and I'll have seen all of the David Lynch movies! ^_^
I just watched "The Elephant Man" last night. That movie was so friggen depressing. It made me hate people(More than I already do...lol). But, I was glad of the sort-of bittersweet ending. (I was going to hurt someone very badly if he hadn't been saved by those circus freaks. I really would've.)
That was the first time I've cried in a movie in a while...and I really cried a lot. (I was bawling almost all the way through...'cept for the beginning, where I was all "WTF? Oh, right, David Lynch made this.")
I love David Lynch...he's so cool.
Best movies ever.
Wonder what would happen if he had directed ...lol ==

Yeah, that is one depressing film. It also shows an aful and very true darker side that exists in all too many people. I remember watching that on TV back in the mid 80's - long before most people knew who Anthony Hopkins was. I was mad that they made it in black & white (I hated black and white when I was younger). I saw the film again just a few years back. Sad & depressing, but interesting.
Well, if you enjoy watching a film with a big lump in your throat and hinging the emotion of great depression, sorrow, anger, and so on - check out Schindler's List some time. I only saw that once. I only needed to see it once. I will never watch it again. The film was done very well, but its subject matter is very disturbing. A very haunting film, made so much more haunting and depressing as it is based on the reality of the holocaust. Oh yeah - this one will leave your eyes salty with tears and a lump the size of a pineapple in your throat.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Wow, I probably watched The Elephant Man at around the same time you did Todd. On PBS 13, correct?
Man that was a depressing movie. It was very well done, though.
You have to love those old 'one room' movies, like The Elephant Man and Twelve Angry Men because they're almost one-set plays on film. They rely exclusively on a great script, griping dialogue, and outstanding performances.
Along those lines, I posit that the The Elephant Man was filmed in black & white because it didn't need color. Color wouldn't have added anything to the story, or dialogue, or performances so therefore it was unnecessary. That's just a guess, of course, but I feel it's plausible.
"We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. Adams "C is for cookie. That's good enough for me." - Cookie Monster "If money is the root of all evil, I'd like to be a bad, bad man." - Huey Lewis & the News

I actualy watched the little thing about how they made it, and they said that if it was filmed in color, even less people would've watched it. And, it would've been much much harder to sell it to people.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

It's been a really long time since I've seen The Elephant Man, so I barely remember the details. All I do remember, is that it's a very depressing movie.
But I wanted to comment on the use of B&W. In this film, B&W was definitely used to add to the overall depressing atmosphere. Used properly, B&W can actually add to a film rather than detract from it. (As much as I'm sure we all prefer color.)
One film I'm thinking of in particular, is Solaris. (The original 1973 film, not the 2002 remake.) The director, Andrei Tarkovsky, kept switching back and forth between B&W and color. In fact, Tarkovsky said he wasn't a big fan of color and wasn't eager to use it. (This was still back when color was just starting to become popular and affordable in filmmaking.)
Anyway, the use of B&W in Solaris is really interesting. He used it to completely change the mood of a scene. At first I didn't "get it", and found the constant switching back and forth a bit odd. But upon watching it again, I started to understand what he was trying to do. He really was a great filmmaker. His style was so unique, that I don't think anyone has even come close to duplicating it. Tarkovsky really turned filmmaking into an art form.
Hmm . . . you know, I should try and watch The Elephant Man again. I don't remember it very well any more. So even though I know it's depressing to watch, I kinda want to see it again.
