I researched the structure as a refresher before writing that. 3-5-3 and many other variations are accepted as haiku.
I used to fancy myself a poet in Jr. High School, trying to impress girls. I wrote tons of haikus thinking I'd get some action! 
I ventured into song writing in high school and college years.
I had a brief musical career before I became a geek and took a different path.
Someday I will share some video with all of you of my one video-taped live performance.

TRON Poem 01010100
Bad guys glow red
Good guys glow blue
To dig up the truth
Flynn sent in Clu
Foiled by Recos
Clu's tank hit the wall
Soon Group Access 7
Had no access at all
Flynn forged group 6
In the laser bay, see
Then Master Control
Said come visit me!
To the game grid
Flynn was sent to die playing
But escaped through the wall
The rules disobeying
Flynn, TRON, and RAM
Sought out the red cone
But RAM didn't make it
Flynn pressed on alone
TRON hooked up with Yori
Flynn flew in to town
That broken old reco
Ended up on the ground
The three all met up
Sailed across Mickey's face
And far down below
The grid bugs did race
TRON derezzed Sark
Flynn jumped the ship
MCP was defeated
Which ended Flynn's trip
Alan and Laura
Looked sharp for their boss
And out popped Flynn smiling
From his chopper ride across
"Greetings programs" he says
The trio reunited
Such a great kick-ass film
It left us delighted!
Two decades later
The film does still shine
We loved it so much
END OF LINE
Well, I won't win any poem awards with that, but it was fun. Had that roses are red, violets are blue rhythm going there.

Excellent Todd. Very creative. Has a certain Night (almost typed "mare") Before Christmas feel to it.

This Light-Cycle I Pose
This red Light-Cycle beeming,
beeming circit switches,
beeming circit glows,
... and yet another mystery I pose,
What is this that makes my Light-Cycle glow,
to reach the grid's end,
and chased by a Recognizer blows.
