I agree about the art. My problem with it, is that it's trying to go back to the original movie art, which was nice, but and even the world of Space Paranoids in Kingdom Hearts II was much more colorful, and imo better than the original movie, though I still love I just wonder why go back to the original art style? Mercury looks like so biazarre, why do that to a beautiful program like her?

Actually-- I thought it was not Mercury because she looked more human-like than a program in that picture, so I was guessing that it wasn't the TRUE Mercury, but someone pretending to be Mercury. (Wasn't this evident in Jet's thoughts?)

Even if the artwork is an issue, there are some spots of it that appears to be the case of: not all things are what they appear.

Actually, ya Kia now that you mention it everything just seems so messed up in the comic (plot wise). How did the MCP return to power? I mean c'mon, wouldn't they have known? Is the MCP actually a corrupted version of MA3A? And where IS MA3A?

And one question I'd like answered by the end of this series of comics: Where in god's good name is Flynn!?

If Issue 3 art looked like the movie, I would've thought it had the best art of all 3 issues. Trying to imitate Tron 2.0 or Kingdom Hearts wouldn't be my favorite route for it to take. No, there were other technicalities with the art in #3 that I didn't like as well as #1.

If a new Tron movie were made, I'd prefer it to look like the simple Tron universe of 1982 rather than some over Tronified world that only aims to please the younger crowds who get A.D.D. when trying to watch the original movie because it doesn't have the same pzazz CG has brings us today.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Flynn's probably on a privately owned desert island away from technology being served pinta cola by women.

...

I think it makes sense that MCP backed up a copy of himself somewhere out there. (Though, it would have taken a while to make a copy of a bloatware! :P)

According to Tron 2.0, MCP had the digitalizing programming and that was lost when he was derezzed... and they pretty much had to start over again with Ma3a. I think she ran off or something after getting Jet back in the system (assuming this is the User Jet and not User Jet Backup.)

I'll have to recheck the first comic book when I've got the chance.

Jet is all paranoid of technology? I thought he did a good job at kicking virus and ICP butt in the game. But that is just me. If I were Jet I would be like "Yeh.. let's get in there and fix some stuff, take names, and find Mercury!!"

But not Jet. And that somehow does not match the video game playing, care free, Flynn-like (Hmmm.. THAT has had me wondering) slacker we were introduced to in the game.

Issue one spelled out Jets aversion to technology a bit more than any of the recaps in issue 2 or 3. It wasn't a fear for himself, but instead the stress of the tremendous responsibility.

Look at it this way: If anyone comes to think of a programs as a living and feeling being, how can you return to programming? Deleting a file? Erasing a hard drive? And if a character goes through the experience Jet had without reaching a point where he exhibits concern and compassion for the beings in this universe, he makes for an uninteresting and callous character. He has gained nothing from his journey.

Jet mourned the "death" of Mercury in the game, and was confused by her return to "life". One thing I hated was his casual attitude to the entire world he had just left behind at the end of the game. His concern for Mercury summed up in wanting a copy for a screen saver? A terrible dismissal of someone supposedly important to him.

Yes, the characterization of Jet in the comic is incongruous with the characterization of Jet at the end of the game. But the ending of the game was incongruous with the characterization through the rest of the game.

And.. er.. MCP is back? That is kinda gay.

I think TRON 2.0 put it in perspective when I-No goes into bragging about his 16-bit output 128 megabtye storage system with full monocromatic display and dares someone find a more powerful system.

Yeh, so the MCP coming back would probably be a 1 meg routine that would be easily squished by today's anti-virus programs.

I want the MCP back. In full MCP glory Judging by your last quote there, lurkinghorror, I'd say it doesn't look to promising for the likes of me Oh well, can't win 'em all! Good luck with issue #4!

Let's not jump to conclusions. I simply pointed out that Jet is wondering the same thing members of the forum are. What that means for the MCP is up in the air.

The story will be twisty and turny. I don't know if it will be good, and I know some people here will hate it when all is said and done. But hopefully a few people will like it as well.

Whaaa? Is it coming up again? Oh, look.. .it is!

Bummer. It's 3/31 thru 4/1. Unfortunately, I will likely be on a business trip to either North Carolina or Oklahoma at that time, or a little of both. *sigh* If those plans change, I'll probably be going to the comicon.

PS: I wasn't jumping to too many MCP conclusions I know the story can twist around, so don't give us too many hints

Don't worry, no real danger of hints here. After all, you might have been dead right the first time. Or dead wrong.

That's too bad about the schedule. I had fun visiting with you last year. I'll probably be back in 2008 though.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I'm bummed about missing this one. I know I can get it online, but I am having trouble paying more for shipping than for the actual comic itself

Hopefully the local comic store will get some more in at some point.

The local comic store will special order it for me... so I have a couple on the way. I also picked 2 #2 issues out of the dollar bin, so if anyone needs one of those, let me know.

Ouch. They probably couldn't sell their copies of issue 2 and so they didn't order issue 3. We'll get alot of that. Issue 3 is much more appealing to the average comics reader, I think. But with issue 2 being so late and the art being fairly non-standard style for the comics industry, it's an uphill battle.

At least it wasn't a quarter bin.

Actually, he said they were "sold out", which I took to mean they had some at one time, but sold them all.

Hello.

I signed up just to make this post and add my two cents.

.. I don't know where to start now..

Hrm. Well, I was born the year before Tron's release, so if I saw the film when it was released I certainly didn't understand it. Fortunately I also watched when I was older.

I periodically remembered the film from time to time after that, possibly even watched it again if I could get a hold of it. However it had completely faded from my memory until recently.

I picked up the first issue of the comic while browsing for comics to read, and discussed it with the seller, and we were all intriqued by it as we are all geeks naturally. Naturaly this prompted nostalgic feelings and memories of Tron etc.

Anyway I wasn't even aware a video game was released until recently, despite the nod to it on the cover of the comic, though this is possibly because I didn't actually read the comic as I realised I needed to recap because I couldn't remember much of the details of the film. I was unable to get a copy of the film after that, and I kind of forgot all about it (hectic life), the fact another issue didn't appear for a long time didn't help.

So, while browsing the news archives of Penny Arcade (an online webcomic) I came across their thoughts on the Tron 2.0 game, which kicked my memory banks into working order again.

I came across this site while looking for details about the game, but didn't actually spend time here until I'd read the comics after I went out and bought the second and third issues as the third was out by then (I'd left it a long time). I also grabbed a dvd of the film to watch.

I came to this thread after reading the website address advertised in the 3rd issue, and I read all the posts so far.

I just wanted to point out that most people outside of the people reading this thread and the small (compared to the rest of the world) number of people who love the Tron franchise don't care about Tron.

I liked the film, but that's because I'm a geek and I appreciated it's nod to the geek culture.

However, the rest of the world doesn't remember the film, to them it was a mediocre film that wasn't that great. For the time it might have been ahead in terms of CGI and such, but that doesn't matter if they weren't really interested in the story and the message the film was offering.

I agree that this could have been marketed much better (as could the game.. for crying out loud I didn't even know it existed until recently).

I think the reason it wasn't promoted much is because of what I said above. There probably just wasn't really any worth in advertising/promoting the comic in the eyes of the execs. They probably counted on the fans to promote it themselves, as has been happening.

Now, as to the comic, I'm interested in where the story is going, and I think so far it's been good work. I'm feeling a little left out because I don't have the time to play the videogame now, and I haven't really spent a lot of time looking for a detail by detail recount of it's story on the net (the time I did spend looking was frustrating though) and as a consequence I feel I'm missing a part of the story. Though the recap at the beginning of issue #1 was good as recaps go, I really like to know the full details of stories I miss etc.
I'm getting sidetracked though. From what I've read so far, despite my almost obsessive compulsive desire to know what happened in the game, I've enjoyed the story and I'm real interested in where it's going.

To share a theory, like TronFAQ, I am starting to think we have been following the other Jet. I am thinking all his 'real world' memories are implants, or memories carried over from the copied version.

The Rabbit saying he isn't real either is what makes me think this.

The situation with Alan though.. that'll be interesting to discover the truth about, any theories I come up with to do with his apparent or real shooting get shot down by my own logic and lack of kn

Glad you did, Mortanius. I think you'll find alot of people here who feel similarly about the game and the lack of marketing. As for not having completed it before reading the comic, it shouldn't be too necessary. Hopefully, we managed to squeeze in all relevant information in the previously section. In a perfect world, we would have don a comic prequel to the movie, a movie adaptation, a game adaptation, then this book. We have three different endings at the moment, and are debating which one to use. If we had the benefit of retelling this story from the ground up, unifying the myriad storylines, then I think our decision would be easier.

The recap you guys did was good, it told me all I needed to know, the basic plot points the game revolved around. That's all people need really.

The problem is entirely mine, I hate missing things (episodes, comic books etc) out of anything I like, and often drop/stop watching something if I miss something until I am able to experiance what I missed out. The advent of digital television where you can record shows and such is truly a Godsend to me.
I suppose it's a compliment to the Tron franchise that I like it enough to have that sense of missing out, even though I know what I need to know in order to read and enjoy the comics. I don't plan on playing the game unless it falls into my lap, I'm satisfied with the recap. I might see if I can find a transcript of all the dialogue/script at some future point though.

You have three different endings? You'll have to let me - and all the other people reading this what the other endings were once the last issue has been out awhile. Also, go into the reasons you picked the ending you did once you do please.

I'm a big fan of behind the scences information and such as you might guess The extra stuff on a dvd title usually influences my decision to buy greatly.

I think it would be great if you were able to retell the enitre story line in comic form, not only would you be able to produce a smooth continuity but it would also most likely make more sense and read smoother due the the style/approach to the the story being the same. You have done a good enough job so far that I'd be confident it would be a good take on the story. And if it wasn't, you wouldn't have exactly destroyed each copy of the movie (and game) that exists, and replaced them with your own versions now would you..

Anyway,

Take care, and keep up the good work. I'll look for issue 4 when it comes out. There is no need to rush it either, release it when it's ready, it will be read, and likely appreciated more for not being rushed.

Yeah. But don't forget he was written on a mainframe computer which is a completely different computer entirely compared to the standard home computer that you or I have at home. If the MCP is still around On which system has he been backed up too? Another similar system that was was like the exact some system that he was written on all those years ago. Technology has changed a long way even for the home computer, Minicomputer, mainframe, Supercomputers. He would not have worked well on a standard home based computer. (Geek talk here. Been working too long in computers as a tech and a not fairly newb as a programmer.)
