He wants to do gaming with it. He sees Flight Simulator X coming up, and Microsoft Vista, and DirectX 10, and wants to take advantage of all that. I don't know how video cards work. If I search newegg.com, they all say "DirectX 9." Does this mean they won't be optimized or tailored for DirectX 10? In which case, he should wait until some DirectX 10 video cards hit the market?

So which linuc distro are you using on yours? I'm using Ubuntu. Tried a couple of others like redhat, Suse, and corel. But I prefer my nice lil ubuntu one right now. Version 5.10 Breezy badger.

Thats with the KDE gui interface right. Nice set up on that one. I stuck with my trusty Gnome gui over hre. The only thing I would have to do is to get a beard, grow it long and dye it grey, and get that gnome outfit there with the tall red hat and everything else there you know.

My mother has a Dell. And everytime my 2 year old HP laptop goes out of commission and I'm forced to use it, I feel like ripping my eyeballs out. They're great systems, just not for me.
