Neat Tron reference! Funny thing is.. back then video game addiction was just a joke. These days it's actually real with people ruining their lives playing online games.

YES, I saw this when I was a kid, it was on Saturday Night Live... So damn funny. I love the pac-man game over music at the end.

I remember seeing that when I was about 12 or 13!
Man that makes me feel old.
But how freakin' awesome!
Funny thing - it still holds up today, only substitute the arcade for today's latest generate gaming consoles, and substitute quarters for $600.00!

Yep, they're still around if you live in a big city or next to a large mall. While I loved arcades growing up, I probably miss playing games at the local corner store more then the arcades themselves.
Check out this picture of me breaking it down on a Tron machine this past summer:

Last Tron machine I saw was in a Phoenix area GameWorks, and it was broken.
Most "old school" games are now combined on multi-purpose machines. Meaning they have 20 games in 1, instead of a line of games. *Sigh*

When I lived in Mount Vernon, IL (of all places!) the mall there had not one, but two arcades. One was a Namco one, with mostly ticket-redemption games (SKI BALL!!!!!) and a few game machines. The other one, called Raven's Hollow, had a LOT of old school games, and half of it was a comic shop. They didn't have Tron, but they had a titles like Popeye, Willow, Bubble Bobble, one of the early NBA Jams, MK, Street Fighter, and several others. They were from the owner's personal collection.
About the video...LOL...I remember when that was first shown...GAWD I am old ________________________

In my small town, we had dozens of small arcades, but there was something special about playing the games at the local Huck's of 7/11.
Back then, there were two great flavors of gaming... Video Games and Pinball. The only Skeet Ball I ever seen was at "Showbiz Pizza" (which later became 'Chucky Cheeze').
The closest mall to us at the time was in a town not far from here called Carbondale. It rocked back then because they had the biggest arcade in the area until it was flanked buy one at our local plazas.
Another great place was Pizza restaurants. They would have two or three but they were the classics. First time I saw a Pengo, Zaxxon, and Astroids Delux was at a Pasqulliaz Pizza (miss spelled of course, but it was the best pizza I had ever ate).
I miss the 80's.
First time I saw a 'Crazy Climber' was at our Chamber of Commerce... go fig... lol..where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online |

Fave quotes:
"Do you like to play video games?"
"Timmy is 11 years old."
"He was hit by a garbage truck... on his way to the video arcade."
LOL. That rocked.
