No.

TRON is a security program, and Windows Vista sees it as a threat to the system. It knows what TRON did to the MCP and does not want that to happen all over again, so the programmers of Vista made sure that...

Sorry - just being silly.

I have no idea if it works on Vista. I'd say the answer to that question lies within the compatibility of the hardware drivers in Vista.

It will be interesting to find out once someone reports in on installing TRON 2.0 on a Vista machine.

I know several TRON-Sector members plan on holding off on Vista at least until it seems more universally compatible with things. wwwmwww has Vista already - I think he's the first member to chime in saying he has it. But I don't think he has TRON 2.0.

Yeah, it works on Vista. I dont have Vista, but a few people I know do. From what I hear you have to give it permissions to run. I haven't heard a problem yet. The patch for XP works, as does everything else you'll need like custom maps, they're nice!abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Yep, I heard it runs pretty well on Vista. Though I wouldn't be surprised if you had to give it administrative privileges for it to work 100% properly. I'm also guessing that people are talking about the 32-bit version of Vista working okay with the game. The 64-bit version is a bit more cranky. But Tron 2.0 will probably work on the 64-bit version as well.

I don't have plans to use Vista as my main OS until I build a new computer, which won't happen until the fall. So until then, my FAQ probably won't have many updates that verify how to use Tron 2.0 in Vista.

I might install the 32-bit version of Vista on my 2nd PC before the fall and dual boot it with XP, just to try it out before then.

TRON 2.0 works great with Vista - it even shows up with information in the Games Browser

As far as running as admin..I have disabled UAC as I'm the only user so in effect - I'm always running as admin.

My only beef with tron 2.0 is lack of higher resolutions and widescreen modes.

I havn't tried Tron 2.0 on my Vista yet, but if other experiences with games on vista are anything to go by, it should be fine.

some of my other experiences:

Prey - was playing really badly pre vista, now i play it on maximum settings with no problems.

Oblivion - same, only not as bad to start with.

so yeah, works fine... aparrently.

Tron works great on Vista, only prob is if you use a widescreen display. Everything looks a bit 'squeezed' hehe. Unfortunately it depends on the engine.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlineorder abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

in complete contradiction to my previous post here,

I AM COMPLETELY UNABLE TO RUN TRON 2.0 IN VISTA!
As you can imagine, this angers me an awful lot.

what happens...

when I run it the little blue option box pops up, click play game, SOMETHING loads, then my screen goes completely black for about a minute or 2, then i get blue screen of death and my computer restarts.

my computer obviously has a problem with the monolith game engines because this happens with Aliens vs Predator 2 as well.

does anyone have any helpful advice...please?

Hmm, okay. First off, are you using the same computer as before when you last played Tron 2.0? Is the only thing you upgraded, the version of Windows you are running (XP to Vista)?

If components in the PC have changed, then it could be a problem with the copy protection. The copy protection used is a bit flaky.

Are you using the latest available Vista driver for your video card? The video drivers from both companies for Vista have been pretty bad, though they are getting better lately.

Some things you can try (off the top of my head):

Download and install this patch:
http://files.filefront.com/tron_update_v1x042cengexe/;7957226;/fileinfo.html
Just install it over top of the game and any previous patch you've used.

Update your video driver to the latest, if you haven't already.

Also, turn off the sidebar if you have it enabled. I've heard that the sidebar causes some games to freak out.

Do you have UAC turned on or off? Some games won't work properly unless you run them in Administrator mode.

There are other possibilities, but I'd say these are the main culprits.

I got this computer in december last year, it was running media centre XP. then I upgraded to vista home premium when it arrived.

i don't think I ever played tron 2.0 when it was media centre edition.

but no, just an upgrade, no new hardware tweaks or components

yes I do have the vista drivers from nvidia. it was a mistake to download them but I wanted my computer to be up-to-date.

i'll give these troubleshooting tips a try then update this post [or add a new one.]on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

Yeah, some programs only work on Vista when you run them as an Admin for some reason :S

I am not personally buying vista over here. Due to not being good enough fo what I need to do that I cannot already do with my ubuntu over here. And I had already bought an oem version of XP pro for my Dell system for dirt cheap price. (25 smackers for that one.) and it is usable for my two dell computers and my ibm thinkpad over here. No need to shuffle Disks around except for my thinkpad where I have a second drive of 30 gigs that I can swap out and run Ubuntu linux instead of Windows XP. And my windows XP is for programming in windows only. Otherwise not more software from MS for me on there OS side.

End of line

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

well, I've tried everything you people have suggested, and Tron 2.0 and AvP2 still don't work. i think i'm just going to have to get used to the fact that Tron 2.0 is dead to me

Prankster, one quick thing I'd like you to try.

When you run the game launcher, click the Options button. In there, put an X in the box that says "Disable Sound". Then try running the game again.

Let's see if the game works, if you disable the sound. About 90% of the time, problems in Tron 2.0 have to do with sound.

What sound card do you have? If you have a Sound Blaster from Creative, do you have Alchemy? Microsoft made a really bone-headed move with Vista, where they took out support for the DirectX sound used by most games. So Creative had to write a program called Alchemy to restore that functionality.

Wait a minute. You're saying Microsoft took out support for DirectSound and DirectMusic? Is it just me, or does every stinkin' video game that was made for Windows, in the last 5 years, uses that audio engine?

...

Does Microsoft have their heads up their butts or something?

Yup, that's correct. Microsoft completely re-architected how audio works in Vista.

Games that use DirectSound (not sure about DirectMusic, but I imagine it's the same situation) will end up playing in stereo, with no hardware acceleration. Game creators are expected to use OpenAL instead, which is more or less a replacement.

So while it's all fine and dandy with newer games that use OpenAL (they will work properly on Vista), all the older games that used DirectSound will need Alchemy in order get 5.1 Surround, use EAX, and use hardware acceleration.

Microsoft seems to think the new audio code in Vista is a step forward, but I'm really not so sure.

I don't think I have any sound card. I plug my speakers into the socket on the motherboard.

I tried that disable sound thing, and it still doesn't work.

Okay, then the problem isn't sound.

One last stab at the problem. Download this and install it:

http://www.flightxpress.de/files/0304/Tools/EndItAll2.zip
I have read that it still works on Vista. The only problem is, you have to run it in Administrator mode or else Vista will complain. To do that, you right click on the program icon (after it's installed) in Windows Explorer by going into the folder where it's installed, right click, choose "Run As" and select Administrator. Unless you turned UAC off, and in that case this might not be necessary.

After you run the program, click on the icon that looks like a couple of skulls and crossbones. The program will shut down all unneccessary programs. Then try running Tron 2.0 again.

If that doesn't work, then we'd have to get into some complicated diagnosis as to what's causing the problem. My feeling is, if this last tip doesn't work, you'll probably have to wait until you reformat the computer and reinstall Windows before you can get the game to work. Either that, or maybe when you update your video driver again the game will start working.

I know this is an old thread but Im dredging it up because I had similar problems.

Hardware specs:

Amd 2600+ xp (barton)
1gb ddr333 ram
Ati 9700 Pro AGP
Hard drives: primary is seagate 300gb ata 133 (100gb c: 200 D
Secondary is a maxtor 250 all e:
MSI 7801 Via Chipset (realtek ac97 audio)
I also have a c-media USB headphone/mic set

The game would run fine for a few minutes then crash and reboot the pc. One time it did BSOD and gave me a error in the vid card driver. I tried installing the most current vid card drivers from ATI but in the case of the 9700 pro it completely disables all hardware acceleration and TnL so Tron wouldn't even load. I rolled back the drivers to the vista default ones and got my acceleration back. Finally I disabled the USB headset and viola no more crashing (at least very little at this point. If your sound is realtek based there is a vista driver available at therealtek site that works well, no digital or surround of course, but it works.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
