Serenity

This is a pretty good sci-fi flick. I was a little hesitant about seeing it but was pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for something good to see that's out I suggest this movie.

I love that movie!! It's even cooler, because I saw the first nine minutes of it before I went and saw the movie...

The internet is a cool thing...

You can post using the black box technique, if you want. I'd be interested why you thought it was dissapointing. I was not a huge fan of the TV show and I think only watched one show. Were you?

I didn't even know that it was a show until, like a day or so before I saw the movie. Actualy, the day it was suggested to me, I had abseloutly NO idea what the movie was.

But, thanks to the internet, I saw the first nine minutes of the movie before I went and saw it. YAY!

Yeah, but I'm not sure if I have right because the faq doesn't have it listed, so I might end up accidentally posting the spoilers and irriting people. X_x

You use the quote tag but then set your font color to black. If you quote the post I did above you'll see the example. Basically it's just a quote box with this right after the first "quote" reference:

font color="#000000"

Oh. XP I typed up this post earlier but realized that I didn't know how to do the spoiler tag thing, so yeah. I didn't want to accidentally post it and spoil everyone. @_@

---

I was.

I guess I could post the spoilers...

I felt the deaths were a major cop-out because Joss had said that he tried to get the two actors onto the movie and came up with a very good solution. Good solution, my arse! I'm never watching anything of his where he kills people just for the heck of it (Joss does have a very horrible habit of doing this. He even killed Buffy just because he could. I didn't even want to watch both series after Buffy's mother died but I was forced to by my older sister. Firefly seemed different because to me, it felt more engrossing than either Buffy or Angel). Book had so much to tell about his mysterious past and Wash... Wash was pretty much killed for NO reason. That ticked me off so bad that I was crying in the theatre. I've seen that other people who felt that the deaths were a major cop-out were repeadly insulted and told that they weren't true fans for being irritated with the movie and Joss. So, that's why I didn't want to post my feelings about the movie even though I know you guys wouldn't do that to me. <3

However, the movie was very good. :/

I didn't know anything about the movie or the TV show, I just went for a good flick. I thought it was great. The loss of that character was shocking, but didn't hit me too hard, Kia, probably because I was new to the characters and they weren't that heavily developed in this film. It actually seemed more realistic and honest to me with that death.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Yeah, I can see how it's not that bad to the people who's not seen the tv show, but it was just horrid to me. :/

It felt like my emotions were being played with. X_x

I totally understand where you're coming from, Kia.

It's like Whedon wanted to make Serenity his Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

The only difference is that in ST II, the death of a major character was unexpected, yet had meaning - very significant meaning to the story.

In this case, it was - to me - just a shock. Now, I understand what he was doing with regards to the uninitiated. Basically at that point it made it seem that ANYONE was fair game - and it certainly builds to that.

But I hated to see the two who died go the way they did. There was so much more to learn about them and so many more stories to tell.

Plus, where were the "two by two, hands of blue" guys? They scared the hell out of me in the series and here they were NOWHERE to be seen!

Don't get me wrong - I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I thought it was a lot of fun and it was just wonderful to see that cast back together again in a new adventure. I love Malcolm - he's like Han Solo and Indiana Jones combined, with a dash of Butch Cassidy! I LOVE Kaylee!!!! She makes me feel kinda funny - like when we used to climb the rope in gym class!

She definitely has the best line of the film - hell, the TWO best lines in the film!

Definitely fun and I like that it's not unaccessible for those who never watched Firefly. I know several folks who saw it - not even knowing it was based on a TV show - who loved it!

I can see how that would bum out a fan of the TV show. I think maybe I watched one or two, but my memory isn't all that great and I really don't recall anything of the TV show.

So that part didn't really strike me. But I can see where it would make some people angry who were die-hard fans of the show.

Oh, I see where you're coming from. It's like when the Transformers Movie killed off all the main characters in the first five minutes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I went to see it on the weekend and loved it! It reminded me a lot of the good ol' days where I would camp out in front of the TV watching Firefly every Friday night that it was on (Until it got cancelled.) When my sis was saying "It's just like Firefly" I didn't know it WAS Firefly until we walked in the doors. So I was very happy to see it again! Anyways, my thoughts was that it was a very powerful movie with some interesting themes and ideas including River's perception (Or more like distorted perception) of reality and her frequent hallucinations. So I really can't say that it was a really bad movie (Even though I was practically glued to the series when it was still airing). I felt that the deaths of certain characters (Hinthint) wasn't entirly a bad thing. If anything, it sorta made you appreciate the character a little bit more. (I also think that it also gives means for the creators of Firefly/Serenity means to continue the series in some form or another. But I'm not saying that the deaths aren't the only loose ends here. There are a few more that I can think of but anyways..... just whatever they do, they should never give it over to Fox again seeing as they have this nasty habit of running potentially good shows in to the ground.)

But overall, it was a great movie that I'd probably watch again once it comes out on to DVD (Since movie tickets have gotten quite expensive around here and they offer no student rates where everywhere else in the city does....)

I realy didn't notice it until I watched the first episode of the show last night, but it's so...westerny! (I don't mean that as a bad thing...I think I'd call that 'uniqueness' or something.)

I think it's funny that Simon seems to be the only educated person on the ship... HAHA..

It's a great show too! YAY! How did I not find out about this earlier? Why didn't anyone tell me about it?

WHY?

Oh well, at least I get to watch the show still.

Yeah that was the premise from the beginning. I am glad they kept that aspect of it in the movie although the trailers didn't really advertise it much.
The actors were good about using that 1800's manner of speech without stumbling over it which I thought was quite the feat. The quote from the one girl about the "battery powered friend" was worded quite halariously, I thought.
