Totally 80s music. Huey Lewis & The News reminds me of Back To The Future

I may be a fool to admit this, but I like the old Miami Vice soundtrack I wish I could find it on CD. I just looked the other day and all they had was 'the best of Miami Vice soundtrack', which didn't have the same songs as the old original soundtrack my brother had on cassette tape. I want the old one, dangit! :P

Anyone else interested in seeing the Miami Vice movie when it comes out?

80's era Prince, The Call, Wang Chung, The Plimsouls, Devo, Missing Persons, The Tubes, The Clocks, Cheap Trick, Utopia, Men At Work, INXS, Bangles, Cyndi Lauper, and even my personal all time faves The Who. There was some great music in the 80's. So much more than I could ever list here, these were just some of my faves.

Although I was never a huge Police fan, I couldn't agree more on the others. I suppose if I could only pick one 80's band as my favorite I would choose The Cure, however Depeche Mode and The Smiths are close seconds. Although at the time I enjoyed top 20 80's pop, these days I can't stomach most of it.

People that enjoy Huey Lewis & The News need to have their heads checked :PPPPP. Kidding... mostly .

Heads checked? I beg to differ!

I frikin' love the music of Huey Lewis & The News; they're an awesome band. I even have the Back to the Future soundtrack for Power of Love and Back in Time.

The Best of Blondie is a good intro CD, but if you want some really cool stuff try Blonde and Beyond and the two-disc The Platinum Collection.

I had totally forgotten about that Video Romeo song. And the A-Ha 'Take On Me' video is one of my all-time favorites.

Linked from the Video Romeo video page, there are CBS Saturday Morning Bumpers. I had forgotten about these, too. Some of them look Lisberger-ish to me. Reminiscent of his Lisberger logo animation and the rock station animation (pre-TRON). I wonder if he played a role creating any of them?

I didn't get into Depeche Mode all that much until Violator which was 1990, so technically not the 80's I still consider Violator one of the best albums produced; meaning every song on it was solid and well crafted.

As for the Smiths... I love the music, but cannot stand Morrisey's voice... so therefore have not really ever gotten into the band.

Hrm. I like their music. Catchy, fun, rock tunes with some soul mixed in.

My communicator plays Ghostbusters when it rings.

You can't get more 80's than that!

Of course, Ghostbusters is kind of timeless as it is still loved by so many toady.

I also have several other 80's tunes in my phone from Come-On Eileen to Who Could it be Knocking at My Door

I know you'll like this TheReelTodd... but Ghostbusters is another movie I would like to see updated either with a remake or a sequel (preferable a remake of Ghostbusters I ) Add Poltergeist to the list, too

Yeah, I know their music was pretty catchy to most. For whatever reason though I just couldn't get in to it. When I think of catchy 80's stuff I always think of the Outfield. I wore out my copy of Play Deep that's for sure .

Remember how Ray Parker Jr. got sued (and lost) for copying I Want A New Drug from Huey Lewis and The News to make the Ghostbusters theme song?

Sadly, they probably will remake Ghostbusters at some point I would imagine. I can't see how it would work though. I mean the original was done SOOOOOO right. It's a classic. It's even considered to be the greatest sci-fi comedy ever by many of my generation (including myself).

How can other actors bring to life the characters in this film better than the originals? How can all the special effects in the world make it any better?

I just don't see it working or even coming close to the original.

Then again, when the make a Ghostbusters remake, it will be targeted at the 18 to 25 crowd, I'm sure. That's usually the age of folks who are like "who are those OLD guys in the old Ghostbusters?"

Everything that was successful will get remade at some point. That is a given.

I'm guessing that Ghostbusters will get remade in the next 5 to 10 years. Usually a film needs 25 to 30 years before a remake is attempted. Ghostbusters is 22 years old.... AHHHHHHHH! I just had an I'm an OLD guy moment. Hate that!

Yep I do!

They settled out of court for "an undisclosed amount".

I liked the song "I Want a New Drug", but I liked "Ghostbusters" a whole lot more for some reason. Maybe because it had to do with ghosts or maybe because it was just more fun, lyrically. Same tune in many respects, but I liked Ghostbusters more.

Gee - now I wonder if my communicator plays Ghostbusters or I Want a New Drug when it rings?
