Hey... If you want to put that C64 to use, I've got lots of disk images.... We'll have to figure out how to convert them to either tape or 5'25 inch.... Just for good mesure.. |

Hey Qixx if you ahd a emulator working of the commodore 64 running on your home computer with a 5.25 1.2 meg floppy dsrive still in your computer. Couldn't you just format it and just copy it. I think the drive are able to read and right to it. Just a matter of writing properly to the drive itself. ANd using a single head instead of both heads at the same time like what the regular DOS and windows use.

I know there's a way to hook the 1514 to a serial port on a PC, but I forgot exactly how to do that. The fun thing will be finding blank 5.25 floppies
I have all my original C-64 floppies but you'd need two discs to copy one to the other.
What games did you get? There are a few C-64 games that stand out in my mind:
1) Impossible Misson
2) Leaderboard Golf
3) Adventure Construction Set
4) Parallax
5) Uridium
And more. Man there were some GOOD games on the C-64

Awesome, Josh.exe! I think it's so cool that you're interested in this 80s stuff! You like Tron and Atari 2600 games, and now are on-board (soon) with a Commodore 64?? That rules.
Not sure how you'd get this onto a 5.25" floppy disk, but I hope you get to try out Defender of the Crown some day. Cinemaware has it as a free download from their site, but you have to register with them first... http://www.cinemaware.com/clsgame_dotc.asp?sel=c64rom
Wings (also made by Cinemaware) was another one I liked (for its time).
I like the games Boingo_Buzzard mentioned, too -- although, I never played Adventure Construction Set. I totally forgot about Leaderboard Golf!order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I wish Commodore (the company) would make a come-back. They were near or at the top as far as gaming quality goes for their time. I'd be interested in seeing a resurgence of Commodore into the mainstream gaming market. I would probably even buy one instead of an XBOX or PlayStation, just to see them rise up again.
In some respects, I think Atari has done this. Seems like Atari's logo went away for many years... now they're making new games and stuff.

A thing that would be interesting in that way. It would still play the original games all those years ago. ANd more powerful up to todays standards. Which would be very interesting to see too here. Since it would play the original games plus newer ones that would fit intothe market of todays computer consoles. I could only imagine that if Commodore does come back onto themarket like this. I would wonder if they would keep the same design as the original or move something mor modern including a hard disk and the essentials of what we have today as being a part computer and gaming console. And still work on a regular tv at the same time.

Thats what my old boss had said until one day he said the same thing when we needed it all those years agoi. He was kicking himself in the pants when it happened and was peeved off at himself when I told him not to throw it away. It would he listen to an old techie like me. You never know when your going to need it.

(OOC: We got broadband last friday!!! I'm back after a quite long while )
My dad bought us C64 in 1995, it was our very first computer. It was until 1998 we bought a PC.
Our C64 is running good, the only problems I've had with it have been two burnt fuses (one from the transformer and one from the machine itself), after replacing them it's been working like new. It's the 1984 machine, grey with brown keys. We also got 1986 yellow 1541 floppy drive and a MPS-1250 matrix printer with it, alongside 50 floppies of games and utilities.
Last summer I bought a huge amount of C64 stuff with VERY low price! It was a real bargain: with just 30 euros (about the same in dollars) I got these: 3 machines (which none works properly), 3 floppy drives (2 working), 2 cassette drives (at least 1 works), 2 module games (1 works), 1 loader module, 1 cassette game and over 250 floppies full of games!
After a couple of weeks I had browsed through the mountain of floppies and listed all the games. There was over 630 different, working games!!! So, I really have something to choose from. You can't believe how enthusiastic I was when I got that pile of disks!
By the way, you can get blank floppies somewhere. There's been some for sale in a finnish internet auction pages Huuto.net. I haven't bought them, I still have some empty disks that came with the original C64 we bough 1995!
Commodore 64 rocks forever!

Welcome back, Lightforce! I noticed you had been away for some time. Glad to see you back at The Sector!
Those are some great images of your Commodore 64. The C64 was my first computer too. I got mine back in 1983... or was it '84... one of those two. I used to spend hours writing basic programs on that thing, and playing games. I still have my C64 too... but it's been in storage for well over a decade now. I'll have to pull that thing out sometime and see if it still works. It worked the last time I had it hooked up... many years ago.

TheReelTodd: Dig up that machine of yours! It's highly unlikely that it wouldn't work. We had our own C64 in storage for a couple of years, because we didn't have space to use it. Now it's mounted in one of our outhouses/storages, and you can use them if you aren't afraid of cold.
After being in storage for so long, our machine had a couple of problems: it had collected dust and thus the keys didn't print on the screen as they should've. For example you could get letter 'M' from several keys and letter 'I' from none. That was fixed with some high-pressure 'air-conditioning' done with my father's compressed air pistol. After that everything worked fine.
Though I have so many games I'm still missing some games I really long for: Knight Rider, Zypar, Burnin' Rubber and Dragon Fire. I've never had Zypar or Knight Rider. Burnin' Rubber and Dragon Fire were 'mystically' destroyed when I (in my great wisdom) formatted the game floppy... I didn't know back then what format ment and of course I had to try!!! With a disastrous effect. I destroyed two of my favourite games... Burnin' Rubber was the best!
If I could just get them back....
(OOC: Plus the broadband I now have the connection in my OWN computer in my OWN room too!! Found the proper cable. No more surfing on my mom's machine.)
