Episode 2 or 3. But those brilliant people at Valve always seem to impress me with how they take that one step and they're a good year ahead of everyone else. Game play and Story-wise.

I really have no interest in Team Fortress 2. But if push comes to shove and I have nothing better to do, I'll probably end up playing it. It always happens.

I got 1/2 Life 2 on the X-Box a couple of years ago on a whim and by the end of the game I swore it was the best FPS I had ever played. I still feel that way.

I got Episode 1 for the PC and was impressed by the look. I loved that splash screen at the beginning with the vortex around the top of the Citadel.

Controlling gameplay for me on the PC ruined the whole thing though. I just couldn't get my fingers or mind wrapped around using the keyboard as a control device. I put myself in god mode and walked through the whole thing because I wanted to follow the story, but... I just couldn't control the game. Not the game's fault... it's mine for not being able to adapt to the keyboard.

I still don't have one of the latest groups of consoles to have come out.... but... I think it's going to be a PS3. The PS3 is slated to get the Orange Box in December and I hope that's true because I want to play Episode 1 again..as well as Episode 2 and Portal.

Silver got the orange box and I want to play Portal. That game looks so much fun.

I thought it was hilarious when the robots would scream "OUCH" whenever Silver'd shoot a portal underneath them.

I'm not going to get the entire Orange Box (I find the Half-Life 2 games to be incredibly boring and TF2 doesn't interest me) so all I'm gonna get is Portal

1) The Orange Box has all of the Half-Life games, right?
2) Does the Orange Box come for PS2?
3) Do you have to pay more per game?

1) Half-Life 2, Half_Life 2 Episode One, Half-Life 2 Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 are the games included in The Orange Box. It's quite a deal, really.
2) No. PC, XBOX 360, and PS3.
3) I don't understand the question.

If you're downloading them off of stream, yes.

But really, all five games come in one box which is basically, 50ish bucks. You don't pay any extra for those games.

Brought Portal off steam yesterday, downloaded it, and beat the main game in 3 hours and 6 minutes

Portal was great, and in some places it was actually CREEPY, which is actually quite an accomplishment

About HL2, while it does tell a compelling story, its lackluster action and lack of Barney and Lamarr made me quite dissapointed with the game, which was a shame since I loved the original Half-Life (I own it and all the expansions for it)

But hey, when my brother buys The Orange Box I'll get Episode One off of him and play through it, see if it makes me interested in the games again.

I loved the ending of Portal; not many other other game endings motivate you to watch the credits with extra material.

I'm really optimistic that in Episode Three we'll in some way encounter the fruits of Aperture Science's research on the Borealis!abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I guess we've got 4chan to thank for that one. 4chan . . . *Shudders*

As for Orange Box: not until I upgrade my computer. Which should finally happen next month. I could play it now I suppose. All the games would run fine. But I want the best experience possible.

I'm a little ticked off that HL2 and Ep1 come with it, though. Since I already have them. I wish Valve hadn't canceled the Black Box.

1. No, the original Half-Life does not come with the Orange Box, you have to buy it separately on STEAM, unless you're happy with the Original Half-Life, and it's expansions the way it was sold originally, in stores. On a CD ROM. (I own the Half-Life Generation box. Which was before STEAM came along and changed a perfectly good way of getting games anyway. But that's just my opinion.)

2. The Black Box was very much like the Orange Box, But it only had the new games on it, (Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2) not including Half-Life 2 and Episode 1. It was canceled for retail and now only available to Steam users with a ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics card.

TronFaq, that's sorta solved. You can gift the orange box copies of the games you already own to other people.

Basically, they understand that if you already own legit copies of a game but you're ending up with two copies, you can basically "gift" them or something like that.

I'm thinking about picking up the orange box for myself next paycheck. @_@

I got mine last week. I played Ep: 2, beat it, and loved it. We're given a little more information about G-Man and someone else he is connected with. Apperently he is free to roam now and I seen him walking about on two maps so far.

As always, it's an impressive engine and runs fine on my old PC (still needing to upgrade to play new games though) at high detail.

However... I still hate steam.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion
