Nice post on the main page, Todd. I think you summed it up perfectly. Tron has been an important part of my life for 25 years now, and hasn't diminished since the first time I've seen it. One day, I'll own the arcade game, I just KNOW it
Awesome image by the way Sketch!

It's amazing to think of it: both Tron and I just turned 25 this year. Even though it's hard to find anything Tron at Disney World or anywhere else, but the fact that they still retain both the arcade machine and the original suit at Planet Hollywood means a lot to me.
Here's for more years ahead!

I remember when the Tron machine was at Disneyland. Every year when my family would go, I would make sure that I would stop and play at least once. Such an awesome game!

Thanks for the compliments on the article, programs!
It has been a collaborative effort between TronFAQ, Sketch and myself. We've been chatting about the 25th anniversary of TRON for a while now. Although I wrote the main portion of the article, everything fell in to place as a result of our collaborative efforts.
My favorite part of the article is Sketch's awesome custom made TRON 25th Anniversary imagery!
And if you all read through to the end of the article, you should have picked up on the fact that the celebration doesn't stop with the posting today. There is indeed more to come!
So grab yourself an energy drink or two and get rezzed-up.
There's more memory merging, loaded data packets, and cool bits and bytes headed down the digital turnpike. Keep your input buffers open and trained on TRON-Sector in the micro-cycles to come.

Cool! It's the 25th Anniversary of TRON and new things are happening?! Awesome! Love the wallpapers. I have a hard time finding awesome TRON wallpapers and anything for my PC TRON related these days.
I knew there was a reason I had this dream a while back! Okay, this is kinda long and you're all going to think this is strange, but a few weeks ago, out of no where I had this dream about an alternate reality where TRON was released a few years later and by that alone, everything was changed for the better.
Apparently, someone at Disney caught wind of the timing and putting it against ET being a bad idea, so they decided to hold off on releasing the movie for a while. Instead, they focused on fixing some of the glitches in the movie and released it at just the right time. I'm not sure of the exact time, but it was at the hight of the Atari & Intellivision wars and as the arcade game era was on an upward trend. It was a big hit and inspired a lot of people. As a result, technology of all kinds grew by leaps and bounds, but especially in the special effects and computer area. I'd say they were at least 10 years ahead of us. Disney made TRON sequels, theme rides, games, tons of toys, TV series, and it spawned a division of special effects that took the place of what we know as PIXAR. As a result, other movies and movie companies turned to them and were even more of a smash hit than they were originally. Movies like the Back to the Future trilogy, the original Batman, Men in Black, and other movies. There were even some that were made more recently, that were made earlier because the technology wasn't limited.
I know it sounds weird, but it was extremely detailed. I saw what the TRON toys looked like, how they were arranged on the shelves, and what kind of shows they had. There were live action shows as well as animated ones. Also, Back to the Future did so well that it got a live action series spin off, but it didn't do well because Michael J. Fox only did the pilot episode and not the whole series. He was getting movie offers left and right. Too bad about his latter bout with parkinsons... Anyway, video games and toy technology advanced swiftly, and you wouldn't believe the sort of stuff I saw. It's hard to remember it all now, but there were hand-held holographic games and action figures with glowing circuitry patterns. They used available lighting, and would also glow in the dark. No batteries! Twas truely and awesome, awesome dream. It was all because of TRON too.
So I guess that was a little dip into a parallel universe where possibly the 20th anniversary of TRON is going on. Or maybe something else. Eheh... Sorry for the long post, but I've had that in my head for a while. Just thought I'd share, and it seemed an appropriate time. ^_^; "The dark can embrace the light, but never eclipse it." |

Welcome.
That one has been on my digicon rough sheet for a while, just the original version was much shorter in length compared to the actual Carrier icon. I finally sat down and revamped the graphic. https://www.flickr.com/photos/blue_bezel/ |
