Basically, we've just been informed that we will have 8 extra pages to play with in the Tron comic book. Some of this will go to ads and some of this will go to pin-up art. But we've asked our publisher about including some text material as well - interview type things and the like. He approved the idea, so basically, we thought we would ask all of you what you thought you would like to see.
However, if you have an idea, remember that it may be used without any compensation or credit. This is just an opportunity to influence the magazine in a positive way, not necessarily a job opportunity. Forgive me for bringing this up, but I'm pretty much required to. For the record, we will never use something without express permission. We just want to interact with the fans to help make this a book that will spread the popularity of Tron, something I think we all want to see happen.

This is just an idea on my part here. How about a small Bio of some of the characters within the comic book itself. I'm just going to use something here as an example but try to make something that may be different so that you don't get hit with a lawsuit of of anysort. Do you remember at one point in time there was some comics out from Marvel. Where they had some bio' from different characters that are or were available at one point in print form. I know they still have them electronically on their web site. But just an idea of some things like that without super human powers or something like that in a way that you have something to work with for each character.
That would be one way of doing it. But it could be just a small blurbof some sort like 8 characters per page depending on how many bios you would be using in the first episode.

I agree, Bios are cool
In fact, since this is a book abut Tron 2.0 why not get some of the nice art that was on the now defunct Tron20.net site and print it up for all to see (and posterity since cool stuff on the net tends to disapear with time)
Art that depicted the characters, vehicles, weapons, etc. Plus all that stuff is already made so it'd be kind of easy to do a cool layout to show it off
Cheers

Great suggestions!
Clavet:
While that's kind of out of the scope of the book (as in, there wouldn't be enough pages to do it right), it would make a very good one off magazine of it's own. I have no idea if using that artwork (rather than reinterpretations of that artwork), would be allowed. Rights issues. In fact, we contemplated looking into getting the environment models to use in our background art creation. But that process seemed difficult o navigate. Still, focusing on those elements (the showcase of design) is a good idea worth looking into.
Compucore:
Also a good idea, and probably one that would work with the second issue. The reasons why it wouldn't would not work with the first will likely be apparent down the road. If I do understand the suggestion correctly, I think DC had something similar as well. DC 'Who's Who". I loved this as a kid and subsequently still have an encyclopedic knowledge of the DC universe because of this series.
Boingo_Buzzard:
Neat, and would work best as something inserted into the issue rather than in the back of the book. Also may require some form of ink or printing that would be cost prohibitive. I'll ask my publisher.

anything back lit would be perfect!
I'd love to see some sort of general art pages - like circuirty or tron world landscapes, something way out.

I would have to agree with you on that too. I am sure that DC has it as well remember seeing it at one point there too. And I understand that it would not be in the first issue. Again its a good idea like the others. Maybe like what you had said there in a later edition more likely since it still in the initial stages right now with the first issue for it. I understand completely. I think if memory serves me correctly here too To add on with Clevet thought on his suggestion. Maybe you could add in stats about the vehicles. Like for the light cycles, tanks, and other vehicles that are within the Tron Realm. I will try and think of some other suggestion here with the others since we are all Tron fans here. And would love to see Tron flurish in comic form as well. Or add it in a seperate issue for the tron comic collection at a later date. There are some general material that is out there from the game and some general knowledge from the movie that we could extrapulate further for what is there. and not quoting directly with what is already available for the game and the movie.
I am just curious here lurknghorror here and it might be something to consider here. Extrapulating from my original idea of character bios that I made before. Could you dedicate 1 page in each issue for a single character at the end of the comic and introduce them into the issue. Maybe that would be another idea to work into. Like start off with Jet/Alan bradly or Ma3a and go from there.
God don't you like bran storming with the fans to see what we come up with.

Woot! I collected those issues and I still have them.
I thought they were so awesome the way they fleshed out the characters and made them seem more like real people. I think it's a great idea for the Tron realm as well, especially if we got to know each program's user counterpart. That would be particularly neat.
Also, Boingo took the words right out of my mouth with the whole glowing black poster idea. Even traditional glow in the dark ink would be cool if that's another option.

I still have a couple here myself over here. Plus some other compics as well. All in their plastic covers. I just have to catalog them now into a database over here. and try to get them evaluated too to make sure the pricing is right. Its been a number of years since I have looked at them. And it would be a good idea to have the iformation on them on my computer. I think i have close to over 200 over here some where I don't remember the exact numbers. I will once i get them cataloged over here. and their proper values too.

You're better off than I then. I was a wee teen when I first picked up those issues so I didn't take into consideration their value until many years later. They were loose for quite a bit of time but still in decent enough condition to enjoy them. I have them in sleeves currently and tucked away in a box in the basement (where we have a dehumidifier running on a timer). They'll be safe there until I dig them out again some day but probably not anytime soon though. My more prized comics stay in my closet upstairs where they still get looked at now and again, but I try not to touch them too much, especially since they're in such mint condition. heh, I nearly forgot how much I enjoyed comic collecting. Talking about it now kinda brings back my original excitement for trading/collecting.

How about some FAN art. If you wanted to put something like either of these in the comic I'd be happy to let you.
I'd be willing to even make something new just for the comic if you wanted me to.

You are very kind redrain85. Thank you. By the way, the above images are jpegs I think. Certainly the second one as I see dozens of compression artifacts. I've got the original png files and I could render them at even larger resolutions if needed. If you went with the FAN art idea I'd love to see others submit art too. If you have extra pages in issues besides the first issue you could ask the readers to submit art too. That would give others that might not be familar with TRON-Sector a chance.
Just offering an idea,
Carl

I think a discussion/interview page would be neat where the people involved with the comic talk about the film and it's aspects and mabey how it's influenced them. Would love to see what type of impact it's had with the artists involved.

Very much so! It's pretty much how the industry works. On a good project, the people developing the work are fans themselves. So having this dialog is akin to me and Eric (the co-writer) sitting here and throwing ideas back and forth.

That's some incredible work. I think a fan art section of some kind is a must. But would unfortunately be fairly limited due to space. Let me mull that one over...

Nice pics everyone. I'm not a reader of comics, however I know where they started, and ended up. If it fits with history, you can use tin foil, and some ink, and make some concept glam commercials, with the "you are home here look", and make us flip the page. In retrospect, I might like to scratch and sniff what they smell like, and then you may use an ad for Jet user cologne, or Ma3a shampoo. Jk.
But really... um why dont you use an insert inside of a sleeve, with the lenses used to recreate the comic in true tron glow art. (different color, and figures) Much needed for visuals to make it a digital looking masterpeice to make it a value.

Well lets see how much more we can do here to help you and your co-writer Eric can get. It would be great to see to get everything that you can get the comic book packed into every issue for you and for us as fans for it.
