I got this from my brother a couple of years back - it's the TRON soundtrack on LP. I've listened to it about 3 times only - no big scratches, though I did notice a few pops.
It's in a clear plastic cover, though the edges of the cover show wear and tear. It's stamped on the back "FOR PROMOTION ONLY - Ownership Reserved By CBS - Sale Is Unlawful"
It also includes a 10 page or so B/W doc that looks like a press release yb CBS for the album.

Well, I just bought one of those off eBay (UK) for about £15 (it was the only TRON soundtrack on there, so I was willing to pay), so you might be able to make a bit from it.
Although for all I know eBay USA might be flooded with TRON soundtrack LPs, so I don't know.

The regular release, non Promo, soundtrack is very common. There are generally one or two up on eBay at all times. Sealed ones can even be found on eBay every couple of months. While the regular soundtrack is super common on eBay, I would say that maybe only 1 in 10 are marked with the 'promo' stamp. Even though that's a small percentage I would still say that the promo album is a common item. I've only seen one sealed example of the promo album though and it recently sold for close to $40.
As a side note, I must say that I learned something new about the promo album from this thread. I didn't realize that the promo came with some marketing material as well (the info on the Tron letterhead). I have two opened copies of the promo album and I'll have to check mine to see if they have any additional paperwork.
I think I paid around $10 shipped for my extra promo album so if you want if for $10 + shipping Martin just let me know . I don't know if I have the addtional paperwork though...

I have a promo copy too (sans press release) so I don't think it's all that uncommon.
It wasn't THAT long ago that a LP copy of the Tron soundtrack could score you some decent cash on eBay, but with the release of the CD and the advent of mp3's/file sharing, its not going to fetch very much at all.

While we are on the topic of Tron soundtracks, I figured why not share this link now that the auction has ended.
Ultra scarce Italian soundtrack with the Italian 33record as well!
I saw this when it was initially listed but it was a bit more than I could afford at the moment. I was hoping to watch it close with no bids so the seller would relist at a lower price, but I'm glad to see it's gone to a good home .
Martin do you have the Mexican LP soundtrack as well? Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, how many different 12" LP's exist with this album cover?
With certainty I know the following soundtrack versions exist with this particular cover:
The Standard US Version (which can be found with the promo stamp)
The Mexican Version
The Japanese Version
The Italian Version
Any others?

You can add the Australian version to the list :^).

I've got the standard release with the free Bally token inside and the japanese release plus the japanese Journey singles that came from the soundtrack. I've also got 4 versions of it on cassette.
As for the Story of TRON, the versions I've got are:
UK/US
French
Italian
Plus 2 versions of it on a German cassette. I'm still after it on a german record. Never heard of or seen a mexican version. Would like to have one though.

Thanks for the info :^)! I've never seen a German record either and would love to have one.
The Mexican version I saw was earlier this year, or late last year, and was still sealed. It had a small round circle on the cover, likely a sticker on the cellophane, that was in Spanish. It's quite possible that the record was simply the US release with a sticker on the front. Unfortunately I forgot to bid on it and then lost the auction # a little while later. It closed for just under $10 . ~sigh~

Well... time to resurrect this thread...
I'm finally getting off my butt and cleaning my place (i.e. ebay'ing a bunch of stuff) and I'd love to get rid of the tron album as well since I don't have an LP player anymore.
Anyone still interested in this:
If so, just email me @ rcaslis@xkill.net. Thanks.
