There is a way to still play C64 games, but this is done through downloading the game files that you used to own (having backup copies of your games is still legal, I think?)

Basically, you hook up C64 to your pc through some sort of port and have the C64 read from a directory in the PC.

Can't remember how it was done but I saw a clip of it being done on a tv show on Tech Tv or G4...

AHA! I found the original program segment that can help!

Kia you are onto something here. I remember doing something similar Basically the older PC that is being used is acting like a exernal hard drive for it. Just reading the first part reminded me of something that other have been doing with atari 520st and all that. And it is a good idea for the C64.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Rock on, Kia! You are a C64 master-ette! I appreciate the help. I'm not sure if I'm ready to dive into linking my PC to my C64, but it's nice to know that is an option if I can't figure anything else out. I'm going to go try again, and use different disks. Maybe my C64 was just having a bad day. I swear I had 2 Commodore 64s lying around in my garage; with 2 disk drives. I wonder where the other one could be... hmm... maybe the other disk drive still functions!

I am completely operational and all my circuits are functioning perfectly. -Hal

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^
