Hey, welcome Saving Session!

The image tags here are in lower case. I had that problem when I first joined - [ img ] rather than [IMG], but minus the spaces.

Enjoy your stay here at the Sector! Unfortunately, we can't afford minty chocolates on the pillows every morning.

I'm no stranger to forums. Although, the signatures have made me a little miffed as of late. Does this forum format not allow image tags? Or do you crazy cats use something else?
I raise my eyebrows.
Moving on.
I tend to float through forums. The one I have called my home the longest is Kingdom Hearts Ultimania. I used to hold a volunteer job position there, but had to pull myself away after finding I could no longer keep up in real life as well as in the virtual world. I have recently returned to that forum, but only with a small amount of focus. I continue my four year love of joining new forums. So here I am.
It seems this community has few strict rules and many kind and close people. I'm glad to have stumbled across a beautiful main site as well.
I hope to see you around, members of Tron Sector.

Greetings, saving session and welcome to TRON-Sector!

In regards to your image tag question... NoExcuses seems to have gotten you on the right path. Looks like you got your siggie up and running.

So you're a forum floater, eh? I used to be too. For some reason, I seemed to kind of phase out around the 100 post mark, give or take. But TRON-Sector has kept a strong hold on me... and I LIKE it! Sure, life in the real world sucks up most of my time, and I can't be as active here as I'd like to be, but this is my favorite place on the internet! You will not find a friendlier, more positive, and creatively charged forum anywhere else on the net. This community is truly unique in that regard. We all know each other, we're all friends, we all play nicely together... and we ALL love TRON!

A couple of threads you may want to hit are:

What's with your name?

And...

Don't forget to PING in every time you have yourself Another dose of TRON

I think you'll enjoy your time here at The Sector

Hi there. Been lurking for a long time. I first saw Tron when it came out in '82. I was 16 and spent all my time in the arcades. I paid to see the movie 6 times and have probably seen it a couple dozen times since. I keep a copy on my TiVo box so I can watch favorite scenes at will. Yes, I am an addict :-), and I waited over 20 years for the video game (I never beat it, but at least made it to the last level). I eagerly await the next issue of the comic. More!

I live in Silicon Valley and work at everyone's favorite fruit company.

A great welcome, aldul...

So many of our regular members were lurkers. I suppose that is wise so that they can get a feel of how these forums work and get an idea of the people here...

I'm always glad to meet new members and hope they become regular members to the site. So please, make yourself at home and come back often to keep us company.

This is truely a great place, and once you get to know us I'm sure you'll like us... either that or you'll go postal... lol... kidding...

If you ever need help or have any questions, just ask. No one is going to give you any grief and if they do, I'll sic Trace on them...... that is if I can find Trace.... hmmm... What happend to her?

Been enjoying exploring this site for a few days now so I thought it only right that I join!

I am a huge fan of TRON. Saw it at the cinema in 1982 and 'rediscovered' it recently when I played the superb TRON 2.0 game.

I then bought the anniversary dvd and found the documentary on the dvd fascinating and appreciate the movie much more now than I did when I was 12.

Learnt about the comic from this site so ordered it and read it this morning! Certainly leaves you wanting more!

I'm a writer and have written for TV and my first novel (fantasy of course!) is out in October.

P.S. Anyone know where I can get Kubrick sets A and B apart from ebay?

Thanks for a great site!

All best wishes
Alex

Welcome, morganswift!

I see that TheReelTodd hasn't gotten his beardy face over here to give you the standard, substandard greeting, so I'll fill in for him.

First off, congratulations for making the leap from lurker to member! There are a lot of lurkers who seem too scared to join... I was lurking for about a month before I joined...

Secondly, why does nowhere in Lincolnshire seem to stock the comic?

Thirdly, tell us more about this novel! Start your own thread if you haven't already.

And fourth - ask TimothyC

Enjoy yourself here, take a handful of the complimentary biscuits and steal the shampoo from the shower (it's OK so long as Auric doesn't catch you).

Apologies for the lack of beard.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Thanks for the warm welcome, NoExcuses!

The only place I could find in the UK to get the comic was www.ComicDomain.co.uk. I don't normally read comics and was surprised how short it was but I guess it's better to be left wanting more! Thought the artwork was great and story intriguing so far. Do you know when #2 is due?

I'm kind of feasting on TRON at the moment. I watched the movie the other night with the commentary, I'm playing through the game again and, yep, there's the comic too. If I can find the Kubricks the 'real world' will seem a far off place!

Lurkinghorror will know for sure (since he's writing the comic), but so far it looks like it will be released on July 26th in the U.S. Though he hinted that it might arrive a bit later, in early August.

Welcome to Tron-Sector, BTW.

Thanks redrain85. I'll look forward to #2! Be great when they're all done if they were bound into a graphic novel.

BTW, how do I do the emoticons and signature banner? I don't normally do forums but this seems like a good place to hang my hat!

For emoticons, click on the word Digicons which is below the site banner near the top of the screen. It's beside Search and Forum FAQ. Those little links are easy to miss, because they're so small. The Digicons page lists all the codes you can type to get the emoticons.

For the signature, click the word Edit on the top right of the screen to edit your Profile. The signature info can be edited there.

Greetings from Hawai'i, Programs!

I just joined these forums & wanted to say a formal hello.

I (like many of you, I'm guessing) saw Tron during its original theatrical release in the 80s. I loved the movie & often played the (first) stand-up game in the arcades. [Man, I love that game.] I played Discs of Tron (the sit-down version?) here in Hawai'i as well but not as much as I did the first game.

Over the last, say 16 years, I have been nostalgic for many things. M.A.S.K., Star Wars, G.I. Joe, (the ORIGINAL Battlestar Galactica), etc.. I guess it was only a matter of time before a powerful nostalgic Tron kick hit me.

Was browsing the YouTube.com site at a friend's house the other night when one of his friends said, "look for Tron stuff, look for Tron stuff!". As soon as he said that, I said, "I just know it."

Sure enough, my kick's been going on for about a week now. Bought the 20th Anniversary 2-disc DVD and a few light cycles. Will be getting the soundtrack soon & hopefully some other stuff as well. [Saved lots of Tron images to my computer for the screensaver, as well!]
Looking forward to talking about the legend of Tron & learning more about this great universe.

Best wishes to everyone.

End of line.

Greetings, Jayce and welcome to TRON-Sector!

Funny how the old nostalgic urges kick in, huh? And I too, am a BIG fan of Battlestar Galactica - the ORIGINAL one only. These days, I'm just happy to find people who remember and enjoyed the original!

Well, I hope your TRON kick lasts for a while. You see, ALL of us here at TRON-Sector have been on a HUGE TRON kick since... well, 1982! And those who weren't around yet in 1982, they got hooked whenever they saw TRON. I believe it is a sign of greatness - the love of TRON we all share. And I've come to find that in most cases, TRON fans are highly creative, talented, intelligent individuals. What's your art, if you don't mind my asking?

A couple of threads you may want to hit are:

Thanx to DaveTron & The Reel Todd for the responses!

It's always nice to feel welcome!

Yeah, Battlestar Galactica (the original). I definitely remember it. In fact, I took the plunge & bought the entire original series on DVD when it first came out (the Cylon Centurion face box). I love that stuff. Won't say anything negative about the new "Battlestar" series but I don't watch it. If only it were a series by another name...

My art? Well, I've been trying to update my profile here at The Sector but, somehow, I only seem to run into errors. Currently, my hobbies & interests include filmmaking, martial arts & costuming.

In addition to Tron, I am also a big fan of Star Wars. In fact, it was my love for Star Wars that inspired me to study film & television writing at George Lucas's alma mater, U.S.C. (the University of Southern California). Even though I was born & raised here in Hawai'i, I also lived in L.A. for a total of 8 years. I was poking around the sector & saw the post string about the location of "Flynn's Arcade" in Culver City, California. That struck me as AWESOME! Ha, ha. I used to live near Marina del Rey (in Mar Vista) and must have passed that Flynn's Arcade building numerous times without knowing it's fantastic fan significance. Can't wait to visit L.A. & take pictures in front of that very building!

I, too, hope my Tron kick will last a while. As with other fan communities I've joined (Star Wars, & U.S. Colonial Marines from the movie ALIENS), I've always made good, memorable friends that I still keep in touch with. I still feel welcome in those discussion boards and always hope to keep it that way.

I humbly invite you all to check out my Star Wars-inspired fan website, http://www.rebellegionhawaii.com . I have tons of pictures posted in the Gallery section with at least 2 more pages still to come in the Celebration III sub-section.

I have LOTS of Tron-related questions to ask but I will be sure to post these questions in the appropriate post strings (or sections if there are none yet). Also, The Reel Todd, I'll be sure to check out those strings that you recommended!

My best wishes to everyone.

END OF LINE.

Jayce

Me too! My wife bought me the Cylon faced DVD set of the entire original BSG series! LOVE it! It was my favorite TV show as a kid and far too short lived. I very much dislike the "new" BSG and share in the sentiment of call it by another name, and it's cool, but it is NOT BSG at all. Not to me anyway. Oh well.

Jayce Wrote:My art? Well, I've been trying to update my profile here at The Sector but, somehow, I only seem to run into errors. Currently, my hobbies & interests include filmmaking, martial arts & costuming.

I knew it - TRON and TRON-Sector always attracts artistically inclined folks! Cool interests and hobbies. I share in some of those - I toy with filmmaking, took martial arts (Ibuke-Do style Kickfighting) in the mid 90's, and wear a costume every day. My costume is called "trying to look like a normal guy".

Jayce Wrote:In addition to Tron, I am also a big fan of Star Wars. In fact, it was my love for Star Wars that inspired me to study film & television writing at George Lucas's alma mater, U.S.C. (the University of Southern California).

You'll find that many TRON-Sector members share other interests as well. That is why this community is so cool and special. Many Star Wars fans here (including myself). When I first saw it at age 6 in the summer of '77, I knew I was destined to go in to filmmaking and special FX. I didn't pursue that career, but I play with it as a hobby. Love the original, original trilogy! Not such a fan of the prequels. They're ok, but not even close to the original films - just my opinion.

Many members of TRON-Sector became bigger fans of TRON after hanging out here for a while. This really is a special and very unique online community. You won't find a friendlier and more genuinely caring group of folks anywhere else. Or at least I haven't. I've never lasted at other message forums for long. This one really captured me though - I love it!

I checked it out briefly on break at work earlier today. Pretty cool! I enjoyed looking through several photos of people at the EP3 line-up. You really got a lot of great photos there - I'll be checking out more soon.

I'm not sure if you've every heard of this, but there's some weird-o nerd out there who actually took Star Wars film footage and re-edited it to some musical numbers to make it look like the original film was not Star Wars, but instead Star Wars - The Musical. Pretty funny stuff.
