I bought Tron 2.0 as my first X-Box game back in December. Popped it in and started playing it, but found it so butt-clenchingly hard that I just stopped playing it. I played a good six other games before deciding to return to it.
This time it's not THAT bad. I figure I must have accidentally chosen the super-hard mode the first time around. I literally only got a few levels in before I just COULD NOT continue
Anyway, I have been really enjoying it. I like the story line and I think the imagination that went into this is pretty cool. There's enough of the old Tron in there to appeal to my fanatacism of the old Tron, and enough new Tron to create an expanded universe.
Of course, there is the bugginess of the X-Box version to contend with, but I am trying not to let that sour my experience.
I have just gotten to the level with the Mobile Server. Not sure if I am anywhere near the end or anything...

Yeah - TRON 2.0 is a fun ride
It's too bad the XBox version is so full of grid bugs though
The PC version has it's share of bugs, but not nearly as bad as what I've heard coming from the XBox version.
I'm actually playing through TRON 2.0 again, for the 4th time now (PC version). I'm taking it really slow (mostly because of lack of time), only playing it for an hour or two each week (usually on weekends). Even having been through it a few times, it's still a fun ride and a good TRON experience
I didn't really care for the storyline too much personally, but the game as a whole is great fun, to me anyway.
And yes, you're quite near the end, being on the mobile server level. But it's not about the end - it's about the experience, which it sounds like you're enjoying (aside from the mentioned bugs in the game).
And it does have that great TRON feel to it, doesn't it?

For me, it's about the end. Then I can move on to Katamari Damacy
But seriously... I do seem to be the only one out of all my gamer friends that will play only one game at a time and have to finish that one to be able to move on to the next one. I think it has to do with my inability to remember the controls if I keep flipping from one game to the next
I will play my PSP or GBA concurrently with other consoles though... but only one "TV Console" game at a time.
For one whole year all I did was play Final Fantasy VII. Yes... it took me a whole year to finish that game :P

I'm the same way. I'm not a hard-core gamer, maybe that's the reason (just don't have the time to be a heavy gamer). But I enjoy getting really in to a game and the experience of exploring it and living it (if that makes any sense). I almost always have to complete the game before I go getting in to another.

I still enjoy playing it over here. I think personally thy should have put a different ending to it though to leave it open for a possible xpansion for it. or add ons for it. Then it would make good use for sequels or good add ons for thgame. I used to be into some gaming when I was younger. butnot the hard core kind. just enough to have a good time with it.

I've just completed it for the 5th time a few days ago, I always went back to it to see if I could hit past v10.....now that I have finally done it I dunno what to do. I think I might have another go online, problem was last time I had a high ping rating due to the fact I live in the UK. I am surprised that not many people play Tron over here.

I know that I do play tron even online from time to time. Just depends if I am in the mood to play online in the evenings over here. It all depends of who I know that is from here that is online with one of the servers there.

Congrats on making the 10.0. I missed some build notes, so I am not going to be that high...but close. I think I have missed one.

I haven't played the Xbox version yet (Mostly because I don't have an Xbox) but I do remember going through the game the first time. I also remembered the part where I had to fight the Kernal. The only way I got past that part was (Somewhat shamefully) by taking advantage of a game glitch where the Kernal got stuck in an object and couldn't throw his disk. So I just stood there and started throwing mine thus winning the level. It was dirty.... but it worked!

Kernal wasn't bad. If you power blocked him enough and waited for him to either start running or roll you could finish him off easily.
I AM having a little trouble with the Seeker+Data Wraith army level. I have been trying with the disc, but keep getting my ass handed to me. I may need to try a different weapon.
Anyone have any suggestions?

LOL Gold works just fine. It's fast, efficiant and you can get a whole ton of shots in. Just hide behind all those archive bins on the farthest side near the edge. There are lots of goodies there that not only keep you health up but also give you a limitless source of energy so you can keep going on and on and on and on and on...........

I've always done well on that level with the disc and... oh what's it called... the subroutine where you can shoot three discs in quick succession... well, whatever it's called - I use that with great success. It's not an easy level, but the multi-disc weapon seemed to work best for me. Just have to keep powering up your energy frequently and every time you derez a wraith, grab its energy orb to keep up your energy and health.
Also use the quick-save frequently BUT only when you're doing well. If your energy gets too low too fast, revert back to your last quick-save point and try again.
An important factor is also when you get enough build points, you want to up your health and energy meters before increasing any other meter. By this level, both your health and energy meters should have a capacity of 300 each. If they do not - that may be why you're having so much trouble.
Good luck with it!

Yeah, I have been upping my transfer rate and processing speed also. So my Energy is 175 and my heath is 190 max.
Am I not going to be able to finish this level if they're that low?

I did it! I found the spot Kamui talked about and sure enough, if you plant yourself there the seeker cant get you. You can load up on energy whenever you want and refill your health with the dead wraiths.
I also equipped MegaHurtz, which totally rules. ICP's go down fast with that thing equipped.
It's funny, I was all totally nervous about the wraiths, but they're kinda wimps compared to the ICP's, huh? They're not very good shots, whereas the ICP's are dead on accurate with their discs.

Yes I agree I worried more about a group of ICPs than the Datawraiths. I tend to fall back to a more defensable position when fighting more than 3 ICPs especially the heavy armored ones

Glad to hear you made it! I had a bugger of a time on that part too. Actually, I got real lucky and had a glitch happen to me.
The first time the seeker popped up, it was in the far corner from where your initiail start point. Once he popped up, he didn't do anything! He swayed, sure, but didn't fire at me. Nor did he pop back down.
I guess the datawraiths are programmed to start appearing after a couple seeker attacks, because they didn't show up either. It was real easy pickin's!
The Tron gods were smiling on me that day!
I felt kinda ripped off, so I went back and tried it again....no more glitches! I used the "sequencer" that Todd used (3 discs). The claw didn't work for me, as it took too long for a datawraith to die (some other datawraith had his way with me each time!). I was just quick to pick up the little energy ball that was left behind. ;O)
Oh yeah, it took several days for me to do it, on medium level I think.

Well, I did it. I finished Tron 2.0.... so I am not longer a Tron 2.0 virgin.
**SPOILERS AHEAD** stop reading now if you don't want critical points of the plot revealed!
Overall I liked the story. I think they did a good job of modernizing the whole thing, but also keeping enough references to the first Tron in there to have old farts like me happy.
However.... there were a few things I *didn't* care for.....
1) Laura Bradley's Death.... what's up with that!? What purpose did that even serve? Was it a plot vehicle for Jet's delinquency? I know plenty of rebellious teenagers who have not had a parent die. I thought it was unnecessary and pretty disrespectful to a major character from Tron.
2) The "Tron Legacy Code". I was fully expecting Tron to be compiled or show up at some point. I dunno.. maybe it was just me, but I was disappointed when he never showed up.
And besides... the Tron Legacy Code was supposed to have made Tron into a monster like Ma3a? Hrm... I'm not overly sure I care to even think about that.
3) The Ending. Terrible ending. We never know who the bad CEO is, or what ever comes of him. Alan says he can somehow save the people from fCon in the PC, but didn't we just kick their collective binary butts? Also, what's up with Jet asking for Mercury as a screensaver? Was that a joke? Mercury is more than a mindless screensaver, pup.... not mere eye candy! You respect her, dammit!
But overall it was a good ride. I liked the new characters, including mercury, Ma3A, I-No, the ICP's, Kernal (I actually liked Kernal... to bad you were forced to waste him)... I thought the graphics were good and the overall "Tron" feel was there. I liked the new weapons, but honestly......all I ever used was the sequencer disc. Maybe the LOL and the Prankster Bit (there are the end).... but I never found anything quite as useful as a head shot from the good ol disc
"I guess this is End Of Line..."
