Looking good Lurking horror. I think that image fits the tron theme perfectly for the comic book to a T. Now I really want to get the first editon right now so badly over here. I might have to shack that guy at the comic books store that much more.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Wow, it's all... thingilly... and stuff!
The Louis de Martinis guy sure has captured the TRON world from what I've seen. And this guy is drawing it all by hand?
I'm really looking forward to getting the first one... and I will get it eventually! You can't stop me! *Strange laugh*

My understanding is that it is all penciled by hand. As for the rest, only Louis can say. I'm really impressed with his eye for design. Almost every aspect of the design is from Louis. He receives very little instruction from the rest of us on the book. This ship came right out of his head, as far as I am aware.
@Carl
Sorry. No name at the moment.
@Cueball
I believe that is the only image of the vehicle in existence. Maybe Louis will be kind enough to render some other views when he's not swamped with deadlines.

Lan,
Email forthcoming this evening. Keep an eye out.

PS: As for this vehicle....hmmm. Interesting. Part of me loves it a lot, and a part of me doesn't want to see it in the TRON world....but then, I am a bit biased! DaveTRON

Well... Keep in mind that even in the game, the ICP's were not limited to red. Doesn't the thing kinda look like a recognizer on it's side? Just a bit?
The book is out in every comic store that saw fit to order it. I know that some stores in the UK are carrying it, but I could not tell you which.

How about something kinda speedy like uh... hm... something speedy....and.... cool.....
- RecSpeeders (They remind me of Speeders from Star Wars)
- LRUs = Light Recognizer Units
- LUs = Light Units
- TRUs = Tactical Recogniser Units
- Game Planes? (Okay.... dorky)
- LTUs = Light Tactial Units
- Chasers (Because they look like they can chase stuff quite well. Think... Recognizers aren't meant for chasing stuff and don't seem to have the same aerodynamic features that this unit has. Besides, it seems to be a great fit. Recognizers and Chasers. Hmm... I like this because it has a nice ring to it.)
- MRUs = Manuverable Recognizer Units
- MTCUs = Manuverable Tactical Chaser Units
- TCUs = Tactical Chaser Units
- TCVs = Tactical Chaser Vehicals
- MCVs = Manuverable Chaser Units
- F18 TCVs = F18 Tactical Chaser Units
Okay... not feeling 100% speedy right now. Maybe it's time I drove by the airport close to my house to get some better ideas. ^^; But when I see this, fighter jets come to mind. I wouldn't picture them being very stealthy (Trust me, years of living near an airport where F18s like to land you'll know how noisy these can be until they reach their mach speeds!) But speedy definately. So they need a fast name to fit it. Or something really cool and fast.
Anyways... that's my two bits for now.

Perhaps it's an "alien" vessel, and that's why it doesn't seem to fit? They are the enemy in the war? Who knows :P
I love it though, they look very much like Tie Fighters

It resembles the trade fighters in Ep 1 and 2. I had a very Star Wars reaction to it when I first saw it. It also looks like the new Cylon fighters from BSG MkII. After thinking about it...computer world....video games....they'd have to have vehicles like this for working in the games right? DaveTRON

Like I said before, stand it up on one end and you have something that looks not unlike a recognizer.
I had nothing to do with the design of this (the script simply said something like: "Strange, jet-like vehicle") so I think I can discuss it with a slight bit of objectivity (Though certainly not 100%). To me, it really doesn't look any different than the technology of the tank or the light cycle. Similar lines, as it were. And if you take the super cycle into consideration (which, while I know some people reacted poorly to it and others loved it) it seems to me to fit right in, style wise.
Of course, there is an old rule. The creator is not sitting at the shoulder of every reader, waiting to explain to them why something in the story works. Therefore, the defense of any one item can only be given so much weight. First reaction and instinct is invaluable. Despite this, I submit the notion that any new technology or designs unfamiliar to the universe will look wrong automatically.
Or maybe I simply love to argue.
