p.s.
For the shading which kind of approach you use? gradient lightning-oriented? and for the outline? finally, which program you use?

Bye!

Thank you! I use a program called Realsoft3D (http://realsoft.fi). It has been around a long time and is a true raytracer, however, it has many settings and can render in many ways.

For the lighting I used a single light point (main light) set to infinity with parallel rays, in addition to a special light made from a rectangle which produces the low-quality noise. The outline is a feature of the software and I do have some control over the thickness, so I'll drop it down and see how it looks.

I do have plenty of information about lightcycle construction, in addition to what wwwmwww, queball, and others have provided. You should check out this thread that wwwmwww and I (and a few others here and there) are currently talking in:

I can probably do that (outline just the black and white parts), I'll work on it tonight and see what I can come up with. I'd like to see your outline render too!

You're right wwwmwww the colored part in facts isn't outlined, but I there's some frame rendering were the black/gray part are outlined and the shell (the side windows) too but sometimes not!. which are your opinion about the right version (if, at this point there's a right one?order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

wwwmwww Wrote:However stuff like the grain seen in the film I'm not 100% sure really would have been there in the initial renders. Could that have been added in the process of transfering these CGI images to film? The way this stuff is done today is alot different then it was 20+ years ago.

Carl

Yeah you're right again, I use the grain and a some warm tone to simulate the aging and the look of the film (it's a fashion taste), but I don't know if in the production pipeline they saw the final render directly on film or on a crt. It's an interesting thing to investigate.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

In my book its all opinion and I hesitate to call things "right" and "wrong" in this case. I personally believe the way the outlining effect was added to the models was via a 2D process added to the final rendered image via a technique very similiar to what is talked about here:

http://www.wwwmwww.com/TRON/NehGat00.pdf
It looks like the software you and Matthew are using has something like this built into it. The official release of POV-Ray doesn't so I'll have to build my outline line-by-line. Anyways with the 2D technique the line width doesn't vary with distance from the camera. That's why the recognizers are nearly all red in the distance but up close the red outline looks very thin. On the light cycle I think the outline effect is varied from some shots to others. In many shots its so thin its very hard to see and as its white its even harder to see on the lighted side of the light cycle. Its usually much easier to see in shadow. There may even be a few sequences where its turned off all together, its really hard to say. I personally like the outline effect and I believe it adds something. Its just if I add it my primitive count will shoot up into the hundreds as I'll have to build the outline just as I had to build the light cycle itself. This would slow down animation attemps but I still want to try it. I have the added advantage that after I do build it I'll be able to do some thing with it that you can't since your outline isn't physically modeled. Stuff like this for example:

Keep up the great work...

No if I wasn't so slow myself...

mmm, the technique described in this white paper it seems to be a edge samples analysis for raytracing, mean is a in-process stage for reflection/refraction etc, but the examples that explain the boolean function seams to be our matter.

I don't know real3d but in 3dsmax there's several techniques to achieve this effect.

It sound a long and boring task. But the return is very good.

p.s. I don't know if is useful (or you already know it) but i've found a link about post-processing outline in povray.

In fact when I've tried to search on the movie the right or almost a common look of the LC, I've realize that is a lots of variation.

I haven't been able to read through all of this thread because I'm back on the Sector after a long period of computer-brokeniness, and I'm checking through loads and loads of posts. But the renders are totally amazing - very very true to the movie. Phenomenal stuff, gighindro!

thanks Carl, but most dipends by your very comprehensive works around LC, It's not strictly related to your work because I'm looking first for movie atmosphere, but it's very exciting read the threads concern the LC geometry elements. Also using the povray csg modeling, I think your very close to the Tron artists experience, great, and great patience too.

Cool, I didn't know anyone ever replied to this thread after I did. I'll have to come back to this one later. I have to go play a game of Age of Empires 3. For now, I'm putting this reminder in the thread for me to remember abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion
