I've finished my short movie project, Thanks to all you guys, you make this happen. I'll have it available in two media outlets, You-tube, and Filefront. In the future, if anyone wants to see this in high quality, download it from filefront, or I'll make larger, higher quality videos.
Enjoy!

.avi:
http://files.filefront.com/Jades_Tron_Theatre.avi/;7503429;/fileinfo.htmlyou-tube version coming soon.
Shrink your video down to 50% or whatever makes it non pixelated. I can't fix it, w/o remaking a new one. Phooey.
If you're wondering why I suck at making videos, it's because I shrank it to play on you-tube, unknowing that it would look all fuzzy if I did that. Please download it, since it's a pile when you view on filefront, and you-tube.
I made a few references in the video, that go over a few heads. Let it grow on you..
Why Ramstein, for example? does the berlin wall tie in to the video? Bestrafe mich=punish me. I liked the thought of a real James Bond theme in a mmorpg angle. |

I have too MAny questions; I'll condense it into one:
HOW?
How'd you Change the disk?
How's you make the MCP level?
How'd you make the people dance? And just How in general?
And what references were you talking about?
How'd you jump super high?

I'll answer these how's, as best, and as easily as possible, although I'd have to copy and paste from ldso.net to do so, so I'll link it.
The Ancient disk mod was a creation by Xistence, a while back. He created this modification to the Tron 2.0 disk to convert 2.0's to the classic used in the movie Tron. It is a file, which has an installer, which installs it instantly. The disk also sounds like the original, rather than the Tron 2.0 disk.
I haven't created maps which contain MCP, but they are: XMCP created by Xistence, and Vman's Vman_DMworld.
The multiplayer characters which dance around, are either effects of a bug in the game, where a player fragments a Pbit, or a cluster near AI characters, and they fail to derez, causing this flailing remenant. Pretty funny.
Then there are realistically dancing characters, which if I'm not mistaken, were the first to be animated by Mor Evil, a Developer and co-founder of ://ldso, using original software used in the creation of the game.
The jump is a secret. The rest, I'll link to the LDSO forums to fill in the blanks on references. Here
Hope you liked it!

@jademz
It's a very cool video, i dig it very much! The outro-music is my fav!
Cool stuff
@cam_the_man
The disc-modification was done easily and fast, it was just an exchange of existing textures and sounds. The backbone in form of the TCDG-folder just needed some investigation in the functionality of the Jupiter-engine.
The MCP was created by myself with the intention to get close to the film as possible, so it needed its time to be created ( about 1 - 1 1/2 week of pure working time, shared over a few weeks of work ). Only thing needed there was to watch the film so many times that you even see scenes of it while you sleep . I can't even count how many times i saw Tron already just for some map-remakes from film-scene.
If you liked the MCP-map you should also have a look on dso_da_rebound, other map from me and based on the Jay Alai - Scene of the film.
You're welcome to ask more questions if you want to know more specific things.

Actually, my CTB map was the first multiplayer map to have interactive characters that talked and danced, hidden as an easter egg.
I also assisted Mor and VMan on their maps, for the same things.
Yes, I am done bragging now.

What did you use to record the ingame video? I have been using ZD record and although it's ok, it's not that good.

Jade used FRAPS.
http://www.fraps.com/
There's also another similar program called Gamecam.
http://www.planetgamecam.com/
Unfortunately, while both offer free trial versions, the free versions are somewhat crippled. Both put logos on the videos, and only allow recording for a limited time.

I tried using fraps before and it was very slow on my PC. Perhaps they upgraded it to run smoother...
ZD record is very good when recording emu games like on MAME and KEGA... that's what I use on my Amiga game reviews.....
BTW: I'm starting on PC now and would really like to get things to work. As soon as I do I'll let everyone know because I want to to a review of Tron 2.0....
Thanks for the input..

Yay! Could you do a review of MegaRace for DOS? If you want I could snail mail you a CD-R for the game.
Also, on the subject of video capture, DOSBox (the best emulator for DOS games) has a built-in video capture, but it uses it own codec and the exported video's frame rate is very high. However you can fix that with VirtualDub.
BTW, does ZD record work with TRON 2.0 and Halo PC?
EDIT: Jade, those maps are nice! Great video.

Thanks for your compliments, I've been really busy taking tests, (passed! =D) but I wanted to let you guys know I'm going to try to make them better than that small POS video, I filled around 40 gigs of drivespace, and had to get a second to complete it. lol.
I just reopened my myspace, since I couldn't find any good hosts. I noticed alot of pep. seem to be into tron there! nice.
Here's the link to the video: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2030582429
If anyone has a myspace.. (I know several folks here do) I'll drop them a request, or vice versa.
