Risk-like TRON game

on Friday, September, 08, 2006 1:32 PM
Greetings, Programs! I am interested in making a risk-like computer game, but based on Tron and it would take place inside the ENCOM computer system. I was wondering if anyone could give me any help on this. For one, I need a map graphic. I was thinking of grabbing the one out of the movie that you see in Sark's control center (the one with flashing stuff and pac-man on it), but I need some help naming stuff. Instead of continents, I would have domains, and sectors would replace territories. So far I can only think of 2 domains (Central Computer and the Game Domain) since only 2 are really mentioned in the movie. The only sector in the Central computer is occcupied by the MCP and the Game Grid could have several sectors in it, but I can't really think of anything else since not much else is mentioned in the movie. Anyone have any ideas??

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Ianthetechie... Compucore... Ianthetechie... Compucore... Compucore... Ianthetechie...

It's the attack of the confusingly similar avatars!

This game sounds pretty cool! Will the game by 1 player vs. AI, or multiplayer split-screen, or playable over LAN/Internet?

And as for finding images, names or anything else to do with TRON, just do what we all do.

Ask DaveTRON!

Anyway, good luck with making the game!

To start off, I will make the game multiplayer only. It will start simple, with anywhere from 1-6 players competing against each other for control of the map just like risk. Initially it would probably be best played at Tron parties and the like. Next, I plan on adding AI, and eventually I would like to add network/internet multiplayer once my programming skills improve a little. I expect that I will have a beta version of some sort in a couple months or so. The main thing that needs doing is the map right now.

Thanks for the tip!

I was talking to another tron fan today and he gave me an interesting idea... make the combat dice-based like risk, but instead, have the dice be binary Let me know what you think.

Well, that kind of limits your dice rolls to "0" and "1".

yes, i understand that, but then we could have more dice instead. we could have, say 4 dice. And perhaps something special happens if the attacker gets all 1's... just a possibility.

That's cool. Or you could represent the die's roll in binary numbers instead of dots. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

That would work as well... thx for the ideas

The main thing that needs work now is a map. I have a primitive HUD and other interface working, and game logic is easy to do. I racked my brain and I came up with a list of possible sectors, but I have no idea how to put it all in map form. The best idea I have now is a printed circuit board or something. Another problem is that most of these are in the Game Domain, and I had hoped to have several domains which would be analagous to continents in risk. Here is a tentative list of sectors that I thought of.

Entry Port
Prison Block
Frisbee Arena
Rings game (need a better name for this)
Lightcycle Grod
Tank Bay
Recognizer Hangar
City (again, I need a better name)
Solar Sailer Simulation bay
MCP

I also thought of having an I/O Tower and making that a link between the "Real World" and the ENCOM 511 Computer. I think that would make the game very interesting, Then we could add Flynn's Arcade and other places to make a bigger map.

hey heres a few places in the digital world:

recycle bin (a run down place complete with digital crackheads lol)
internet port (like a port for data instead of boats)
anti-virus compound (like a army base but for a anit-virus software)
my favourites (the bookmarks programs being foreign)
and why not change 'city' to hard disk C?

hope this helps!
in fact to let my imagination lose i might make a tron 'expanded universe' web page. hmm... abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

My humble little internet slice. Visit, read, comment, and laugh (with, not at I hope...)
