Well, $68 million is not as big as they wanted, but Titanic did the same thing.
Wait and see what the "Word of Mouth" machine does for King Kong.

The word form my mouth is *yawwn* Although some of the efx were cool and stuff, I wasn't that thrilled by it. They tried to pack too much into it, imo. Maybe this is one of those 'you either love it, or hate it' kind of movies?
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

Well, I finally got around to seeing this. I liked it except that I have a problem with its length. I feel it was made long for "being long" sake, and a lot of scenes dragged because (I feel) the director was purposely trying to drag the film out. Maybe it's his signature thing now... to make three hour movies? I dunno.
Whereas Lord Of The Rings was made long because there was so much to the story and there was so much to cram into a movie, I feel King Kong could have actually benefitted from editing and made about a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes shorter.
Otherwise, it was pretty good.I did catch the Wilhelm.
