So I opened the dryer today to get my clothes out and *ploop* out drops a memory stick.
I had left it in my pants when I washed and dried them. Guess what? It still works!!
Amazing.

heh my friend is the unluckiest person ever. he left his new phone and his ipod nano in his trousers when they went into the wash! unfourtunatly, it turned out, they're not as invincible as your memory stick My humble little internet slice. Visit, read, comment, and laugh (with, not at I hope...)

My old, naff, cheap 64MB pendrive survived being washed three times, and still works to this day (I just don't have a use for it, except occasionally when I lose my new pendrive).

Love the jump drives. I have a 512 meg and a 2 gigabyte one over here. Great to transfer between systems. Or carry important documents between places that you need them to be. I'm lucky on the two that I hae here they are linux compatable as well. So i is easier for transfering to them too. Mind you I haven't put one in the washer yet though. (KNocking on wood.)

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Amazing is right!
It survived the wash AND the dry?
Wow.
I recently got a 1GB microSD card for my phone. I hope it is as rugged! Do you have a microSD card? These things are smaller than my pinky-nail! I've read a lot of people who complain about it loosing and/or corrupting their data. I hope that does not happen with mine. I love technology, but don't really trust in its reliability these days.
Then again, your story offers a little hope. Very cool.

Yes, I do. I store music, video and sound on it on my phone. It's amazing to think you can pick one up under $50 now.
However, if I wash that, it would mean I washed my phone. And then I'd be in a world of hurt.
I guess you could say I'd be Wash-Burned.
get it? heh?

Luckily I've never done _that_ (my computer has enough problems as it is!) but speaking of electronic things being tougher than you thought, I have around here somewhere an old Nintendo Power issue with a kind of funny story in the "letters" section.
Evidently this kid was playing Tetris on his Game Boy with the car windows open while his family was driving through the Grand Canyon (why he was playing a game he could play at any time while they're visiting the freaking GRAND CANYON is another question, but hey), when the car went around a sharp curve, taking the kid by surprise, and causing the Game Boy to fly straight out the window.
It plummetted down, down a steep cliff...but they eventually found it again. How? By tracking down THE TETRIS MUSIC!! It was not only okay, it was _still...playing_!
Wow.
In the same issue, they also had a story about how the movers accidentally put a chair on top of the Nintendo console (this is the original big boxy kind) and put a _hole_ straight through the middle of it with a chair leg, _and it still played games afterwards_.
Dang. Wish _my_ computer stuff was that tough! :P

Dang! That's a good system (I have a Dreamcast that survived being fed 220v, but htat's it)
I'm trying to waterproof my eight-core system (why? because it has to go in a boat, and you always want to have two layers of proofing around a vital system) and it's harder than I thought...
this said, you CAN make a reasonably drop-proof laptop by replacing the hard drive with a big CompactFlash card, which isn't that tricky and takes about 10 minutes of work. Works best on older laptops because they tend to have fewer fans.

Heh, only if my best friend's original gameboy (the giant one) was like that. It was destroyed after she banged on it in anger. I saw the remains of it and I'm like "Jeez, Nintendo really doesn't make things that last long..." but in the same vein, the exact same gameboys have survived a bombing, so here:
I don't get it. How can a gameboy survive a bombing but not survive being thwacked by my best friend? O_o
As for the memory stick. That's a doozy. o_oorder abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online
