Game testing Job for Me...

on Friday, September, 23, 2005 4:20 AM

Hey,

I'm getting a new video game testing job.
Anyway the guy offering the job asks me. :
"You play video games?"

I tell him: "Yeah , I play video games better than anybody".

Just like Flynn said is Tron, when they told him they were gonna make him play video games.

He says you get the job! And that he liked my attitude.

Damm it must've been great to have been one of the game testers on Tron 2.0 .... I can imagine...

Well I'm practicing my gaming skills for the job.

Wow. Easy interview.

What company is this for?

...and yes, it was awesome to be part of the team for TRON 2.0. One of the highlights of my career and a primary reason I got into the games biz.

My new passion is games on Cel phones. I am fascinated by this area, and having a blast doing it.

at the moment, i'm thoroughly enjoying my CAD lessons at college [Computer Aided Design for those without the know-how] this involves using a 3d modelling program. i may take this subject further, and may even end up as a 3d model maker at a Game manufacturer. it's not testing per se, i can do that all i want at home. but making the games it what i'm aspiring to...

It's a great industry if you can watch what's going on and make the right moves. I've never been sorry I got into this biz. I've worked with some real dickheads, but overall, they number far less than the people I have truly enjoyed working with and learned from.

Mr. Roboto?

Domo, domo.

Well, that song is playing in my head now. May as well give in and sing it out loud to annoy the wife a little!

That's awesome, MCPcomputer Good Tron story.

I once interviewed for a job and the interviewer said, "What makes you think you're cut out for this job?" To which I replied, "With the information I can access, I can run things 900 to 1200 times better than any human." And sure enough! I got the job!!

Okay, I'm a liar. Just being funny there. But I do like your story MCPc

And play-testing for Tron 2.0 was, indeed, an awesome experience!

I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^

You know, I've actually used a line from TRON during interviews before. In fact, I used it for my current job interview - over TEN years ago.

The line in the film is "The high command says there are not problems, only solutions." I clearly remember putting something similar to that on my resume back in the day, and even quoting something very similar to that during my interview. I didn't use "high command" or anything, but I did comment that I didn't believe in problems, only solutions that needed to be discovered.

So I guess it works to some extent. I mean, using TRON references in job interviews. At least it helped in my case. They were impressed with my positive outlook at problem solving.

Yeah the interview was pretty easy.
I had some references from friends who already work
there, so it was pretty easy.

The guy liked the Tron line. He didn't know I got it from Tron lol.

This is for Sony playstation games, that I'll be working for.

Wow, that sounds awesome. I wish I could've tested Tron 2.0. But I'm glad I at least finally have the game now. And I'll be in the games until I die playing.

Thank you, Traahn! I'm glad you liked my story.
I really like your story that's a good one! For my next job I gotta use that line! . Man I wish I could've been there with the rest of you users, playing Tron 2.0. Well at least I'm able to play the game now, It's the best game I've played in a while.

Wow TheReelTodd that's great! The lines from Tron are awesome and can impress bosses who think we actually thought of the lines ourselves.

That is awesome I'm glad Tron also helped you get the job.

When ever I'm gonna do some computer work, I always watch Tron. Or I just throw on some Tron music and get to work. It really motivates me to keep working and keeps my mind focused.

Dave,

Does THQ have any plans for downloadable games for the PSP? I would like to see that.
