I am just 25 years old, so I was literally just born when this movie came out. I had heard about it once or twice over the years growing up, but never put any thought into actually seeing it.
I had finally watched only part of this movie a couple of weeks ago on a few hits of LSD. When I say part, the DVD was messed up and an error would occur about a half hour into it. But I didn't need to see the entire movie to be absolutely blown away. I have recently bought a new copy of it and watched a little more than half of it. (sober) I hope to finish it soon and explore every "extra" on the DVD.
I have always seen pictures, shapes and colors in my mind, with closed eyes, on a black background. But I didn't really know what it was until I seen TRON with the colors on a black background. I realized things like TRON are what I have been seeing in my own mind since a kid. Steven totally captured the realm of another dimension when he did the black background with high color outlines.
It is amazing this movie was made 25 years ago, I would have thought it just came out.
Obviously talk of TRON 2.0 has been in the making for years and years. But to no avail, still no 2.0.
What could be the hold up? Is Steven perhaps waiting for even newer technology to start creating this film? Perhaps TRUE 3-D quality with goggles needed?
That would be the only thing that would solidify 2.0 as historic as the original.
Thoughs?

Hey PsychedelicWonders, welcome to the Sector!
Just to point out, although there has been no Tron movie sequel, there was a PC game released in 2002 called Tron 2.0. It captures the world of Tron just as well as the original, and if you haven't had a chance to play it yet I suggest you pick up a copy as soon as you can!
Although I'm not sure who created the 'circles with endless lines of shapes' on the background of the page (but I'd take a guess at either Auric or Sketch, correct me if I'm wrong here), they're based upon the map of the game grid seen in the digital world transition sequence and in Sark's control room.
Hope you stick around!

Greetings, PsychedelicWonders and welcome to TRON-Sector!
I'm glad you picked up your own TRON DVD and got to finish watching the amazing film we all know and love so much around here!
I'm so happy to hear you say "It is amazing this movie was made 25 years ago, I would have thought it just came out." The film blew my mind when I saw it in 1982, with its amazing visuals and cool concept - it still looks futuristic to me today. More often than not I hear younger people refer to TRON as "bad" and how it has such "laughable computer animation compared to today." Good to know that there are those who still can appreciate the groundbreaking film and actually get it at the same time.
I'm not one to condone the use of any potentially harmful substance, however if you find yourself about to go on any tips in the near future, might I recommend a very short production of my own? It may be enjoyed best while under the influence. It's not as cool as TRON or anything, but I think it will indeed make a smile on your face. Click the link to watch: On the Cutting Room Floor of Oblivion. QuickTime is required to play it.
A couple of threads you may want to hit are:
What's with your name?
And...
Don't forget to PING in every time you have yourself Another dose of TRON
I think you'll enjoy your time here at The Sector

Hey thanks TheReelTodd, i will check out your videos soon, ive just been super busy.
Even though some things do look dated and "1980's" over all the film was ridiculous, and it even gave it kind of a cool retro look.
Boingo, of course people still do that! this is planet earth!
