Interesting.
Not sure I like the future bike. Looks more like future bus to me. Too big. I like where he's going though.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Those are some nice TRON recreations!
Man - why are these people not joining us here at TRON-Sector?
His light cycles are the first I've seen (since the film) to actually incorporate the lighter edges noticeable in the shadowed areas.

I think the future bike looks FANTASTIC.
GIGANTIC compared to the program, but Fantastic.
Boy the Advanced Armagetron looks Arse-kickin'!!!
...the shadowed light-cycles look like cel-shaded jet grind radio , but really well adapted/used for TRON!!
If this will be a game, I can't wait!! (will the carrier fly by??)

I must agree that does look nice. Having done the outlining on the tank I could now do this to my light cycles but it would slow the render times down by a factor of 100 or more.
I wonder if we can get this guy here. I'd love to know what software he's using. Some of those pics make me think he's using a true csg and others make me think he's using a mesh. I must also say his model looks very accurate and considering how much time I've spent looking at light cycles that is something. I see just a few errors but I also see places where it may be more movie accurate then mine, even aside from the outlining.
Very impresive work...

Hi all
I hav'nt been on this forum for some time, but thanks to Carl Hoff I checked this topic and would like to say thanks for all the comments. I have lots of TRON related stuff and I have just updated my site, anyone interested can now download lo poly game models of the lightcycle, recognizer, game tank and sarks carrier.
Also I have a half written game based on the 'clu' scenes of TRON, but I am a prtty poor programmer, If anyone is interested in joining in or taking it over just let me know.
Thanks again

Cool and thanks. I've downloaded them. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use them in POV-Ray but they are too good to pass up. May I ask what software you used to make them?

I love your light cycle models! I still think yours are the most accurate (dimensionally) to the films and I love the fact that you used primitives to make them (much like they did for the film)!
It would ne neat if you could figure out some trick to get those subtle highlight lines in there, but your models rock! Perhaps you'll figure out a trick sometime. I'd say look for some way to expose where objects intersect with each other... of course, I'm sure you've probably already looked in to that.

It looks like he's been a member for some time! He's just a really quiet one. Perhaps he'll stick around and share some more of his TRON work?

Well, welcome back to The Sector, ed keefe!
Yes - you do some very nice work. Funny how Sketch found your work and never even realized that you were already a member here, though you haven't been around in some time.
You really should pop in here more frequently. This site is not just about TRON, but also about all the other common interests all of us TRON lovers have in common. One very strong theme here is everyone seems to have very gifted creative talents.

Kinda hard to tell who all is members here when all we have is the Who's Online section. Would be nice to have a list that allows you to search through and for a specific member.

There is!
It's part of those handy-dandy administration tools we've got. I can't remember how to get there off-hand, but I know I've been able to browse through the list of user names before. There are some pretty funny ones in there too.

Back for more. I just thought I would say that the models on my site are .3ds and .max format. The models were made in 3d studio max 6. But if any of you would like other formats .x etc just ask.
And any suggestions etc on improving them is also welcome. 'thereeltodd' if you can help with any mapping tips that would be great. I have also posted a movie pack for armagetron advanced incase you hav'nt seen it:

Also updated my site with some animations and images:

The area where I think Edd might be more movie accurate is here:
In this area I've used an additional cylinder and sphere to smooth this area out. MAGI did this too at times as best seen here:
But note this ISN'T the light cycle seen in the movie. There are certainly some sharp edges seen in this area in the film.
Here is an excellent example:

Oh... I know how to do it and I may even add it to my growing list of things to do. Its just that the way I'll have to do it will really slow the render times down to the point where I couldn't use it in animations. I think I could use it to make some pretty pictures though.
One question which I'll need to look into more myself. Shouldn't just the gray part (lower part of the bike) and the black windows have the outlines? I don't recall seeing the outline effect on any of the colored or main body part of the bike in the film. Am I wrong? Is it time for me to go though the movie frame by frame again?

These are all very minor things but these are the points that jumped out at me.
1) The areas circled in red look to be part of the top arch that extends inside the fender.
2) There is a line that extends forward from the side detail cone on the fender. I don't think this line should be here.
3) The upper body of the bike should be one color. It looks like you have 2 different shades being used.
4) The green curved line is the ONLY curved line on the bike that gives me a clue this might be a mesh. The other curved lines all look great!!! To be honest I don't know how you are getting such smooth curves with a low poly model. What's your secret?
5) Its easy to tell the trail effect is a mesh as I see the edges where I've drawn the blue line.
6) I believe the rear tire is a sphereoid. The profile of the yellow bike's rear tire looks too pointy to me.
7) The cylinder I've circled in purple I think is sticking out just a little too far. Then again maybe I'm being too picky. If I'm coming across that way sorry as I think you really do have a great model there.
8 ) The redish/pink curve I've drawn is another area where I think the shape is off just a bit. This area of the side detail (the foot) is made where a couple cylinders come down to meet a sphere (the toe area). The curve should look more like the arch of a circle. Your curve looks like it is much more flat.
I hope this is helpful,
Carl
P.S. Is there a way to type 8 followed by a ) without it turning into a 8)?
