Well, today my summer Typography class ended. Whoo Hoo! I just loafed and let my mind relax from all the time consuming text projects I've been anchored down with since mid July. I did a little photo edit experiment using one of the photos from the Who's Your User setion of the site. I used Lew's image cause of the angle, and close up. I did this as a quick avatar technique test using paintbrush and a photo.

That's pretty cool. He looks like a regular ol consrcipt there. Hopefully he has received the standard/sub-standard training... 
What filters did you use to get the lighting effects? "Lighting Effects"?

Didn't use any filters. I did use the Layer Effects, Outter Glow option. The glow still doesn't feel enough like a light glow to me, at it's original size, but it looks great when scaled down to avatar size, which is what I was going for. This means I can lessen the smaller details and shorten the time it takes to create an avatar, at least a photo edit one.
