He he he.
I wouldn't worry about it, Nikster.
You see, before I can pass you, Boingo_Buzzard will probably pass me... AND you!
He's been climbing up the top posters ladder very efficiently. He just bumped KiaPurity down, thus putting an end to The Reel Sandwich. Ahhh, it was fun while it lasted!

How about...
Ahh yes, why not post about why those silver balls that dangled from string and used to smack back and forth and back and forth when you pulled one silver ball back were so popular back in the 70's?
You know what I'm talking about, right? Jeez, I used to have a mini version of those things years ago. They wouldn’t stay in motion as long as the full-sized one, but they were still fun.
What was it about those things? Why was it so fun to pull the silver ball back and watch them go back and forth? If you were really good at it, you could pull back silver balls on BOTH sides at once, and then they'd kind of smack back toward the middle balls at the same time. That was always fun to try! There were several ways you could do it. They started out as a science thing, I believe - to show the an object in motion tends to stay in motion and an object at rest tends to stay at rest, unless put in to motion by another object or something like that rule. What was the name of that? It has something to do with inertia, right? Hmmm. That's the attraction between two large bodies I think. I get them mixed up these days.
Well, whatever.
So, what do you think about those old silver ball things? Did you used to enjoy playing with them?

That law is called the law of kinetic energy, or the law of motion. It has to do with the energy of an object being transfered to another object. Colliding is one way of showing kinetic energy. Playing baseball is an example of this. But kinetic energy is really general. It just has to do with something moving. The other law is the law of station. That law has to do with something not moving.
P.S. Why do I bother? I'm 12...

Klackers! I used to have a boxed set called that anyway. They had nifty acrylic versions that had sparkles and little balls of color in them and once, some exploded and the stuff got in a kid's eyes, so they stopped making them as I recall. Something like that anyway.

Thanks!
Yeah, I was about 12 when I knew those things too. Now I have only vague memories of what they're called, but I still remember the different properties of the laws of physics and stuff.
One of my favorite science words of 8th grade is penumbra. I always thought that was cool.
Almost as cool as meniscus. There's a fun word! And I remember what both mean - one is the earth's shadow and the other is the way water kind of clings to the sides of things and isn't level at the point at where it touches the sides... or that's the best I can explain it. We all see the meniscuses in our drinking glasses, right?

Damn - I want to look them up, but I don't know what they're called.
There were like 5 silver balls, dangling from a double-top frame - each ball had two strings coming down from each side of the support, to balance each ball in the middle in alignment with the other 4 of them. Then you'd pull back one silver ball and let it hit the other balls. The 3 balls in the middle would stay still, while the impact energy would get transferred to the ball on the opposite side causing it to be pushed out. Upon returning, it would do the same to the other ball opposite it (the one you started with).

Ok, Hikaru.EXE - I got a film for you to check out sometime. If you're learning about the heart and other related organs, you should check out an old film called "Inner Space" starring Dennis Quaid and Martin Short. Old film? Oh man - I guess it is old to you... or at least much older than you. Anyway - it's a really cool film where a man is shrunken down and injected in to a human. He's in an aquatic-like pod (which is shrunken with him). It has some great visual FX about what it might look like to see a human from the inside out. Even today, the visual FX hold up pretty well. Some of the styles may be dated to the late 80's (when it came out), but all in all, the film holds up well in my opinion. Cool film and very well done visual FX of a living human from the eyes of a nano-explorer.

Yes I've heard of that film. Some other shows are based off it.

There used to be a ride at Epcot that was based on this subject too. It would pull you back and forth when you were near the heart. Wrenched my neck, it did.

No... this one was at Epcot and was a simulator ride like Star Tours. (EDT: Found it online. It's called "Body Wars". I am not sure if it's still there or not. I remember this ride was notorious for injuries.)
I know what you're talking about though. I remember as a kid (in the 70's) being TERRIFIED of that ride because they were going to shrink us down!!! I was seriously stressed about the danger of it all.
Ahh, to be young and have that level of imagination and wonder again...
