The cycles have entered the Arena...

on Thursday, November, 03, 2005 11:02 AM
Seeing Euphemizm's work in this thread:

http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?do=top&id=321477
has prompted me to find the time to start playing with my models again. Here is the first image I've made that included both my Light Cycle model and my Arena model.

Enjoy,
Carl

Haaaaaaaa!

That's great, Carl!

I LOVE your light cycles and they look so damn cool in the light cycle game grid arena!

I totally LOVE that you've pretty well maintained the true TRON look. I mean that you've kept it really true to the way they looked in the film, from the soft-light look of the cycles themselves, to the way the jet walls form from the back. Of all the light cycles I've seen re-created (and they're all cool), yours are the best proportioned and closest to the original dimensions of the REAL light cycles in the film!

Yes, I love your work - I've been waiting for some more great TRON imagery from you.

I'm adding this image to your fan art page in the Image Gallery!

Please - continue! I never get bored of these things. I only wish I could master 3D applications well enough to render cool TRON imagery!

Could you add section to the fan art page for Euphemizm's images? I think they deserve a place there too

I never get bored of this either... its just a time issue here lately as my job seems to be taking more and more of my time. Having gone though unemployment believe me I'm not about to complain. I just need to make more time for this stuff...

Yep - just did!

You know - how the heck did I miss those?

Perhaps it was the thread name? I would never expect to find cool light cycle renderings in that thread - it was a Kubric Tron Sets thread. Thanks for tipping me off!

Yes, Euphemizm did some very cool and well-done light cycle renderings!

I was just asked here:

http://news.povray.org/povray.binaries.images/thread/%3Cweb.436bc17defc26f7070dc520d0%40news.povray.org%3E/
If I could add some reflection to the grid. So I'm also posting this here for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy,
Carl

Reflection looks great in that one Carl. It's not too reflective, which is great for it adds some depth to the grid. Very nice.

Yeah - the reflection looks great, technically. However, I much more enjoy the actual and original look of TRON.

Just my opinion though. abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Just doing some more playing...

To give you an idea of the resolution I render this at to solve AA issues check this out:

You can even see the reflection of the opposite wall of the arena on the front tire of the red bike. I thought that was cool...

Also here is a picture I want to show for 2 reasons.

I made an error in the color of the blue bike. I put a comma where I should have put a period and that was the result... a stealth lightcycle. Also since that was a test render it was rendered at just the resolution you see here and notice the AA issues the other pictures don't have.

AA = Anti-Aliasing

Enjoy,
Carl

Wow - everything is reflecting everything in your latest light cycle image. And so it is reflected in your fan art page!

I know it was just a resolution demo image, but for some reason I find that close up front wheel reflection image really cool looking.

And now we know the secret of stealth - comma where the period should be. I bet that worked on the B2 stealth too. That great engineering mis-type resulted in low radar profile! he he he

As far as your anti-alias issues, is it possible for you to render to relatively low resolution images offset 1 half pixel (or whatever increment) vertically and then blend the two images? I was wondering if that might help fill-in and smooth the look of the jaggy and broken lines you end up with. You may have already tried something like this, but I just wanted to pass that along in case you hadn’t.

Nice pun... And thanks...

I do too... That image was actually cut from the first image before I resized it down to the size of the others. The original is 13664x6256 and makes an 7,031 KB png image. I think many parts of it are very cool to zoom into. If you want to look at the original I've put it here:

I'm afraid to try and post it here as an image.

If I render at twice the resolution and resize down that is basically the same thing as you describe. What I'm doing is rendering at 16 times the final resolution and resizing down. If you look at the 16x image you will see there are still broken lines in places. They are just in places where you don't notice them after I've shrunk the image down.

That's amazing wwwmwww, to see all that detail there! I didn't know you rendered such big original images. Maybe you should put a picture of Waldo (or Tron) somewhere out-of-view in your arena and have it be reflected in the grid, a light cycle or wall somewhere... then send us the huge PNG file and have us play a "Where's Waldo (...err Tron)" game!

Of course, it'd probably be pretty easy. But I cracked myself up over that one so I just wanted to say

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^
