Thanks Dave for the info. I'll try and get over to Barnes & Noble tomorrow and check it out. I appreciate you popping in to update us on any Tron news!

Here's the cartoon Dave was talking about...
I do find it odd that they would slam Tron, but then have an article interviewing one of the stars of Tron in the same magazine. Anyone notice that the lightcycles appear to be driving backwards?

If that's supposed to slam Tron, that's a poor job of doing it... it's just very confusing and makes no sense at all.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online

It seems more to me like it's bashing The Matrix for being too much like Tron. But the backwards Lightcycles and yellow CLU/Tron are just odd.

You're right... it took me several tries to interpret it, but what I am guessing is they're saying Tron would rather escape his own movie and be in The Matrix, which is a much better film. Pftt... as if.
Oh... and there's this too....
Actor appearances? When did that happen?

We've had Cindy Morgan show up few times.
Although, I think it means more like "actors showing up at a con"-type news. Kia: Cool. I'm a infamous mythological perfect User.

Since when did Tron turn yellow? :P I'd like to see Clu escape safely on a lightcycle, but not to hide until "The Matrix"...
I think the cartoon can kinda be interpreted either way (snarking at Tron, or snarking at the Matrix for being too similar)--I am not really sure myself--but I do know I like that goofy little cartoon about the movie in a much earlier Starlog FROM 1982, better.
Actually I think I might be more inclined towards thinking they're snarking the Matrix for being too similar...if only because I do that kind of thing myself. Whenever something reminds me of something else that was made earlier and/or I like better, I always sarcastically yell out a catch-phrase/quote/reference to the other thing, like an "Aha! I'm onto ya. Don't you try and fool _me_." Such as, whenever I see something that reminds me of TRON, I'll generally yell out "Greetings, program!"
I'm always doing that. Putting two similar things together in the same sentence as a way of showing: look how close these things are. Ha, ha, I just _wonder_ what the later one was inspired by?
Maybe THEY didn't mean it that way, but if I made that cartoon, that's totally what _I_ would've meant. (shrug)

Not a terribly good cartoon . . . maybe the oddities in it were intentional, but I think it's more a case of the artist not really knowing Tron very well to begin with.
So to slam Tron when he doesn't even know it properly and can't get his facts straight (Tron is blue, not yellow, and Light Cycles going backwards?) means the joke is on the artist and Starlog.
It is kind of strange though, to be reminiscing about Tron on one page (Cindy Morgan interview) and then slam it on another page.

Yeah.. maybe it isn't a slam. But then again maybe it is. Who knows.. the humor is somewhat ambiguous.

Well, at any rate, I agree with TronFAQ for saying that by goofing on things such as colour that are so _obvious_ to anybody who actually KNOWS the movie, the joke is at least partly on the cartoonist him/herself. :P
In other news, I have changed my avatar to a picture taken from a piece of my own artwork...why? It was weirding me out to see my real-life face looking back at me from every post. I like...never do that.
This guy is a Blue, but I'm still really a Yellow. Yeah.
Anyway.

I don't know... Maybe I'm taking it personal tonight, but it does in someway seem like a slam to me... I could be wrong of course, but then again I never won a reward for being bright.. |

It's a definite slam.
But that's okay; I haven't bought Starlog in years, and this only encourages me to continue the trend.

Everybody stop quoting me being wrong, it's embarrassing! :P
Off-topic: I dislike the "quote" function on messageboards, anyway. I feel that if the thing you're replying to is right there on the same page, you can just say "I agree/disagree about what so-and-so said..." and then people are capable of scrolling up and finding out what they said on their own.
Also I don't like reading posts that are mostly made up of stuff I've already read. (shrug)
Anyway, thanks, Boingo! I need to upload the full version of that one of these days...
I can't comment on the Cindy Morgan interview as I don't have a copy of the issue and therefore can't read it yet. Heh. But I do think it's interesting that they advertised our site right in Starlog! Gah. Now lots of more nerds (and I mean that in a good way, 'cos of course we're all nerds here too--and PROUD OF IT, BABY!) can come by and see us babbling like idio--er, I mean, read our intellectual discourse.

You're not wrong.. it's just none of us really knew/ know what to make of that cartoon. Some people think it's a slam, and some don't know what to make of it. It's not about being right or wrong. We're all adults.. we can discuss our opinions here

I'm not saying you can't...but...I get self-conscious when people keep showing my exact words back to me again. :P I know it's silly, but I do.
In other news, I have changed my avatar again, for what will probably be the last time in a while. Now it's Mouse, from "Reboot". A female program (okay, okay, "sprite") who is at least part "bad" and has some red in her design. Close enough! (To the Mistress Control Program, I mean.)
I didn't know that anybody from the movie had stopped by here, by the way. Huh. News to me. Then again, I'm a newbie, so almost EVERYTHING about the site is still "news to me". :P

Hey - I've been here for nearly a year and I haven't seen anyone from the film turn up either. Or maybe I'm just really unobservant.
